It's a 30 minute walk - on Flamingo over the Rt 15 overpass so not pretty and unless it was mid day and I just wanted exercise I would never do it personally even carrying a 45 magnum . I'm pretty self confident but the risk reward vs cost of a ride just doesn't make it worth it. Maybe 30 years ago when Las Vegas was safer for the average tourist but once you are "off the strip" just to many negatives (although statistically) I think Robbery is better than say 10 years ago. Bottom line if you can afford Bellagio you should take a cab/uber

I was thinking about going behind Caesars and under that overpass, through the Murder Parking Lot, which is even sketchier than your route. But at least you won't get run over.

Compromise: take the Flamingo bus over; cross the street from the Bellagio and the stop is right there, and you can get off right in front of the Rio. That bus runs 24 hours, every fifteen minutes.

Should be okay, I'm guessing a mile or two from door to door. Walking back alone late at night is not the best idea, you go through some poorly lit areas. Get one of those retina-burning flashlights and carry it with you. They're fairly cheap.
A good Maglite handle to the side of the head will possibly kill a druggie trying to rob you. Those things are multipurpose. Blind you, then knock you the **** out

Yeah. I have a pretty high tolerance for walking through sketchy neighborhoods at night, and I still won't do Rio-Strip after dark. It's sparsely populated and any half decent criminal should know someone coming from the Rio has a high likelihood of having a chunk of cash on them. I'm a huge nit and do this walk in the morning all the time, but I'm taking an Uber at night.

I’ve stayed at both Gold Coast and Palms place in the past. Been at Palms place the last 5 years. Walk to Rio during the day, (Can be hot), Uber home. Always felt a bit nervous walking thru Gold Coast Parking garage at night, but just watch your surroundings and you should be ok.

No way in hell I’d walk home at night to Caesars/Bellagio/aria.

I was looking into AirBnbing an apartment behind the Gold Coast and walking back and forth. How is the walk? The host says its well lit and safe but also he is trying to rent an apartment.

Walk there during the day, uber back at night may be the play, would still be much cheaper than staying at the Rio.

Keep in mind that many people here think that that area of town is less safe than Beirut during a Hezbollah attack.

That immediate area contains a LOT of multi-unit housing. It's convenient for people who work at the Rio, Gold Coast, or Palms (and sorta kinda for people who work at the Orleans or Palace Station). Therefore, there's a lot of foot traffic, at all hours.

If you travel a bit further north, from Flamingo to Spring Mountain, you're in Chinatown, which is a heavily commercial area; lots and lots of Asian restaurants, many of which are open very late, so: also lots of foot traffic.

If you're near Valley View or Arville, there are frequent buses that can get you to the GC or Rio. I would jump at this housing option if I were you. I don't think the host is lying when he says it's a safe area, and it definitely is well lit.

How far behind? The Gold Coast itself is a fairly big property, so it could take a little while. Take a look on google earth to see how far it is. It shouldn't be very hot in October. In fact, by November it could get a little cold at night.

Don't walk through the first story of the parking garage, that's valet parking, and a security guard will chase you down. They let me go with a mean look because they verified I was staying at Gold Coast, but otherwise, who knows?

Is there a good app to get on waitlists for cash games while I'm in Vegas for the WSOP? Or does each casino have its own app?

I did this 3 years ago or so, walked about a mile to/from the Rio in June...had no issues other than it being a bit hot during the day and didn't feel particularly unsafe, but I can see why people would be nervous at night. But if it's really right behind GC I wouldn't worry about it. Like you said it'll be a cheap uber at night if you're worried. You won't have any issues during the day.

Download the bravo app, it will allow you to register for Wsop and other tournaments, also you can make all the Vegas casinos your favorite and see current tables running and how many people is on the waitlist, if your headed to a particular casino call them before to get on waitlist so when you get there the wait is not as long to play

The rooms that are on Poker Atlas (Sahara, Westgate, Resorts World) allow online sign-up, but they don't have much game selection.

If anyone needs a room starting next week, I'm trying to fill mine which I can no longer attend. Thanks. https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/1...-10-a-1795776/

I wonder how many people are going by themselves this year? I went with friends in 2019 but they are not able to go this year. I have been stuck at home for too long so I decided to go anyway. I have been to Las Vegas a number of times by myself so I know I can still have fun, lol.

For those who are already been for the first time this year what is the one thing about the series that jumps out at you? For me it was walking into one of the large rooms and hearing hundreds of people playing with their chips. it was loud to say the least.

For me, how tight people were playing in the two low buyin tournaments I played. If these are soft fields, I don’t want to know what tough fields look like (I know, tight people can be easily exploited). It could just been my tables of course. I was not expecting as many international players, they must have done their week in Mexico in order to get into the U.S. Also, how much stuff is closed/reduced hours in the Rio.

This is what I remember most vividly from my first year of playing - just the mass of humanity

Some guys at one of my tables were Polish. They spent their quarantine time in Colombia. Guess they wanted to see South America.

Rio completely eliminated their room service. They had some kind of Caesars Eats thing, but I'm not getting that. Room service is a staple of Vegas hotels imo. It's one of the things I look forward to the most when I go. Ballys has no open restaurants at all. Sad state of affairs.

Yeah, the food situation really sucked balls at the Rio this time around. I initially planned to only eat healthy, but after one losing session of poker, I wanted to do a semi-nude surrounded-by-food-360-degrees pig-out in the privacy of my room, but it was impossible. Basically no dessert worth writing home about available at all in the Rio, Gold Coast, or ubereats.

Are you allowed to bring a small backpack to the tables or is that not allowed for security reasons? Thanks.

My #1 gripe is the lack of signage (and inconsistent floor staff knowledge) of which cashier areas are for what purpose. The main cashier area will handle all transactions, but there are other cashier areas in different locations for rebuy and for DDS and for SNG. Too many players wasting too much time standing in lines at sub-optimal locations.

I tried to get clarification whether kiosks or the Bravo app would handle registration for rebuy or DDS or SNG, without success. During my next trip I will experiment and post.
