After missing the wsop for the past 2 years(due to money shortage), I have decide to return to wsop this summer. But money is still very tight. My budget this year is $2000 (usually I would come in with at least 5 grand ). After looking at the schedule, I found that the double stack offer the greatest deal, you get a nice structure( same as little one drop) for 1000, no $111 donation. So I decide to come on Thursday of that weekend, play the giant on friday, then the double stack. Although I got some problem with the giant, because if you make the money on day 1 you would actually get punish because you got to come back and the mini cash would barely cover a second trip.so maybe I will play the dailys.

Any suggestion on how to spend 2 grand during wsop?

I agree, I coming out for a week with the weekend starting with the double stack, looks like a good value. If you just have $2000, play day A and if you bust don’t re-enter day A, start with a fresh stack at level 1 on flight B.

You could play a flight of Goliath Milly for $700 at Planet Hollywood. You'll pay a high rake but also get plenty of play for it.

You might consider a $130 satellite on Friday 6/15 at PH. They guarantee 25 seats into the Goliath Milly.

The rake for the Goliath Milly (12.9%) is not that much more than the WSOP event at 10%.

If you make day 2 of the Milly, you would have to skip the WSOP event. A good problem to have.

It depends on your schedule flexibility. If you can only stay through Sunday, your only other option aside from the WSOP double-stack is the Wynn $1100 1MM GTD event (BBA). If you can stay through Monday, the Venetian has an $800 800K GTD 8-max event. If you can stay through Tuesday, PH has a $700 1MM GTD event. All of these have similar-strength structures, though the blind levels and starting stacks vary a bit.

If you have more flexibility, frankly I would either come in earlier to play the Venetian $1100 MSPT event. That prizepool should be 4MM or more. Or come in later to play the Venetian $1600 3.5MM GTD which will have a 4MM+ prizepool and is a better structure than all of the other events I mention here.

Just found out rio stopped all free shuttle to the strip. Guess I have to buy a bus pass so I can travel around, and I probably need to cab/uber if I leave at night ( cause its no fun waiting for a bus at midnight). This is going to cut my poker budget by 50-100 bucks. What a dumb move by management at rio. Any extra money I spend on travel is less money going to the casino, this decision is likely to cost rio money in the long run. Hope they come to their sense and restart the shuttle at least during the wsop

Poker players are a drop in the bucket to their bottom line. The shuttle allowed people to stay at The Rio cheap and then go dump money elsewhere on the Strip. I doubt they had many people staying on the Strip that all of a sudden decided "Hey, the dump has a shuttle running...lets go there to play the same things we have here."

And...as raggedy as those buses/vans were the last time I was on one of the shuttles (early last year), I would rather spend a few bucks and put my life in the hands of a cabbie. It isn't as though cabs or other services are costing that much money...

I'll be heading to Vegas to play the double stack as well (Sunday). Anyone have any idea how aggro this tourney is likely to play relative to normal $1k/$1500 WSOP events? I'm a little worried the regs are going to be shipping super wide the first few levels with the intention of rebuying multiple times if needed. I will be ready to fire a couple bullets but hoping this wont be shove-fest by level 3...

I’m actually hoping it’s a shove fest. Just playing super nitty the first few levels, and hope a maniac with multiple bullets shoves into your AA or KK. If not, oh well, loosen up by level 4 or 5. You’ll have plenty of chips to wait it out if you run bad for the first couple of hours.

Pretty sure they're very few people using those buses and the ones who do don't fire up in the PITS. Definitely +EV for them to cut the shuttle. Also it's a brisk walk to the strip over the freeway bridge. Quite pleasant at night, I've done it a few times for fun

Because it’s a rebuy, and you’d be amazed how light people will shove early in a rebuy tournament. If my strategy doesn’t work early, oh well, like you said it’s deep and I’ll have a lot of time.

5000 entrant for only two flight, which is more than the three flight little one drop from last year. obviously there is a high demand for good structure 1k event. Which is a shame that the wsop stop running normal 1k event. They used to run 1k holdem every weekend. Now all we got are low price event with shi$ty structure.
