My first ever WSOP event was Colossus in 2016. The structure was so bad, it was shove-fest by the 3rd level. Definately not a good first time experience. Had so much more fun at Planet Hollywood's Goliath series and Venetian's DSE.

I strongly disagree with the sentiments about the Colossus structure. Turbo-y structure is perfect for this, and most rec players are used to playing <30 minute levels at their home casinos anyway.

So much this.

The Colossus was the easiest cash I've ever had, we were in the money in 6 hours. I notice they've flattened the structure this year, I think this is a mistake. For $565 I don't want to sit around for 10 hours and not get close to making the money.

Also lol at recreational players thinking that more chips and a deeper structure gives them a better chance, actually it's the opposite. And I certainly include myself as a recreational amateur that can most likely get outplayed post flop by any capable pro. I'd rather get the chips in fast and early, less decisions to make against superior opponents, more of a chance to go deeper and potentially get more $$$.

Of course if you make your living at this game then I understand why you wouldn't want to play poker bingo. If you play for fun, it's better (and easier) to be lucky than good. If you are like most amateurs who believe they are better than most other players, well then you are in the majority and have fun playing for 12 hours and min-cashing.

I think this year should go down again.

My Guess is around 16000.

For no waiting in the Giant between Day 1 and Day 2, you can go back and play the last Day 1 on June 29, and if you make it to day 2, Day 2 is June 30.

The decrease has been getting bigger each year, so I predict 15,000. The tournament directors don't care about a better structure. They want the flights over as fast as possible so they can go home.

With fast structure comes high variance. If you got knocked out late in final flight then?
You had only 1 shot . I would rather play a tourney where
I can fire 3/4 bullets and if lucky play day 2/3 on the same trip.
