I've played all three years and won't be playing again. The structure is just terrible and favors luck more than skill. If someone is on a budget and understands no matter how much work and study they put in, it won't matter for this tournament, they should go for it. If you've studied and worked hard to develop your skills, play in a slightly more expensive one or a non-WSOP event somewhere else. If you just want to say you played in a WSOP event and understand this donk fest is 99.99% luck, go for it! Unless they change the structure to a larger starting stack and 45 minute levels, it will remain all luck based.

Agree with Dr Meh. Colussus is (and has been) a WSOP cash grab. Worked so well they added the Giant last year. The Giant is $200 less, still a bracelet event, ton of runners and is only moderately more horrible than the Colussus.

If for some reason your the type of person who has to play in a bracelet event go Giant. Of course, the most effective way of having a "WSOP experience" would be to play a cash game--you're in the pavilion, you're playing poker and you get to instagram a selfie with the caption "At the WSOP!!!!" for your millions of viewers to be jealous of.

Of course for good low buy-in tournaments stay on the strip and hit up Planet Hollywood.

Every player has different view about Colossus. I respect their views if someone don't want to play because the structure is very fast or it does not suite their style of playing.

For me it works. I played all 3 years and I GOT LUCKY twice (cashed 2016 and 2017).

I just like it because it works for my budget and I enjoyed it.

I have seen so many big Pro player playing colossus every year. Including

Phil Hellmuth, Andy Bloch, Antonio Esfandiari, Jeff Madsen, Dennis Phillips, Greg Raymer,Chris Ferguson,Mike Sexton,Scotty Nguyen,Barry Greenstein,Carlos Mortensen, Layne Flack ,Jeff Madsen Jesse Sylvia,Joe Cada,Dan O'Brien,Mike Leah,Kristen Bicknell,Chris Moorman,Mike Leah,Kathy Liebert,Kenny Hallaert,Scott Montgomery,Asher Conniff,Justin Zaki , JC Tran,
,Maria Ho,Noah Schwartz, Barry Schulman,Allen Kessler, Phil Laak, Dutch Boyd and many more.

So Please judge yourself ,your style of playing, your budget etc and if you think it will suite you then welcome and join us.

I was thinking about Giant but one flight every week!
And Day 2 after 4 weeks !. With fast structure comes
high variance. If you got knocked out late in flight A then
You wait a week for next flight ? It may be good for locals
or players who are there for months. (They don't have budget
problem).

Cash games and daily tournaments at other casino (even
with better structure) is not WSOP experience.

Considering the poor structure, and relatively un-rec-friendly schedule, I was surprised at how well the Giant did last year. It just goes to show people continue to be willing to throw $400 (repeatedly) at a tiny opportunity to win a bracelet. It really is amazing. I mean, you could go put $400 on black and have a far better likelihood of making money. and how "fun" is it really to play In that kind of structure, even at the WSOP?

Agreed, amazing really how players don't think twice about structure. The Giant was an absolute zoo last year in the one flight I played, not near the experience of even a $1k event, more like a daily deepstack.

Colossus was decent the first year when it was 40 min levels on day 1 and 1 hour on subsequent days.
The change to 30 mins on day 1 killed it for me. That 10 minute difference really adds up.

Somehow It didn't work out for me in 2015 (First year) .Fired 2 bullets
but cant pass through 4th level.

On the contrary 2016 and 2017 both year just 1 bullet and both year went deep.

Along with all this Pro players: Phil Hellmuth, Andy Bloch, Antonio Esfandiari, Jeff Madsen, Dennis Phillips, Greg Raymer,Chris Ferguson,Mike Sexton,Scotty Nguyen,Barry Greenstein,Carlos Mortensen, Layne Flack ,Jeff Madsen Jesse Sylvia,Joe Cada,Dan O'Brien,Mike Leah,Kristen Bicknell,Chris Moorman,Mike Leah,Kathy Liebert,Kenny Hallaert,Scott Montgomery,Asher Conniff,Justin Zaki , JC Tran,
,Maria Ho,Noah Schwartz, Barry Schulman,Allen Kessler, Phil Laak, Dutch Boyd and many more.

There were :
22374 players in 2015
21613 players in 2016
18054 players in 2017

It is for sure loosing some players every year. For me it is most suited for my pocket and understanding of the game. I only want to play 1 or 2 events.

Moderate Buy-in,
One Trip,
6 flights,
Rebuy.

As per preliminary announcement there is no mention of Prize pool guarantee.

It says only First Prize Guarantee of 1 Million.

I think with the structure they might announce Prize Pool guarantee in January.

I made day 3 in 2015 but didn't bother playing once they changed the structure. I wasn't alone.

Every year I contact @WSOP and make suggestions
To improve WSOP schedule and structure. I also encourage
other players to also send their suggestions.
More players voice their opinion , they will pay
attention.

One of the problem I reported was regarding levels:

@WSOP Colossus:
2015:22374 players.
2016:21613 players.
2017:18054 players.
Any plan to increase participation?
*Like 40minute level?*
|
I played all 3years .Talking to many players on social media. Main reason they tell me is level decreased to 30 minutes
.Pl look in to it.
l
Year to Year,It went down 3.4% in 2016!But in 2017 went down a whopping 16.5 %.Total cumulatively it went down to 20%. U can fix it easily.

If you think it is important please let them hear.

As per recent tweet from WSOP: "No, not yet.... Goal is to get all structure sheets up by end of January."

Generally schedule is the toughest to put
together unless there is no change from previous
Year.

Structure Sheet will be up by end of January that
means they are seriously tweaking with it. I hope !

If they bump it up to 40 minutes and maybe 10k starting stack, I would definitely play again.

I talked to many Players.(Including some Pro ) . What I am hearing is if they fix either levels (40 Minutes)or starting chips (10,000) will have positive effect.

I remember when I played my first Main event it was only 10000 chips !

And when I played my first $1000 buy in event ,it was only 2000 chips !

Hey River! I certainly found it to be a fun event the year I came (maybe because I ran OK early on), I'll be back this year and participating in any last longer shenanigans.

It was nice to meet some of the last longer guys, too!

Count me in for both! Cashed the first two years. Last year I only fored one bullet and had an abysmal year! This year ai won’t arrive until June 4th, so I may have to play both flights.

Might be in this year. I played in 2016 Colossus but couldn't get anything going. Was fun event anyways. Saw a bunch of pros while I was there, Andy Block, Kessler and David Benyamine.

I agree with the above, a bigger starting stack would be nice.

I can't imagine that was a Chainsaw-approved structure. He must be getting soft.
