I know that fish who hit that Q, he's lurking around here somewhere ;-). Wasn't me though!

I normally love coming to PTC events. I agree that the addon should be done differently, but generally love the structures, fields, and professionalism. I didn't see that professionalism during the rebuy Super Satellite. Rebuy/addon period closed at 120pm. At 500 pm, the payouts were STILL not posted, which is absolutely unacceptable. There were 700 runners, we were down to 140 at this point. Several of us were asking, as the difference between, say, 66 seats and 88 is humongous on strategy at this point. The response from the floor people was sarcastic and dismissive. One said we were 'at least 100 from the money' when we were sitting at 142 runners. I said "so you're giving less than 40 seats??" and he replied "oh I guess we are getting close". "We're working on it" doesn't cut it. I'm one person, they had several there, I could have done the entire thing in 90 minutes, 100% guaranteed.

Supposedly they tried something that they thought would streamline the process and it backfired. Fine, if that's the case, but the floors should be bending over backwards kissing the asses of the players who are being adversely affected by their fail, not sarcastic and crappy. Like I said, never ever had a problem like this in several series with this group, but this was ridiculous.

Have to agree with you on the rebuy problems, I was told they won't have that problem again seems like the "new improved" system didn't work.

Money could not have been counted any faster...90 minutes? Ill bet what you want, that you could not do it in 90 minutes.

The reason to bag and seal bags was so that all counting could be done at a table that has the best surveillance. The amount of time that it took was in line with other times. Normally we make the players take a 30-45 minute break so that the floor man can verify the tables. This time the players were returned after 15 minutes and we counted the rebuys at a surveillance covered table. Same amount of time, just we didnt delay the restart. Sorry we cannot count, sort verify, etc any faster. Believe me , I was getting off after everything was verified...you think i was goofing off?
Sorry you didn't like the new process...

10 more days till retirement....

Jimmy,

As I mentioned, I have always enjoyed your tournaments. Can you describe what the 'new process' was? Was it just skipping the 30-45 minute break?

There were 70 tables, my process would have been have the dealer make a tally on a card for each rebuy and addon. Count tallies, count cash (on my table there was roughly $2000), go forward. I was thinking I could do each table in 60-90 seconds, but with multiple folks it took about 4 minutes per table. Just seemed odd. And I would have happily accepted the delay if I had been given an explanation or at minimum not snarky sarcasm (not from you, I didn't discuss the issue with you).

It is not counted only once. All money must be counted a minimum of three times.

The old process-
Count and verify each dealer at each table, 30-40 minute break required.
Then each supervisors are verified by an In house representative.
Then we put allof the money together. We then count the money a 3rd time to ensure the same figure is verified. Then we take all of the Vouchers and count the # of vouchers. We then go to cage and withdraw all of the money that was withheld for the vouchers. WE then figure out what Voucher numbers were not returned and put this money in as added money. We then figure out how many seats will be given away.

New process was similar...except we decide to let the players stay on schedule with a 10 minute break. So we sealed the bags and had the surveillance cameras on the bags as we opened and verified. WE then proceededthe process. So actually it was one step less. Its just a very hard process. But the Super and vouchers are worth the headaches due to awarding nearly 100 Championship seats. It works..but the process is a HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!

TAke care.....Do not mind explaining it to u and I apologize if a supervisor blew u off... I always try to listen and give everyone an answer. Just remember...sometimes things arent as easy as they seem. have a good year.....Good luck, Jimmy

Jimmy I appreciate the response. Perhaps after the first count a "rough unofficial" number could be given just to give us an idea. It ended up being 77 seats (well 76 seats and $1600 cash for 77th), so us knowing "right around 75 give or take" would have been awesome instead of us not knowing if it was 60 or 90.

Enjoy retirement and I'm sure I will see you at Choctaw.

Bronson if it had only been 90 minutes like Jimmy said I wouldn't have a problem with it but if my "old man" memory is working it was between 5-6 hours til we knew. Correct me of I'm wrong. But like you said atleast we both won seats.

To be fair, the 90 minute number came from me as to how long one counting should take, not from Jimmy. Since they have to do it 3 times, OK, it can take longer, but after the first count, there really should be an announcement of an 'unofficial' prize pool and number of seats.

It was about 4 and a half hours to get the final number. We were down to 117 runners and there were 77 seats (basically) awarded. Strategy was being hugely impacted by not knowing the target number.

I played this exact tournament last year and I don't remember it being an issue at all, but maybe I just misremembered. There was definitely less to count last year (55 seats awarded), but that also means you get close to the possible number quicker too.
