couple of us from WI flying down there for Sun-Fri events. Hotel not so bad split 3 ways with the total rewards discount(3 nights comped, $100/night otherwise), came out to like $75/person only. And about $225-$250 for a round trip flight.

Tough to fill that tournament poker void since Black Friday.

All of the casino hotels are very nice but pricey. They are all booked up solid probably 80-90% of the time on Friday/Saturday nights, so with the WSOP in town, you better book now. Hilton is really nice, Courtyard Marriott in the Boardwalk next door to the Shoe is nice, nothing fancy but nice and brand new. As of right now Traffic St (you enter the Shoe from Traffic St) is closed to thru traffic while the street is widened and a railroad bridge replaced. The scheduled completion date is September. I really hope they get it done before the WSOP event. All it means is, traffic is rerouted and to go next door from the Shoe to the Boardwalk shopping center, the Marriott or BassPro, you have to hit I-20 and go over the river and back around through downtown. It's only a 2-3 mile drive but it costs about $7-8 in a cab. And as Bob said, you can't walk (yet) because of the construction and the railroad tracks are all fenced off so you can't (legally/easily) cross them.

Again, if anyone has questions about a particular hotel/motel in Shreveport or Bossier, just let me know I'll be glad to tell you if I've stayed there and what it's like. Beware, everything around downtown should be pretty safe, but as you move away from downtown there can be some really seedy places that look good in the photos but I wouldn't want to leave my car over night, much less sleep there.
ugh i hate booking hotels in places I am not familiar with. Have not been to Shreveport since 2005 circuit event. Or was it 2006? who knows.
Ok, I need help please!
I am looking at the Ramada on Industrial/I20. Is this one of the yucky areas? Want to try to stay in an economical hotel, this one is about 55/nt but not if my life/car is in jeopardy. I guess there are a few other places in this area as well. Guess it's about 3 miles from casino? I'm going to drive in on the morning of the 8th, play the first event and then get my room, and stay until the 19th.

I haven't stayed there but I've stayed in the Microtel which shares a parking lot with the Quality Inn. Both are fairly new and should be about as safe as any place around. Right off I-20, just a few minutes from the Shoe. Check Tripadvisor.com for reviews. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there if I was looking for a clean/safe place to crash and wasn't planning on spending a ton of time in the room and didn't mind driving a few miles, as compared to staying in the downtown/riverfront district.

Never stayed there...it's a few more minutes from the Shoe and it ranks pretty low in customer reviews. I'd be a little leery to be honest. I was trying to find a good photo of the front of the building from a distance (not just a close up) so I could recognize it better. If I'm not mistaken it's not the nicest looking place...but I might be thinking of another hotel/motel down that way.

I know folks are concerned with the turn out and granted it won't be as big as alot of other circuit venues, there are alot of people in East Texas that are buzzing about the event. I've talked to alot of guys from around here who are casual players, never played in any big tournies and they are all planning on coming over for a day or two. Obviously they will only come on the weekends but from the buzz I'm hearing here locally (1.5 hrs away) I think it will be a decent turn out. Most everyone I know who visits the Shoe in Bossier (even non-poker players) received a nice bi-fold flyer a couple weeks ago with the full tournament schedule. My wife and I got one but I thought it was because we play poker there all the time but I've talked to several guys and women, who got them, who haven't played poker there in a long time or ever.

Not sure how many of the DFW crowd will make it, but I think the East Texas crowd is going to be pretty big. I'm hoping for the best.

Hey guys! I just found this thread today. I am a Casino Operations Manager at Horseshoe-Bossier, one of the Poker Room Managers and the guy who's been working 12 hours a day for the past month to make sure the WSOPC goes off without a hitch. I will answer any questions you have as best I can (and the rest I'll pass off to Jimmy! lol)

After reading all the posts, here's a few pieces of info I will share:

There WILL be live action in the Tournament Room. It will probably come later as tables break down, but we have 30 tables equipped to run live.

Our best estimation on number of players is right in between Choctaw's and New Orleans' numbers. I think BigTex will probably win the over/under on tournament numbers, but being our first event, we'll see.

Again, I'm glad I found this thread. I've been fielding all of the questions via facebook and emails to the company. I'll be happy to answer any and all questions.

Good Luck and we hope to see you guys at the WSOPC!!

Hi Richard looking forward to meeting you next week. I seem to answer more of the questions about Jimmy's WSOPC events than he does (it has been said that he needs a secretary and Teresa won't do it) but I cheat if I don't know the answer I'll call Jimmy, Bill or Jack Effel. Oh plan on making the final table area wheelchair accessible as I plan on making at least one. I was wondering who was answering those questions an Facebook.

Drinks are free and the waitresses in the Tournament Room will serve food to the table for a price. Prewrapped hamburgers, hot dogs, meat pies and club sandwiches. Food service in the poker room has a wider selection and is served by room service.

Glad to see this thread bumped, I'm getting psyched for next weekend.

Question for Richard/Jimmy, and apologies if this has been asked already in this thread or another WSOP-C thread - i looked and didn't see anything, but may have missed it... the structure sheet for the HORSE event doesn't have the times for the levels, breaks, end of the day, etc. So-

30 minute levels in the early rounds like with all the NLHE ring events?
Will the rounds bump up to 40 minutes at any point like in NLHE? If so, when?
How many levels do ya'll anticipate playing on Friday? I know that will depend somewhat on how many entries/how many are left, but do you have a rough estimate about what time ya'll plan to shut down for the night on Friday?

Thanks in advance, and thanks for all the hard work guys. Looking forward to it.

Hey Richard, thanks for posting and offering to answer questions.

Thanks for the info about cash games on the roof, that sounds awesome. Just a curiosity question, at times when cash games are running in both the poker room and on the roof, how will the cash game waiting/interest lists be handled with games running in both places simultaneously? I know this something that is worked out in lots of events like all the time, just curious how ya'll will handle it. Seems like sort of a logistics nightmare.

We will be sharing the BRAVO waiting list with the poker room upstairs in the tournament room. Tables 1-14 are in the poker room, 15-60 are in the tournament room. Those players waiting upstairs will have "RT" or "4th" or some other letters by their name on the list so both places know where they are waiting.

This will allow players in the Tournament Room to see what games are running in the Poker Room and vice versa.

I didn't notice that we left that off of the structure sheets. All rounds are 40 minutes for the HORSE event. We should make it through Round 13 (if all goes well) with a 2pm re-start the next day. All tournament play should be over about 2am every night.

Like Jack Effel and I say Jimmy needs a secretary atleast to proofread his work before he puts it out.

Richard,
Driving in from OKC late Friday night; never been to Bossier City / Shreveport. Are any of the "partner" hotels listed on your web-site better/worse? I will have my vehicle, so no problem driving, if there are any additional hotels you might recommend? Can I just wait till I pull into town to determine which place is most convenient or should I be making reservations now?
Thanks

I would book early for sure. All of the hotels are nice enough for the price. I believe earlier posts in this thread will give you some reviews from BigTex since he has stayed in all of them. The Microtel is the hotel that the poker room uses regularly. It's clean, safe and only 3 miles east of Horseshoe on I-20. They usually give us a $70-$80 rate on the weekends. Hope this helps.
