IMO 900+ for event #2 and 700+ for the main and 300+ for the rest of the ring events.

Tex is right and the Eldorado has a tiny little "room" with only about 6-8 tables. I'll be honest, I don't know more than 2 guys who've played over there in the last 3 years. It's pretty sad too, they used to have a very big room that took up over half of an entire floor on their boat. It was very nice and stayed busy all the time. Then they shrunk it down and took out tables...then they did it again....then they moved it downstairs and removed more tables. Most all of their good dealers moved over to the Horseshoe and they claim the GM over there hates poker and sees poker tables as wasted space where slot machines should be. Don't know if that's true, but I've heard the same story from 4-5 former dealers.

All that being said, if you wanted to play NL (about all the Eldorado spreads anymore) and the wait was too long at the Horseshoe, I'd def. call over to the Eldorado and see how long their list is. I'm sure there will be overflow. The casinos are right across the river from each other, about a 3-5 minute drive from parking garage to parking garage. And I'll be honest, the Eldorado is a very nice property. It has higher ceilings, feels much bigger, less smokey and non-gaming areas are pretty swank.

PSA...

Quote:
Gambling winnings earned in Louisiana is considered to be Louisiana sourced income. A nonresident who received gambling winnings from Louisiana sources and who is required to file a federal income tax return must file a Louisiana return reporting the Louisiana income earned. If the amount withheld is overpaid, a refund of the difference will be issued or credited to the tax liability for the following year, based upon the taxpayer’s return.
I have read elsewhere that it's 6% withheld, and that it can be a hassle to get back.

Any tournament, bad beat or slot jackpot win over $1,200 triggers a W-2G to be issued by the casino. The fed tax is not withheld at that time (you might can request that it be?) but the LA state tax is automatically withheld from your payout. I've had this happen to me with a bad beat jackpot payout in LA one time and my accountant filed the paperwork with LA to get the money refunded to me and I got a check in the mail from them shortly after. It was no hassle at all, my accountant acted like it was super easy and routine.

Poker tourneys are $5,000 above the buy in amount before a W-2G is issued.

I stand corrected and BigTex would know. Its safe to say I've never had a tourney cash above $5,000 to worry about and I'm not too concerned about it happening during the WSOP even either.

No, the 1% is not being withheld. I can call it a Free-Roll Now!

Just threw this together quick, so I haven't really seen if there are better levels to cut or add than has already been done, but for quick reference...

I would have rather seen the 25-50 cut and kept the 250-500 while adding the 7k - 14k.

I binked a 10k score in NOLA, they held out 6%, but I got it back as a refund at tax time.

The Eldorado is a very nice property and the action has always been great. I was there in June and there was 6K on the table and super great action.

Can't wait for the circuit event, there should be plenty of fun for all.

Wednesday night i believe. I am not 100% sure. I will check.

Comps- I will have a very few- Let me know you read 2+2 and I will try to take care of you, as I believe I should go out of my way to take care of you.

All other comps will be distributed through the Live poker room.

I hope there is an elevator to the roof structure where the tourney is being held as I haven't taught my wheelchair to use either stairs or an escalator.

Problem solved just called the poker room and was told they do have elevators to the roof as they have several events a year there and have to have elevators to be ADA compliant. So your back is saved.

The only normal comp the poker room gives is $1/hr food comps that are added to your Horseshoe card via the swipe in system (Bravo?) at the tables. This ain't Tunica to say the least. Poker players are 2rd class citizens (to the Bossier Horseshoe comp givers) and lucky to get the $1/hr. That is in no way a reflection of how the staff treats poker players though. It's just one of the problems of having no real competition in the area like Tunica does.

Yep not many places like Horseshoe Tunica where if there is a wait list to play just ask the poker room for a meal comp while you wait. Lisa the poker room manager still runs the poker room like when Jack Binion owned it. But it is getting harder every year for her to fight corporate to keep the comps.

This post may seem lame but with:
15% rake, 3% of prize pool withheld, dealer appreciation added cost and travel expenses: are we expected to still tip if you make a deep run or win event?

Tipping is optional.
If I were not in the business I would tip an additional 1-2% or nothing Depending on the professionalism etc

But to give you an idea what dealers get paid and there expenses

4-5 hour base pay from casino
10-$11 a down.
They normally get around 12 downs a day

So they make $40 from casino
$130 from toke pool

Total 170

Taxes 30
Airfare 350 (35 a day avg)
Food 25 a day
Room 20
So they make 170 and spend 110 so they clear $60
A day. Gaming license is $200 in louisiana
So this brings it Down to $40 a day

Just an FYI and please don't start bashing on this in this thread .

So the bottom line is no you don't have to tip anything extra
But if you get quality dealers a lil token of appreciation would go a long way
I hope your question was a serious one.

Thanks for the break down Jimmy. I had no idea they make sooo little after expenses. I remember in the only WSOP Circuit stop I went to last year in Biloxi that several of them also dealt cash games if needed. Now I see why that is a prolly a must for them.
BTW, dealer at our table stated last year in Biloxi that when we got the mega voucher when we were down to 27 or 18 players that it was added by casino. So I thought that was cool, did not realize till Fatal error's post last week that the voucher was from prize pool, so definitely try to make sure that all dealers are more informed about all topics.
Cheers

Do you know why the wsop website still doesn't have the event schedules up when some of them have been out for over 2 weeks already?
