So supposedly harrahs isn't allowing backpacks in but women can still have their purses. Wtf? Absolutely horrendous. Just check our bags if you're so scared. Backpacks are commonplace amongst poker players in today's age. Ridiculous.

I am sitting at 125 points and I hear new Orleans gets massive fields so I felt I had to go to philly. I arrive Friday the 26th and first event I will play is the rebuy on Saturday. Anybody have any interest in sharing a room. willing to sleep even on a cot or rollaway bed if you already have a roommate. Would probably just need until Tuesday when my wife comes into town I believe we will be staying at a friends apartment in downtown philly and I will be commuting in from there. Or if anyone lives in downtown philly and commutes there daily and can give me a ride I can pay you some $ (I can stay at wifes friends place for free but kind of wanted to be near casino until the wife came into town) or freeroll you on some events on some of my action.

Really no backpack rule? makes it pretty tough to bring an ipad and work for other jobs for those of us who don't just grind full time. Not looking forward to this stop stupid council bluffs and run bad=12.5 points in 6 tourneys... sigh.

I can provide references that I am a solid roommate, player, person etc if need be.

Name is Thomas Beckstead currently ranked 51 on points leaderboard.

I truly don't understand the NO BACKPACK rule. There is NO good reason for this. I tried to ask all day via twitter to Harrahs Poker Philly why the rule. If that's the rule, are they going to allow women with LARGE purses into the casino? If that's the case, please explain to me why no backpack or bags, but you are going to allow purses. If this is because of Boston, explain? And if you are worried about someone bringing something into the casino like Boston, is your valet room really a safe area to provent something bad to happen?

Either, you tell EVERYONE, no bags allowed or allow them. Explain the difference? What's the deal.

No wonder why so many players complain about this place. Are you guys aware of the polls that say you are among the worst WSOPC stops? Just saying

Even though it is a convenient stop for east coast poker players, this place is an EMBARRASSMENT for the WSOPC and I think it's time to eliminate this stop.

It seems like every other month there is a new frustrating and riduculous issue with this place. The vast majority of poker players use backpacks to carry our "long ass day" needs - ipads/ipods/food/headphones, etc...

Is it any wonder they get the SMALLEST FIELDS out of any WSOPC stop???

Mike,

.............. you could bring a PURSE bigger then a backpack like a nice COACH or GUCCI and that's absolutely fine.

I've been asking all day for Harrah's to explain the difference between then two. If you are really worried about safety. Then NO bags of ANY type should be allowed.

Mike is so correct.........

Suggestion to Poker Room Managers - can you reach some sort of compromise with security? For example, allow bags (but have them examined by security) to the poker room with the caveat that poker players need to drop the bags in the car when they go to eat or gamble in the heavily congested gambling areas upstairs (which would be the hypothetical primary target anyhow)? Discuss that issue with the management and bring up how the competition such as Borgata offers more convenience for the players. In the event #1, more than 40 out of 175 players were ordered to get rid of their bags. Aside from the local players who are there anyhow, how many players traveling the circuit (who have a choice to go to Chester, Foxwoods or Council Bluffs per se) will decide to come back?

Whoever Harrahs Philly Poker rep runs there twitter said, "NO" to backpacks. Said it wasn't a poker decision. Poker players asked and said they would let Security check their bags, but NO ONE answered any of those questions all day.

I was very specific with my questions and asked at least 4-5 times during day and was told "Working to get this fixed. Will communicate."

I'm STILL waiting for an answer.

If HARRAH's is saying is a casino issue with bags. Explain to us, What the issue is and what the difference is between a Nike bag like you have in the post before this, a backpack and a LARGE Women's purse. What's the security issue????????????

this place is an embarrassment.. they continue to shoot themselves in the foot with their decisions... they could have clearly stated this new policy on their facebook page and on here and reasons behind it.. but instead they surprise people who had traveled from all over trying to accumulate circuit points with this DUMB new rule.. another public relations blunder for this joke of a pokerroom..

Pierre - the fact that they wouldn't even answer you speaks volumes to the place. As I said, the numbers are already poor so all this nonsense now will just continue to keep people away. Just pathetic.

Overreaction to Boston situation. Hard for them to have security at every entrance to check every bag. Maybe just have someone near tournament venue to "clear" your bag. And ask players not to leave bags unattended during breaks.

Because in their eyes, women pose much less of a dangerous security threat than us guys.

Hello, Harrah's Chester security - can't some crazy boyfriend put a weapon in his girlfriend's large purse??? As Pierre stated above, if safety is your top concern eliminate ALL bags. THIS PLACE SUCKS.

It is in fact nothing to do with poker, the decision is not the poker managers, wsop, td, or anyone in poker that made the decision. Do you think the poker manager wants to ban bags? Of course they know poker players sometimes carry their lives in their bags. Especially ones that travel. They have been fighting to get the rule changed, if you want to clarify as to why, or who made the decision, or to try to work a compromise, you are better to talk to the security manager or head of security and make your complaints heard. These are rules that poker is forced to comply with.

That's also probably why the POKER twitter hasn't been responsive, because its a POKER person running the twitter who probably doesn't understand the rule nor wants to enforce it so silence it is.

Simple solution-move this stop to Parx. Much bigger, their numbers drew greater for non-WSOPc events then many other WSOPc stops.
