Nothing in Las Vegas. Wonder what is up with that.
If I remember they were poorly attended though.

I am disappointed not to see New Orleans again this year. That is my local area and it always was well attended being the final stop every year. I am definitely curious why they stopped there.

If you read the PokerNews Article it says 10 stops to be added. I am hoping we can get something in Louisiana, I understand the Harrah's NOLA poker room renovation will be complete by next year. Also expect Atlantic City to be added, and a few international stops.

It also said the same thing last year about stops being added but AC was never added. Hopefully this year is different but I'm not holding my breath since Borgata hasn't had any series yet either. No where has on the North East except Turning Stone's circuit event.

What about Foxwoods? It has always been a staple stop on the circuit and decent driving distance from major cities in which people show up from.

Boston - 1.5 hours
NYC - roughly 2.5 hours

Versus Turning Stone which is over 4 hours from NYC and over 4 hours from Boston. Nothing against the Turning Stone location but it seems the northeast has been ruled out of the fun

*This is an emotional but reasonable response*

Would be nice if they branched out a little and tried some spots they haven’t in a while. Black Hawk, St Louis, Louisiana all come to mind. Not sure why Cherokee is necessary to have 5 times, but I guess it gets a big turnout and at the end of the day it’s all about $$$

Kinda agree but Atlantic City is running no tournaments- even borgata isn’t running big series which is super odd.

I’m happy to see turning stone as that is my semi local casino. They got big fields and did a great job running the series- I liked wsop circuit at turning stone much more than wsop in vegas as they didn’t have a hot conference room like wsop in vegas. I just wish wsop circuit events had slightly better structure but they bring out a lot of people.

I’m kinda shocked they don’t have a stop at Foxwoods. I think they are running some tournies and get the NE crowd. Turning stone got a lot of the NE crowd it seemed though.

How did Cherokee become the premier circuit stop? I know they always have a huge turnout but it is in the middle of nowhere with no major cities close by. Havent been so can't speak to the experience but what is so appealing to put it on the schedule 4 times?

It has a large poker market without any other casinos to compete with. A lot of players from Georgia, South and North Carolina and eastern Tennessee and these states don't have casinos except Cherokee.

It's the closest poker room to Charlotte, Atlanta, Asheville, and Knoxville, and is a huge tourist destination for the Smokies. Also last year they took on an extra circuit stop with very little notice when some other casino bailed due to covid policies, so WSOP might be paying them back a little for doing that.

I've always wondered that too. Seriously that place is in the middle of nowhere, the closest major airport is hours away. I really don't get the appeal of this place and I have never been there either. Honestly if I was playing the circuit I still would have zero interest in going.

I find it fascinating it now is so popular there are 4 scheduled stops. Crazy to me.

Cherokee stops have had the largest fields for years now.

Closest casino within a 5 hr drive for most of the southeast + and its a great stop for players to bring their families because of the Smokies, Gatlinburg, etc.

One of the worst hotels you can stay in though. Always $$$$$$$ and you also have to pay for trash internet. On the plus side, as of last year they had free wifi in the casino for guests, which is a step in the customer service department.

Yeah I looked at prices at that hotel during the wsop circuit that is just starting and they are crazy high. That right there would preclude me from even considering a visit.

There are plenty of hotels in the area that are cheaper, but I agree flying in and staying at the Casino is NOT the way to do Cherokee. You gotta drive in and get a cabin in the mountains or another hotel. Last November I stayed in a small cabin at a local campground on the river for a few nights for $70 a night. (basically a 10'x10' room with a bed and space heater. But its not bad if you are only there to sleep anyways.)

I am 1.5hr drive from there so I get the option of driving home if I bust early and dont need to stay the night.

Question about the Choctaw circuit tournaments. Do these 2 day tournaments play down to the money, or final table, or how far do they go on day 1's?

Its usually a set # of levels. The structure sheet should say at the bottom with the other fine print.

Choctaw does not have a set schedule when day 1 play stops which is why you don't see it in there structure sheets.
The 1100 will usually play down to the final two or three tables on day 1.
The Main Event and the larger low buy in fields will play down to about 15 percent.

If there are multiple day 1's then wherever day 1a ends will be where they stop the clock on 1b and 1c and so on.

Is the structure for the mega satellite to the main events the standard type? Has any location run the new format that wynn is trying out? Any talk of when/if wsop will use this format?

Found what I was looking for:
