WSOP Bathroom Question WSOP Bathroom Question

I'm going to be flying out to Las Vegas soon and I was considering playing in a WSOP bracelet event or two just for fun, but I have a somewhat embarrassing bathroom question to ask before I actually register for any events. I've created a new SN because I don't want to become the butt of any jokes under my regular SN (pun definitely intended )

I had a total colectomy several years ago which has left me having to use the bathroom stalls several times during the day (and a couple of times overnight). Being mostly a cash game player, this has never been an issue, because I can just get up from the game with no repercussions whenever nature calls. Even during small tourneys in my local room, the normal 10-minute break every 2 hours has been sufficient. However, I'm concerned about what the situation is like at the Rio when 100s or even 1000s of people all try to get to the bathrooms at the same time. And although the vast majority of guys are just going there to take a leak, if the urinals are all taken, they're going to use the stalls as well.

How close/far are the bathrooms to where the tourneys are played? What are the lines like? And how clean/disgusting are the stalls? Is it possible to leave the table a couple of minutes early to beat the rush to the bathrooms without suffering too much chip loss? (I realize this gets worse as the tourney progresses and the antes get larger.)

Do you think it is possible for someone with my medical issue to play in a large event or should I just stick to cash games when I'm out there? I'm open to any serious suggestions and/or advice. (And please try to keep the bathroom humor and other jokes to a minimum. ) TIA

I have no suggestions for you other than to start out before the breaks. The lines can get long, and yes, the bathrooms can be very dirty if you consider thousands of people using them, and in a hurry.

Arrive early and scope out where they are.

You can get up and go to the bathroom anytime. The bathrooms lines do get long on day 1 of the larger events. You can leave 2 minutes before the break and beat most people, leave 5 minutes before the break to go the bathroom and the bathrooms will be empty.

I honestly don't think you should worry about missing a hand until you are on day 3 of a tournament and by this time the wait time is much much less. Its better to be comfortable and playing your best than to get in 2 extra hands. I often leave 5 - 10 minutes early before dinner break to beat the rush.

There are 2 bathrooms with 4/5 stalls each close to the tournaments and one that is a short walk with maybe 6 stalls.

The bathrooms do get gross later in the day. Maybe bring some wet wipes to wipe down the seat. They do clean them though.

I think you should be fine to play the tournaments, just leave a few minutes early if you have to go. If you are playing the Main event Day 1A will have 1/4 of the people of Day 1C.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses and advice. I still haven't decided whether to play, but that helps to alleviate my concerns somewhat.

Thanks again.

Outside, down where the cabs pick up/drop off, they have placed a "Posh Bathroom" portable toilet trailer. Don't know how many stalls they have. I've used them before, nicer than my house.

Thank you so much for that pro tip! That has worked out great as not many people seem to be aware of it. The lines inside are horrendous, but only a few go outside.

We're currently on our 2nd break after four hours. I'm currently sitting with 9600 in chips after starting with 5000. The tables have been fun and I feel like I've already gotten my money's worth.

Thanks again for providing information that allowed me to make the decision to play.

Glad you decided to play, and that things are going well so far.

Best of luck for the rest of the tournament!

Thanks for the wishes for good luck, but that actually ended up going to my opponent shortly before dinner break last night on two successive hands.

Villain, who had been the pre-flop raiser, went all-in on an 8-high flop and I called with pocket 9s. He had AJ and an ace hit on the river, leaving me crippled with only 4000 in chips. With the blinds at 200/400/50, I then went all in preflop from mid position with pocket 3s, and the very same villain called from the BB with A 10. The 10 was in the window on the flop and I was done. Nevertheless, I had a great time and am already looking forward to coming back next year.

Now, I'll spend the rest of the week playing cash and try to win back that $1k entry fee.
