If true, then they are wasting their time, effort and money. Fall is possible, Spring is not.

yeah wont happen in the first half of 2021. Maybe July, August or September

They can do it in May, but not without spending a lot of money on plexiglass. They have to plan for hundreds of tables, not a dozen or two. The ball's in their court.

They 'can' do it in May, but at a massively reduced level and massively reduced profitability, or wait until the fall when they can probably operate at just about -10%. Non-US are still banned from entering the country and that won't change before Summer. Covid levels are still at record highs both in the US, Europe and much of the rest of the poker playing world, and the impact of vaccination won't be felt until at least the summer.

So they can do it in May with a fraction of the events/runners and make a small profit or even a loss or they can wait until Fall and run it semi normally. It's a fairly straightforward business decision.

Anybody who expects a live WSOP before late fall early winter is delusional. Maybe even at all in 2021. The vaccine process will take a long, long time worldwide.

IMO, best case scenario is that come May 2022 we are back to the regular schedule and numbers.

FWIW NJ change it’s guidelines yesterday. We took first available time slot (20 minutes drive) . Went today and First Dose vaccine received . We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. After the shot they gave us appointment for 2nd shot next month .

The drive can be made in three days if you're trying to do it as quickly as possible and willing to drive 12+ hours a day. I'd suggest not booking hotels in advance, because you never know what's going to happen when you're driving 12+ hours. I think I've done it four times now, and I've had a flat tire twice (once going out, once coming back), major weather delays a couple times, and traffic issues once or twice that caused me to have to stop short for the day and drive extra hours the next. I suggest pulling over and booking a hotel about 1-3 hours before arriving. Keep in mind if it's past midnight you could get into issues with some of the apps with the calendar changing to the next day.

All that said, if you go for three days and you're crossing the Midwest on I-70, I suggest trying to stop around Denver on the second night. Driving through the Rockies at night would be a shame, given the scenery you'd miss, and it's a lot safer to be on those windy mountain roads in daylight too. I also suggest leaving as early as possible on that day, because the scenery in Utah is amazing too, and you'll be chasing the sun to the horizon if you leave between 10am and noon and will likely miss out on seeing some of the canyons you're driving in/above in Utah. There are a lot of scenic overlooks you can pull off into while driving through Utah, too. If you leave early enough you can stop at most of them if you don't take too long. Most of them are pretty cool. One year I stopped at all of them, but didn't get to the canyons at the end in time. Another year I skipped most of them, drove way too fast for stretches, and made it to the canyons at the end on time.

Sounds like you're in NJ, so for the first night somewhere between Indy and St. Louis is probably where you're going to end up.

Also, keep in mind that you'll be driving through the Midwest in tornado season. DO NOT DRIVE INTO A STORM AT NIGHT. Take any tornado warnings VERY seriously. Check the weather each morning and keep an eye on the weather ahead throughout the day. If you see a storm that looks bad, get a local radio station on ASAP. I've made the drive four times and had two tornadic run-ins. I had a funnel cloud go over the car once when I pulled over in a hail storm, and I had to race a tornado-warned storm to the nearest town and run into a gas station shelter area - beat the tornado there by about 5 minutes and it hit the gas station, tore a roof off across the street, crossed the highway, and flipped a few tractor trailers that didn't get off the Interstate.

If you're near KC near a meal time, get some BBQ. Have some good tunes and podcasts ready for the drive across Kansas. The scenery will not entertain you.
