I've been monitoring Bravo for a couple weeks now but the WSOP events haven't shown up there yet. Does anyone have an idea when we will be able to register online? This is my first time attending WSOP so not sure when they normally open.

If I remember the years past, it was usually up and running in late April or early May. I vaguely recall seeing someone post here a few weeks ago that the same timeline was expected for this year...

How does the WTA account work exactly? Say you want to put cash on it (that you will bring to the WSOP).
-Is there anything to do to create the account first? If so where?
-Once the cash is on it, how do you register to tournaments from your phone? What is the app? Bravo? Else?

I would really like to find a guide about it. I don't care much about registering in advance to event but I would very much like avoid the line when doing re-entries. So buying on the app (whichever that is) and go to the kiosk would be great.

Where can I find complete explanation of this process?

I don’t think anyone has seen a complete outline of the process. I’ll be in town this weekend and I’ll try and open an account and see what happens. Like you said this will be extremely helpful when rebuying, especially for the huge goofy events. The $3 is worth it 1000%

You won't even get the 3% if you rebuy using your WTA account (WSOP Tournament Account). Which is amazing. You just need to bring cash to Vegas to fill your WTA Account with when opening it.

It’s not 3% it’s $3 for every entry into a tournament using your account. The WSOP twitter account has said this a handful of times. This $3 occurs no matter how you find your account

So I registered for my first event with credit card on Bravo so as to have the credit card option going forward. Now if I also bring say $8000 for subsequent WSOP events by immediately funding my WSOP tournament account with it at the cage, I can then avoid the 2.95% credit card fee and just pay $3 fee per tourney for online registration via my WSOP tournament account going forward, correct?

One thing I am not sure of is if i have some lammers and go to the cage to pay partially with lammers for a WSOP larger event, can I also ask the cage to supplement the lammers with $ from my WSOP tournament account? I mean, can we also access our WSOP tournament account to register for a WSOP tourney in person at the cage for the convenience of not carrying around all that cash, or can it only be accessed for online registration?

ou must complete the registration process at the WSOP FasTrac area at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in order for you to receive your table and seat assignment. Please visit the WSOP FasTrac, located in the WSOP Tournament Area; at least one hour prior to the start date of your event to complete registration for the event(s).

is there a way I can do that the night before?

Yes. As long as there is someone working the desk in the rotunda, you can finish the registration process. They basically want to see your ID and the physical card you were using for payment. For the first event you are entering in this manner, they will go ahead and print out your tickets, and then after that, you just use a kiosk to print out your tickets...

Is it clear that WSOP/Bravo online reg with an American credit card will code as a purchase and not a cash advance?

It has been a purchase the past two years (paid for one tourney by CC two years ago and three or four last year including dailies). Nothing to suggest there would be a change for this year...

I got a message from Discover clarifying that gambling purchases including purchasing casino chips would be treated as a cash advance, so I'd probably be careful with a Discover card.

I was a purchase for me on a US Visa card.

It showed up as a single purchase from RIO SUITE HOTEL CASINO. It earned rewards points. (The phone number on the transaction matched the company that makes BRAVO)

Trusting email responses from a monkey pushing buttons on a keyboard rarely works well...but then again, there are also plenty of better card options that Discover to begin with.

Given how the purchases were coded in the past, they would have no way of knowing whether you were entering an event or buying merchandise in the rotunda (or checking in at the front desk).

This was something I was sent unsolicited by Discover as a change in terms of my cardmember agreement. I didn't send them an email asking, as I would agree as to the veracity of any response.

I also agree that they frequently wouldn't know how what the purchase specifically was, but I won't be using my Discover to buy in, and wanted other people to at least be aware of the issue.

Looking online, Discover includes in definition of "cash advance": purchase lottery tickets, money orders, casino chips, foreign currency or similar items.

Now, a good lawyer can argue either side of whether a tournament buyin falls into this category, but I'd rather not have to **** with them on it.

Does not even have to be a good lawyer. The simple reality is that a tournament entry is not a lottery ticket nor is it casino chips. The entry has no cash value in terms of being a cash equivalent. Casino chips are clearly a cash equivalent. All in all, I cannot imagine Discover acting in a manner that was different from V/MC/AXP but there are definitely far better issuers that a consumer will benefit from carrying.

My guess is that the updated reminder is clarifying terms and conditions then, and may well have been prompted by the increase in the number of States which now permit various online gambling activities vis-a-vis the sports betting legalization.

I’m not disagreeing with how you characterize it but think you are oversimplifying. You pay the entry fee and in exchange the casino gives you chips. Those are casino chips. It doesn’t say “casino chips with cash value.”

If I register in advance using Bravo Poker Live and show up a few hours after my event has started do I get a full starting stack or will I be blinded off?

Also, as others have written above, is it really that easy once I'm in Vegas to do the following:

A) Simply deposit cash at the Rio cage into WTA (or is there some form of registration process?)
B) Use this cash deposit via Bravo Poker Live to register for events to avoid the CC fees (but pay the $3.00 processing fee)?

Thanks,

Stu

Usually if you’re not seated by the start of level 3 they’ll pick you up. You will also be blinded off until you do sit down
