So about the Crazy 8s tourney, is the structure that much better than Colossus? It looks to be the same structure except with 3,000 more starting chips. Just curious because Colossus gets such a bad wrap for its structure. Is that because of the massive amount of entrants? Or because you start with 3,000 less chips? Or is Crazy 8s almost as bad as Colossus?
Not a huge difference tween 888's S-point rating of 59 and Colossus's 50. Both start with 30 minute levels with same structure so the only difference is the starting stack.
Field size does not matter when figuring an S-point rating. It takes longer to wade through a larger field but, with more chips in play, the average chipstack is larger so the ratio of big blinds stays close to the same.
However, the 888 structure is much worse than the $1k.
The biggest difference isn't the starting stack, it's the level times. The 888 will use 30 minute levels on day 1 which greatly accelerates the blinds.
For instance, after about 435 minutes of play in the 888, each orbit will cost you over your starting stack of 8000 chips in blinds and antes. By comparison, you will get about 750 minutes of play in the $1k before each orbit will cost you your starting stack of 5000.
Another way to look at it: During the 10th hour of play in the $1k (level 10)
each orbit will cost 2500 in blinds and antes (ten antes of 100, one small blind of 500, and one big blind of 1000). In the 10th hour of play in the 888 (level 19 on Day2)
each orbit will cost 20,000 (eight antes of 1000, one small blind of 4000, and one big blind of 8000).
Quite a difference.
