Thanx. I stand corrected, don't want to give out faulty information.

Back again: please note the reference which states that the casino is obligated to withhold 25% due to a rule implemented in 2008. You can sign so as to not withhold.

Only thing I've ever had to sign for on cashes > $5k is for the W2-G. Casino will definitely not withhold for US citizens for federal tax. They might for state tax but NV has no income tax anyway.

No doubt; either the rule is not in place or the casinos, so long as they can confirm your social security number, are just not giving the choice.

The casino assumes you want to sign for the tax form since it will be exceptionally rare for it to be better for you for them to just withhold. But yes if you don't sign for the tax form they will withhold.

So, I posted earlier about my hotel accommodations and have been checking my total rewards site regularly. Long story short, I messed up and thought that I found a cheaper reservation and cancelled my current one before realizing that the reservations now cost more. The previous one I had was from 6/28-7/5 @ Harrahs for $432. Now, the best quote I'm getting from Harrahs is $467. I've since seen the tab that I can click on that will show me a total so I shouldn't make this mistake again but my question is, should I go ahead and book for $467? Or should I wait to see if prices go down? Also, I thought about calling Harrahs and telling them that I cancelled and seeing if they will work with me. Is there any chance that may help anything? Thanks!

$30 is a cheap enough lesson

If you can cancel the Harrahs should a better deal pop up, then book it.

Just make sure you don't cancel it again unless you're 100% that you've got a better price.

Haha yeah it was dopey but you're right, it could have been much worse. Let's hope the rate goes down! I'd love to do it for sub $400

A lot of people are discussing ways to wire cash and such. Is there any disadvantage to opening a line of credit with the casino? My Dad usually does that when he goes but rarely ends up using it. It's more of a fallback in case things get ugly. I did it last year but never needed it. Is there some disadvantage to it? Assuming you're smart enough to not play with more than you have.

Two downsides I can see:

(1) I assume they do a hard credit check.
(2) You may dip into it when you really wish you had not (drunk, steaming, etc...)

If you're not worried about those go for it!

It doesn't hurt to check, but for $30 it may not be worth it. Definitely get a reservation done. You don't' want to be stuck if rates go up for some reason, or if rooms become scarce for some reason. In my experience, rates tend to come down a bit between March and May, so just keep looking.

Yes book today at whatever the rate is, it's a freeroll you can always cancel a reservation with CET as long as you are at least 72 hours prior to the reservation.

There are always promos, so I wouldn't say it's impossible you may still get something you want.

Update on the reservation error, the numbers actually went down again yesterday. I had already rebooked at the higher rate so I went ahead and cancelled that and rebooked at the original better rate I had. This has been fun haha

I believe I could drive a truck through the gaps in this policy.

The few times I've used a line of credit with a casino the way they "police" the policy is that they only allow you to draw on the line at a casino table game (i.e., blackjack, craps, etc., NOT poker) and they give you chips, not cash. They will not let you draw cash at the cage. Yes, you can technically make a draw at a table and pocket the chips without playing, but you'll probably only do it once - they would likely cancel your line after that.

The won;t give you a line of credit for poker. Only for table games and you will need a credit check and perhaps a history of play that would warrant that line. That was my experience last year when I asked for a $30K line for poker when I already had a $10K line for table games.

To those who play on WSOP.com, what are the tourneys like? Are there frequent MTTs and satellites going during the series? What has your experience been?

Going down to LV with a buddy to play some MTTs and sats in early June, and plan to (hopefully) play a bunch online.

I couldn't find the play money download for non-Nevada players. I wanted to check it out.

Usually they make you sign a marker to draw from your deposit. When you leave the table you have to pay the marker, or as much as you have left in chips. If you manage to win, then you get to keep the extra chips.

In my experience, you don't have to pay the marker right away when leaving the table. They willl give you the OPTION of cancelling it right away if you ask, and if they didn't bring it to the cage already (I believe they do that on shift change or at other set times). I believe you are free to decline and take the chips, though.

However, when you want to cash out larger amounts of chips for cash at the cage, they usually ask if you have outstanding markers. I guess you could lie and say no, but if you say yes, they will most likely make you pay those first.

It may already have been posted elsewhere and I missed it, but online registration is now open on the Bravo site.

Does anyone know if you can register with a Credit Card for Mega Satellites?

Also, when registering with a Credit Card, are there additional fees?
