It all works out the same though, because you still need to cash for more than your entry fees overall. Which was my original point. The payouts are so crappy, that any non-cash result is hard to overcome later.
Treating a re-entry as a brand new tournament makes sense, and is something I always do if I re enter into a subsequent day 1 of a multi-starting flight event. One thing I would say, though, is re-entering the same event on the same day is not quite the same thing, since it means you will often re-enter with a chip disadvantage and potentially with some level of tilt due to your bust out. These two factors mean you might not be ready to play your best game, and reentering the same day is something I try to avoid if possible.
