Atlantic city has less total rooms then 2 Las Vegas Big Hotels . It will give some life to dying Atlantic City.
But I don't see it.

Back to the possibilities as to moving the wsop in Vegas it is interesting as Mandalay bay has 2 million square feet of convention space while the Rio has 160,000 square feet. Of note is South Point at 170,000 and Westgate at 200,000.

I only mention the two above because of my perceived costs . Rio is 14th on the list . I know nothing about Westgate, any info ?

Resort (and other) fees are hotels way of raising their prices without having to give some percentage of those gains to booking agencies. Without them the prices would likely still go up, and maybe even higher. There is a certain price to be paid with the nickel and dime aspect of these fees, and people do hate them. But now that pretty much every hotel has them, people are getting used to it and that's less of a concern for the hotels. And they can tell some customers, hey we'll waive the fee as a comp and that typically makes them feel a lot better than if they just lowered the price by $25.

Ive been trying to figure out why hotels are more expensive this year despite the fact that it's not quite college BB tourney/spring break season yet. I think it may have something to do with school vacations. Many school districts on the east coast have February vacation the second/third week of the month. Airfares to all vacation destinations go through the roof during this time. And I think Vegas has become such a big destination for families, that the hotels are just raising their prices during this period accordingly.

Weirdly though I am barely Diamond my father is aspiration level 2 and his quoted weekend rates were slightly worse than mine.

Went back and checked my reservations and the one friday that was $53 dollars has dropped to $40.
Because you did Diamond in a day, your theoretical (expected daily loss) is very high and as a result they think that you are a bigger gambler than your father whose gambling was spread over more gaming days. My Diamond is almost purely from poker and as a result I get less than some of my Platinum friends who are pit gamblers.

Sure, the resort fee is a scam, but there are lots of extras at many hotels that they stick you with. After reading the posts about high rates and checking out rates around town, the Total Rewards rates at Rio were about the best I could find without going down to bottom-tier motels etc. Of all the Caesars properties, Rio's rates were the cheapest. For me, just going in for the Seniors weekend, the convenience factor of not having to commute back and forth to the Rio is worth it.

No-one seems to have picked up on this point. It says the same thing for the Millionaire Maker - does that mean you get 2 bullets per day thus 4 in total? How do we clarify?

It bugs me that Sundays are still day one for these events - I think this will turn the weekend warriors away, knowing that making day 2 already costs them the Monday and they may not even cash? I way prefer Friday & Saturday as Day 1s.

It also feels like the schedule release is drifting again - last year people were screaming for it in January, and then they finally did the Town Hall late January. This year, everyone seems to accept "sometime in February" and there has been no talk of Town Hall or debate with the players. Is this indicative of declining interest?

One reentry in Flight A
One reentry in Flight B
etc.....since Flight A is in the morning and Flight B in afternoon you can fire 4 bullets in a single day if you run bad. You cannot reenter in flight A a third time. You will have to wait for flight B or C or D, etc.

Yes and I tweeted them last night. They responded today and confirmed it is how it sounds and you can fire two bullets per flight. A possible 12 total for Colossus and 4 for MM.

I think this could lead to monster prize pools, by the way.

I don't get the Sat-Sun Day 1s at all... doesn't seem like there are any advantages to this set up.

Has WSOP explained why they made this change?

If had to guess, I'd say they think they will attract more rec players. If that's the case, I believe they are gravely mistaken.

Like you I wish we could get the schedule much earlier than February...
But at least this year they made it clear it won't be before February + they already released some key dates (Colossus, Main, Monster, Seniors, Milly Maker, etc).
That's probably why we wait more quietly than last year.
I don't really think it's indicative of declining interest.

My guess is that it forces people to stay a couple of days during the week.

More critically, attempts to force them to stay when room prices are at a premium...weeknights tend to be substantially less in cost.

I'm curious why each year it takes them longer and longer to release the schedule. They know the parameters way ahead of time as far as the start/end dates, as well as the structure of the largest events, so there doesn't seem to be any logistical reason for the annual delays. Every year they try to work in a few wrinkles here and there, but for the most part, the schedule is pretty consistent. I just don't get why it keeps taking them longer and longer. There doesn't seem to be any legitimately good reason why they can't announce a schedule around Jan 1 like they used to.

Just curious, how much play do you have to do to achieve the different rewards levels? How big of a deal is it to do diamond in a day?

There are several Total Rewards threads, some specifically about Diamond level, in the LVL forum. I would search there. There are 3 on the 1st page right now.

there's your reason why they moved the Millionaire Maker to a Sat/Sun start time. They will have a $365 bracelet event for that Friday.

I mean, I doubt that's the reason. That event is *every* Friday, and at 7pm.

They put the tag team event right next to Colossus this year. I think that's a wise move. I don't care for The Giant, it seems odd and too cheap. I like the schedule this year, though. Seems like it will appeal to a lot of rec players. I'm guessing dneg will hate it.
