How do mid-stakes grinders get sites to stake them for live tourneys? How do mid-stakes grinders get sites to stake them for live tourneys?

I apologize for the newbie question.

So assume you're a mid-stakes grinder, you play maybe NL100-NL200 or SNG33 or something for a living. You're not a great tournament player, and you're the worst satellite player in the world. But now you want to play in a live tournament. How do you get a site to pay for your buy-in?

For example, I'm looking forward to playing one of the APPTs or something else with 2-3k buy-in. I play sngs for a living and rake ~6k a month. I contacted my site's support and asked for an offer considering them staking my APPT, maybe based on a deal that they'd freeze my bonuses for a while and I could sort of rake myself in. The offer I got was ridiculous - the amount of player points I would have had to grind in order to get the package would've been so big that I would have made more with just the regular bonus. After this I sent a similar email to a lot of poker sites, asking for a some sort of rake goal deal. None of them was ANY better than normal bonus/rb stuff.

As a side note, I also talked to ****loads of people at this year's wsop who had been staked for a side event by their site. They were like: "yeah, I rake 5k a month, talked to the support and they were happy to pay for my buy-ins to keep me as their customer". Wtf? And I can't even get a rake goal deal?

This doesn't really happen. I think you're confusing people getting staked by sites with people winning satellites.

I would be angry too if people didn't give me free money for no reason.

If I were giving away money, I wouldn't give it to someone who referred to himself as a "mid stakes grinder"

Let me get this straight...

You play zillions of STT but arent comfortable or confident enough in your game to play a STT satellite for value to gain an entry.

Man some of these ICM monkeys just grind 1 tables and small miniscule edges and in the end dont learn a thing about the game of poker....or so im deducing from a lot of these posts.

If you're the worst satellite player in the world, how far do you think you'll get in the real tournament?

I don't know. My live tournament achievements are limited to one Caesar's Palace 7pm daily victory for 4k (made a deal with 3 left and me being the chiplead), one other daily victory for 2k-ish in another Vegas casino I can't recall (anyway the buy-in was $90 or something) and a few random in the money finishes.

And zaxx19, I do sngs for a living with a very limited bankroll. I make about $40-$50 an hour, but after the living expenses I can save maybe 3k a month. The EPT buy-ins for example are 12k, see why I'm having a hard time paying for them?

Oh well, should just get better and move up in stakes I guess
