So I'm planning to send about $10k to this.. https://www.wsop.com/2023/wsop-2023-...structions.pdf

Some questions, if anyone would be so kind..

1. Besides doing as the form says, (name and TR number), can I just send the money as instructed and then pick it up at the WSOP cage, in cash?
2. Is there any requirement to play WSOP events? I will, but mainly other places
3. How long do the wire transfers usually take from the UK?
4. Will they send however much back, if I give them however much of a cash amount?

Thanks!

p.s. In previous years I have pre ordered a few thousand from travelex in heathrow before flying over (so the rate is decent), with a £4.99 buy back guarentee, so if I take $5k I can change it back for the aame rate upon my return. Besides the hassle of carrying cash, is there any other reason why wire transfer would be better? I'm assuming the loss from exchange rates alone on $10k would be a few hundred for sending it both ways?

I've only ever wired money to the WSOP for a specific event buy in for $1500. I do know that they caution about the process taking time for the transaction to 'clear' so your questions are timely. I can't answer your other questions. Maybe email someone at the WSOP to get the real scoop.

From my experience last year. Funds sent to PARIS /WSOP cage can be used for buy in at WSOP Events ONLY They wire back funds to your account but I THINK only anything over $1000 - they will give you smaller cash amounts direct when you close the account.

Wire transfers are normally confirmable in about 2 hours regardless of domestic or international.

Hang on to your banks confirmation as it helps in the verification process when you get to Paris/WSOP cage. The process of confirming who you are is painless and quick or at least it was for me.

Anytime you need the funds for a tourneyment buyin you provide the account TRM (?) # your ID and they just deduct it from your balance. You can also do most of it via Bravo but I'm old school and just did it face to face.

I know you said you read the instructions but let me bring this to your attention

WSOP Tournament Account: Players can wire in funds for WSOP events or place money on account when they arrive. After setting up an account at the WSOP Main Cage in the Champagne Ballroom, the player will have the option to register online or via mobile device (through www.BravoPokerLive.com) for WSOP tournaments with the funds used to initiate the account and simply print seat card(s) at one of the kiosks – avoiding the need to use the registration line to enter events.

Payouts – Players collect their winnings at the WSOP Main Cage in the Champagne Ballroom. Players can request one of the following methods of payment: cash, wire transfer, casino chips, check, or tournament account deposit. Those who have a Bravo Tournament Buy-In Account can direct funds back to their account.

International Players Applying for an ITIN: International players are required to bring an additional form of identification that shows residential address, such as a signed lease agreement, a utility bill or a mobile phone bill.

If you want to have access to cash outside of WSOP Events you might want to wire some funds to the Hotel Cage you are staying at. Each Casino has their own rules and regulations so just check carefully before you decide as some casino's will only give you chips for their table games and not cash direct. Of course you can always go play a couple hands of blackjack and go back to the cage to get currency.

Hopefully you get more answers from others who have done it more times than I have.

Thanks for the replies

So far I have read that the cage will hand over cash for wire transfers, so this is new. Would anyone else be able to confirm whether or not the cage would hand me $5k in cash if I wired, or if it would have to be used to buy into WSOP events?

One last separate question, I assume if I want to wire money to the Wynn to play in their tournaments, it would be no problem? Thanks

I would suggest you call the Paris Hotel and get them to transfer you to the WSOP Cage Supervisor to get confirmation that you can actually get cash from funds you transfer in. I hope you are correct and that my experience was NOT the normal procedure/process.

As to Wynn you should be able to but again contact the Hotel Cage for the process.

In general, never assume that any money you wire to a cage will be made available to you in cash. They might call it front money, make you collect it at a gaming table, and also make you gamble some of it; because all casinos are nits about Anti-Money-Laundering. To be sure bring an ATM card or use Western Union.

For what it is worth - I reconfirmed this with a call to Paris today while verifying my own wire transfer receipt. Wired funds to Paris WSOP cage is usable for Event entry only. This was also my experience last year.

Can anyone here confirm if it's possible to wire from a Wise USD account to the WSOP Paris cage?

Some of the details needed by Wise are different to whats required on the https://www.wsop.com/2023/wsop-2023-...structions.pdf

If you have done this, please let me know

I think you might be in luck. I have been having similar questions. Had this email response from <wsopfaq@caesars.com>

Yes it is fine to send the WSOP funds without having a CR account. The deposit goes into said account so your funds would remain pending in our account until you arrive to set it up and provide me with the number.

I’m not familiar with Key Currency. If they are able to send a clean wire where your name shows as the originator within the wire document we receive and them listed as sending bank, then it should be fine. A third party is when one person/organization sends funds on behalf of another player as recipient.

This is the first year we’ve been able to accept Wise Transfer for example. As a non-traditional banking service they send us wires that don’t come through “clean” (often missing the patron’s name as originator and no sending bank listed). We’ve gotten permission from our compliance team to accept these as long as the patron puts their full name and/or CR# in the reference field and then email me the outbound wire receipt from the Wise app.

Key Currency might require similar stipulations depending on how the wire comes through. I won’t know until it’s received, and depending on what it looks like how our compliance team feels about it.

Thank you,

If you wire money over, you can't ask for them to give you cash but they will give you chips so you could play cash games. I've done this in previous years including last year. I just called wsop cage and they told me that chips are fine. I only play the main event but wire extra to play cash games.
