The River? I believe they hold it in August usually... they usually play it like this, IE no info until june/july...

It is backed up to early September, with two weeks worth of smaller events leading up to it. Should see info in the room shortly.

last year they had to add 500k to get the 3mill .... interesting to see how that works out this year

Actually, they had to add $580,000 and they did add it to meet the guarantee.

Anyone want to complain about playing an event with that large an overlay?

Here's some details for "The River":

From the article I linked from PokerPlayer Newspaper, Greg Raymer is now the official poker spokesman for Winstar and will participate in some of the tournaments. The River is a $2,100 buyin event, with three day 1's (Sept. 2-4). The combined field playing down to a final table on Sept. 5, with the final table on the 6th.

Has anyone seen the structures?

In that link it says players can play multiple day 1's? I have never seen this approach. Seems very strange but I think I like it. As soft as this field is it's worth having a uber aggro approach on day 1 and either get a ton of chips or try again and maybe change up strategy....

There are billboards up in Dallas Fort Worth saying the sats. starting May 16th. Maybe that are the $110 STS for an entry chip into the $440 Mega.

Yes, Sunday the 16th the single table satelites begin. As soon as 10 players sign up, they will start a satelite.

The SNG's are 10 players with buy ins of $55 and $110 with optional $5 dealer tokes which buys an extra $500 in chips.

In the $55 sats, 1st place gets a seat in a Mega, 2nd place gets their $55 back. In a $110, 1st and 2nd get seats in the $440 Megas and 3rd place gets their $110 back.

There is no "vig" on the sats, all money (except the optional $5 dealer toke) goes into the Mega's prize pool. 10 x $55 = $495. $440 for one seat, $55 to 2nd place in the sat.

Mega's award one seat in the River Main Event for every 5 players.

For the love of god Winstar. How hard is it to have hour levels? At least for day two? You are adding 10 minutes to the structure you give a weekly $60 tournament. Yes you get 10K chips but the structure is still so poor.....Players have been asking for this for like five years now. I guess I need to just give up as whoever sets this up obviously has no clue.......

We have a limited tournament staff. They need a day off. They will have worked long hours for 8 days with the biggest tournament of the year ahead of them. One day off to recuperate isn't unreasonable.

The players who have been playing the series up until then probably would appreciate a day off as well.

Let me add something. The SERIES is a $3m guarantee. The Main Event is a guaranteed $2.5 million and the other tournaments in the series leading up to the main event will have guarantees that add in the other $500,000.

Dealer-Guy - I definitely understand the need for resting your dealers; it just seems like they would get one of those rest days during the week so that you could maximize the number of potential players you could get on a Sunday $330 tournament as opposed to running them during the week. Those of us who work during the week are going to miss out on all the smaller donkaments.

Mega Satellite Qualifiers are Qualifying Events for the Main Event. Mega Satellites will be held at the WinStar World Casino Poker Room on the following Sundays: June 6, June 27, July 11, July 25, August 8, August 15, August 22, and August 29. WinStar World Casino will add twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to each Mega Satellite Qualifier. The twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) will be given to the top forty (40) places, who will receive five hundred dollars ($500) each. Mega Satellite Tournament Registration will begin at 9:00am CST and play will begin at 11:00am CST on each of the scheduled dates.

Mega Satellite Qualifiers will play as follows:

A total of four hundred (400) players, plus alternates, may participate through buy-ins of four hundred and forty dollars ($440) per player. Alternates will be taken through the first two (2) blind levels. Alternates will be placed in the tournament as players are eliminated, in chronological order, using the time the player signed up as reference. All players will begin with five thousand ($5,000) in tournament chips. Blind levels will start at twenty-five/fifty dollars ($25/$50) and advance every thirty (30) minutes. The top twenty percent (20%) of the field will advance to the Main Event Tournament which will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010, through Monday, September 6, 2010. Once the tournament has played down to twenty percent (20%) of the field, entry tickets for The River 2010 Main Event will be given out to the players as they are eliminated. The first eliminated (from the top 20%) will receive a Thursday ticket. The next player eliminated will receive a Friday ticket, the next player will eliminated will receive a Saturday ticket. This rotation will continue for all players for the remainder of the tournament, no exceptions. Entry tickets are transferable, but not refundable, and have no cash value.

Mega Satellites are qualifying events. Prize pool money generated by player buy-ins will be redistributed to the players through entries to the Main Event which will begin Thursday, September 2, 2010. Main Event opening round day selection for the top forty (40) players will be determined by random draw.

so, if you finish in the top 40 of a mega and the top 20% - Will you receive your spot to the 3M & $500?

Top 20% get seats. Top 40 get the $500 and the tourney stops. So if there are 400 players, 80 get seats, and they play down to 40, where they give everyone left $500 as well as the seat.

Thanks! I was a little confused, because it seemed the tourney would stop at that point, but it said something about people, getting their spots as they are eliminated, with a rotation between days 1-3, so it seemed as though it would play out, which I again thought was confusing, due to be given a guaranteed spot and cash guarantee...

By tournament staff, I meant the TD's and their assisstants who are not dealers. They are the ones who need the break. They are there from cards in the air until late night.

Top 20%, which could be more or less than than 80, get seats. The top 40 players regardless of how many enter, get $500 each. The tournamenet will end there and which day seat you get will be determined by your place in line as you receive your cash and seat ticket.

The seats can be traded or exhanged. You can give them away or sell them but the casino will not buy them back.

sorry to change subjects, but do you think there would be a bigger/softer crowd at Winstar on a Sunday afternoon/eve, or at Choctaw following their tourney?
