It’s much longer. Has a wider variety of formats. Has larger guarantees and partnered events (MSPT, LIPS, TBD, etc). And it’s going to held at the Palazzo for a good portion of it.

Other than that it’s the same.

I have never followed or played any DS series in past . So I can’t compare with previous DS series.

But what I see is looking very exiting and good. It has something for everyone IMO.

To start with 4 events with guaranteed Prize Pool of 1.5 Million to 3 Million!

It will attract huge crowd.

I will be playing for the first time DS Series.

it’s different. They had their summer series there about 10 years ago. Not as secluded as the poker room and it got chilly if my recollection serves. But the key is they have room to have more tables than they otherwise would so... bigger events. And assuming Grand Luxe Cafe is reopened by then, it’s right next to the poker area.

as long as you like holdem (or to a much lesser extent, omaha)

unless I miscounted (and also I'm assuming the high roller events are nlh)
121 total events
112 are no limit holdem
9 are omaha

there's a variety of types of holdem events. And a variety of omaha variations. but no other games.

maybe this is why you said 'formats' and not 'games'. there are a variety of formats for nlh: survivor, bounty, ladies, seniors, ultimatestack, monsterstack. for omaha: plo, plo8, big0, plo bounty, limito8.

In 2018 I went to the one in Palazzo and the events were in a convention center type setting. Was a large room about the size of the largest WSOP event room (where you buy in) but had a fraction of the table. The room itself looked unfinished and the tables and chairs was not the best. It was also wonky to get to the location itself but I may have went the wrong way.

I am going to assume this will be held in a similar location if they think they will pull in a big crowd. Overall I was very unimpressed with the event in 2018. They were working on the room in parts of it so maybe it will be more "finished" and better tables/chairs.

I am noticing more Survivor type tournaments. Iv never played them before but will be in Vegas on Monday and the Venetian has a Survivor one each night. Considering trying to check them out and see how they play. Will have to try to find more information on how they play compared to a normal one.

I wonder how the more rec players like the Survivor types compared to the others. Gives them a shot at winning more but it also removes the chance of winning a nice sum by winning. Not sure how recs and even regulars/pros like these and if they will become more commonplace.

My poker playing experience is limited to WSOP events and regional BorgataPoker events.

Never played Venetian or any other series.
Over 120 tournaments over 2 months seems like Big Series by any standard.

Yes it is 90% NLH with different variations.

Being a REC player and my knowledge limited to NLH , I think it will work for players like me.

Heard many good things about TD Tommy LaRosa , hopefully it will be a good experience.

In 2018 it was held in Hall G of the Sands Expo convention center, which is an enormous room but a glorified garage. This is going to be in the Palazzo casino near Grand Luxe like it was a decade ago.

I actually liked the space in 2018. I liked having food options there, and I liked the tables being nice and spaced out.

I just played a survivor at Venetian last week. It was a $200 entry with 98 runners, top 9 spots got $1600, 10th got $1280. I really enjoy the format, and much like with satellites, you can squeeze out some extra juice by people who have absolutely no clue as to proper strategy. In mine for example, a guy called off half of a completely safe stack with 88 pre when we were 10 handed.

Structure gave quite a solid amount of play for $200 - started at 6:10 and wrapped up at 2:00. Definitely cuts both ways, you can't win an exorbitant amount, but you also don't have to deal with the annoyance of playing all night and mincashing either.

I’ll be there for the 2 weeks prior to Memorial Day. Hmm the structures are really solid for these tournaments with extremely soft play. I see people with solid Hendon (obviously misleading) results firing 10 bullies into $600+ tournies where the structure is amazing and there is no reason to punt early in the day as so many soft spots.

I think these mtts are going to smash the guarantees also. They have a 400-150k which is great honestly during these times. I’m sure that will easily hit 200k+. Also a 600- 250k which I think is their biggest gtn for a 600 during Covid.

If anyone wants to meet up from 2+2, send me a dm. I’ll be alone in Vegas for 2 weeks.

Dropped by the Palazzo to check out the staging area. They have about 15 or so tables already setup with plexi. Seeing that I'm speculating that the remaining 30+ tables will also have plexi for the June events.

I figured everywhere was gonna follow wynn as fast as possible to remove it

Last time I found MSPT at Venetian was in
JUNE 3, 2019 ,EVENT #4 had over 4300 runners. What is your guess this June ?
WSOP not being there in June will decrease the numbers or increase ?

I played the 2mil which wrapped up yesterday. Prize pool smashed the guarantee. I think they did a great job overall with it. Very few minor hiccups from what I saw/heard. Dealers were solid and floors were timely and fair when called upon. I would even say registration was smoother compared to their series in June/July of 2019 when all play was at Venetian. Unfortunate that day 2 play (day one and two play held at palazzo) was surrounded by what I think was a cigar convention. They moved day 3 play to Venetian and that’s a nicer spot as far as quality of tables and chairs. From what I hear we are still a few weeks away from a schedule for their October series but I plan on being there.
