WSOP has been “postponed” as we all know with the intent of having it played out in the Fall. Given the prediction of a “second wave” of the Covid Pandemic what is everyone’s thoughts on the likelihood of WSOP live events actually taking place this fall in Vegas. Undoubtedly if it did come to fruition attendance would be down but I am just looking to gauge people’s thoughts on if it will even run or not. I am leaning towards less than 25% chance it actually occurs.

The only indication of a second wave is predictions made by people that were dead wrong about everything so far. I wish those people would publish their football picks.

No doubt I sure hope you are right cancelling my June trip sucked so I am hoping for full ring live poker by the Fall time in Vegas.

Have not missed a year since 2007, but, not going this fall unless there is an unexpected dramatic change with regards to treatment for or prevention of Covid-19 by then which is very unlikely. If the event is held this fall, IMHO any bracelet awarded would need to have an asterisk stamped on it as the attendance would be artificially low, and any calculating player would realize that the risk of death no matter how small far outweighs the possibility of a bracelet or $$. Why not have two series in 2021, one in usual time slot of June/July and another in the fall. No one would feel like they missed anything, attendance would be higher, and there will likely be an effective treatment, vaccine, herd immunity or hopefully all three by then.

I value my life more than sitting at a table with unknown factors. NO poker game is worth the sweat off my rearend. The WSOP is the grand daddy of them all without me.

Anyone predicting anything with a great deal of confidence is a stooge. Could be a second wave, also couldn't be. People who make posts like this that are essentially "their predictions are wrong but mine isn't" are also stooges!

There is a tremendous amount of uncertainty with regards to what the real threat of COVID-19 is. To the degree that you think you have a handle on what the threat is and have decided it is too great a risk, I commend you for having conviction. I will only suggest is its wrong for anyone to believe that others who have made a different analysis of the threat and have come to different conclusions, value their lives any less. And I'm not saying that is what you believe. But it is certainly a prevailing thought.

Prior to this pandemic, every time a person sat down at a poker table, there were some relatively threatening things they paid no attention to, and some relatively benign things they fretted over way too much. That is no different now, nor will it be going forward.

It's almost as if there is a probabilistic chance of many different outcomes with different likelihoods of each. Not surprising a bunch of poker donks don't understand that. How many "What If" threads does 2p2 need?

It feels like the turnaround may be too short, but I'm just speculating.

I've been to the WSOP the last two summers. Seniors make up a significant chunk of the player pool, and those people would seem most vulnerable to this virus on average. It would feel a bit odd trading chips with gramps in November if this thing is still floating around the general public.

I supposed Vegas reopening is an encouraging sign. Maybe it will happen, but it will certainly be an odd WSOP.

As things evolve I bet it will be postponed to May 2021. This year would be too risky.

My guess is shortened WSOP happens in early November. Just a guess and some wishful thinking.

2 words - other hobbies

Some solid dialogue along with the standard 2+2 banter. It will be interesting to see as things play out this summer and more and moore Vegas casinos are set to reopen very soon. I did see the online bracelet events on WSOP and NJ and I currently live in one of those states so I am eligible to play. I much prefer live poker over online by a landslide and am still holding onto hope of a Fall WSOP. Time will tell if not I will have to just dream for another year until next June like everyone else.

I don’t think it happens in the fall. If it does though and they can throw out some solid mtts with lower buy ins (300-1k), I’ll def consider and they have some other casinos like Venetian/aria/etc running series I’ll def go. Travel

I don’t think it happens and if it does, they will have the main and a few mtts. Not a great schedule most likely.

Given the country-wide surge in cases over the last couple of weeks and Americans' refusal to wear masks in public or follow any medical advice whatsoever coupled with our general fatigue in dealing with this pandemic, there is a pretty much zero chance of having a live WSOP until there is a widely available vaccine IMO.
