I was playing WSOP last year and I had some cashes that were over the 5k mark but I couldn't get the required ITIN through WSOP staff as they weren't doing that anymore like in the years before.

So I decided to collect my cashes at this year's series and apply for an ITIN in the meantime. I am from a tax treaty country (Austria). I filled out the document and sent everything they needed but unfortunately my application was declined 2 weeks ago. Now they want me to fill out the form again cause apparently I made a mistake (no clue what I did wrong). As they will take at least 3 months for an answer again I can forget about getting my ITIN via this route.

I also wrote an email to a WSOP official and he told me that they still have not received the authorization by the IRS so it's very unlikely that it will be possible to get the ITIN there again.

So my question is: Are there any workarounds or solutions where I can get an ITIN when I'm there? Are other casinos still doing it if I cash there for over 5k and if so, how long will it take for it to go through so I can go to the WSOP cage and collect my cashes there. Also I heard about express ITIN services - how fast will it go through with them?

It's a really frustrating situation and I would be happy about any information.

I have had Aria and Wynn submit an ITIN application for me before and not hold back winnings. Not sure if they still do that.

An also interested in any workarounds for WSOP

OP, sorry to hear about the inconvenience.

WTF, is there that much of a disconnect between WSOP and the powers-that-be to get this ITIN thing done? They had over a year to get it worked out.

Has nothing to do with the WSOP. The Casinos (here Ceasars group) have to fulfill the „new“ Legal requirements. And visitors from oversea are not their Main Clients.
Aria did it for me, but like mastahead said, not sure if they are still doin.

Thanks, I stand corrected. Below is the link spelling out the moratorium for ITIN agent applications which started August 15, 2022. Apparently the IRS has not lifted the moratorium, which means Paris/Horseshoe/Caesars either did not submit their agent application prior to August 15 of last year, or they are stuck waiting for the application moratorium to end.

According to that link, if Aria (or anybody else) had an agreement that has not expired, they can still issue ITINs.

I have an ITIN from like 2011 is that still working or do i need to renew it? They expire after some time, however it also says if you don't get a US tax refund you do not need to renew your ITIN. But to me it is not clear whether double taxation treaty is handled as a tax refund.
