I ask because they officially don't have cash value - hence tax-free.
Or you could just pay your taxes

I don't think the IRS would agree with you. Getting comped a room incurs taxation. Besides at some point you are going to want to trade those lammers in for cash, hence pay your taxes.

obviously they wont. they dont give **** bout some european poker tourists.

the point is: if you have already cashed and you want to play further tournaments, you can buy in directly with your winnings. you wont pay taxes on this, just on your "net winnings".
but how do they (wsop) deal with it when i dont know which events im going to play (because of day 2's,3's etc)?
solution: lammers!

The 330/550 and 1k satellites get many more players the weekend/days before the ME.

That's how it used to be. Now, the WSOP Gestapo actively tries to prevent the sale of lammers.
Is this true? Can anybody else confirm this?

YMMV. Some suits/security don't care, others are militant about it. Go about your business discretely in the registration line and you should be ok IMO.

Very true. Was just at the cage last night. There were two suits standing at the beginning and end of the line.

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

Sunday evening there was a guy standing right at the sng podium attempting to sell his lammers to anyone playing 500s/1ks. No one stopped him in the 20 minutes I was in the area. Seems like the sng people don't care but the security by the mtt registration area usually does.

I'm with you puur - double taxing makes US-MTTs for players of many countries totally ridic. Would be in the interst of the whole poker economy to if this issue gets resolved ... anyway we meet maybe over there?

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

Is chopping STTs problematic now due to the increased difficulty of selling lammers? Or will the cage chop up the lammers into smaller denoms? How is this working out?

9AM $75 sat, how many runners/ITM on avg? How long to complete the tourney? One $500 lammer for everyone who's ITM, right?

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

That sucks they are not allowing them to be sold in the registration line but how hard can it be to unload them out of site? Two years ago I walked up to Greg Raymer and sold him the two or three that I had in my pocket and I was nowhere near the reg line.

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

I couldn't find Greg. I was nowhere near the registration line when I got yelled at. It's not easy getting out of sight now. As I said, there is someone, either a suit or security, about every 50 feet in every convention center hallway.

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

I suggested in another thread that someone familiar with the Rio designate some space where 2p2ers can discretely conduct these transactions out of the watchful eye of the suits. We could have a thread here to arrange things.

Re: Rio WSOP satellite thread

The problem is that you have to get the players you're trying to sell lammers to, to go to that space.

Re: Wsop sattalite advice

The winning poker tournaments one hand at a time series by pearljammer and some other guys covers a lot of hands from satellite tourneys. If I remember correctly from the last time I was out there the 2k sattys are 10 handed, top 2 advance. If that is the case then check out colin moshman's sit n go strategy book.

Other than that read as much of the single table tournament forum as you can.

Good luck(box).

If it is a SNG Moshman's book is solid, definitely suggest that.
