Official thread for all those planning on and participating in The Reunion at the WSOP on October 1st. $500 buy in and pent up demand makes me think this might be bigger than Colossus.

all the other events on the schedule, they specified how many days long the events are. but not this one.

The schedule says it’s a five day event. I’m guessing the final table will be Thursday or Friday based on the $500 big fifty from 2019.

As a veteran of the Giant and Colossus, here's what to expect...

- An absurdly huge field, forcing players to play in the bowling alley, Guy Fieri highway, and Rio poker room (over on the other end of the casino).

- Horrific play, such as people stacking off for 200 BB with top pair, third kicker.

- Late-reg that stretches so long, people will still be showing up to your table with fresh stacks past the dinner break (actually looks like they might have improved this for 2021 though).

- $300 in profit if you manage to outlast 90% of the field.

With a field of probably 10-20k runners, you would need to play this MTT every day for the rest of your life to realize something close to your true equity, so it's effectively a lottery likely to end in a bust or a min-cash. If you want a decent chance at a solid score, just jump into the 7pm $400 daily deep stack, where there will be 100-200 people, and you can win $10k+ for first.

Having said all that, I would still play it if I could. It will be a fun spectacle and a total shitshow.

Due to 20000+ participants, variance is so high. One should consider Reunion as Fun tournament. If you get lucky that’s fine otherwise a fun WSOP Experience.
Meet new players, friends. Join any last longer if available. Nice experience to tell friends and family.

Anyone know if they have improved the pre-registration process? I'm guessing since it has been 2+ years, folks will have to validate their CCs again. However, I'm hoping that whole process will be much smoother. My recollection was that lines were hundreds deep for people who had already pre-registered in the Big 50.

I didn't have such a long line for day 1b. There were less than 100 people on line. I registered online, but what messed me up was not having my casino reward card. I had to wait on a line for the privilege of waiting on another line (just like disneyland fast pass).
FYI: I arrived 2 hours before my starting flight began so i had enough time.

It might be quicker to go when its less busy. The dumb thing they did was requiring a wait on line for your first event. If you played one event like me, it was a pain in the butt. If you're playing multiples events, its not as bad

Make sure you have it with you, if need be get it from another property near you

Wat? The Rio has a bowling alley?

Nah, I only had to outlast 89% of the field in the Big Fitty.

You won't be getting 10k up top with 200 people. Probably need closer to a thousand.

Uhhh....

https://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/event.php?a=r&n=585111

169 entries, $14k up top.

If you want a realistic shot at a decent bink, those nightly $400s are going to give you more of a real sweat than the bracelet lotteries. Level of play is slightly more challenging overall though.

Played all flights of the Big 50. If you organize yourself well, you don't line up at all. For example, I created a tournament account, loaded it with $$$ when I got to Rio on my first day, then registered (and printed the tickets) on the kiosk machines the evening before each flights before it sells out.

Forget about re-entering during a flight though: lines were up to 2 hours long in the hallways. It was ridiculous.

This year, I will skip the Reunion and come the week after for the Millionaire Maker and the Monster Stack. Imo, it is pricier but the experience is much better.

Contemplating playing this for my first ever WSOP trip. But I feel I may regret it...

Would use Event #8 The $600 Deepstack as a backup if didn't go well

Either one is worth it just for the experience. It’s hard to explain but the atmosphere just feels electric when you walk in from the parking lot, hear the cacophony of chips, see the massive hoards of tables and people, and see the final table blue lights and grandstands.

That being said, if you’re looking to actually cash and/or win, the daily deepstacks are your best option. But if you want a shot at a bracelet and big money at a cheap price point, either The Reunion or the $600 bracelet deepstack will do. Or both, if you can afford it. But if you win The Reunion, you’ll forever be known as the only ever winner of it since it’s probably the only time they’ll ever run it. Barring a future pandemic or something.

Appreciate the advice on the WSOP experience. I definitely just want to play in a bracelet event and take in the atmosphere. I will most likely play both of them if needed

This.

I've been a long time poker player (see my reg date), but only went to the WSOP for the first time in 2018. Absolutely 100% worth. It's just super fun to be in that environment, and I would recommend getting at least one bracelet event on your agenda just to have the sweat and the experience of playing in one.

Don't listen to the negative Nancys, there are too many in poker, me included. WSOP is awesome any week. The ambiance is truly unique and if you prepare just a bit you can optimize your experience a lot (skip lines, etc.)

Bracelet events are great obviously. The Reunion and the 600$ deepstack have faster structure. The 1500$ one (and above) have slower structure. Higher number of first timer and enthousiastic people in the cheaper one, which makes it fun to play. Everyone is in a good mood (except the salty pro at the table).

Don't under estimate the non bracelet event poker games WSOP offers. You can find any variants you'd like in cash game in the Pavillion room. It is huge! And a favorite of mine: the satelite single table. Super fun to play. Of course, there are the daily tournaments: cheaper, big field, fun players!

100% agree with the statement.

It’s real FUN.

I played all first 3 colossus and Big 50.

I cashed in 3 out of 4 tournaments. When you win it’s more FUN (:

No one in this thread but many on 2 + 2. Also many "pros" at the WSOP, in poker rooms and on Twitter who will take any opportunities to **** on the WSOP any chance they get, yet stay from the first day to the last!

I'll never forget my first WSOP event. Made it to day 2 of the Millionaire Maker and was super happy. Ended up seating next to a well known pro who spent his day playing Candy Crush while I was soaking the experience all in. At some point I kind of poked fun at him for playing candy crush instead of enjoying our situation a bit. He answered something like "Yeah I installed Candy Crush, like every year..." with a huge sigh, like he really didn't want to be there. The dude was so miserable!

I was just saying to the rec who asked about when to go : "Don't worry about those comments. WSOP is awesome any week. Enjoy everything it has to offer and do not listen to the haters".

Coming over for 3 weeks mid Sept, all being well.

Really cba to play that much, so will donate a few bullets.

Then I can get to the important part of the trip. Downing cocktails and eating my bodyweight in steak & sushi.

Question about the registration process. If I register ahead of time online, but am late to my seat on the day of the event, will I be blinded off? Will I have to wait in line to print a ticket? I'm thinking of booking a flight that won't touch down until about 9:10, and the event is schedule to start at 10:00, so I'll likely be a bit late. Just wondering what type of nightmare complications to anticipate.

2015 Colossus had 22,374 participants.( Had 4 Day 1 starting Flights)
2019 Big 50 had 28,371 participants! (Had 4 Day 1 starting Flingts)

Every one thinks 2021 will be the biggest WSOP ever !

Anyone thinks we can reach over 30,000 participants ?

What is your guess ?

I don’t think how it’s possible to cross over 30000 with only 3 Day 1 starting Flights!!

Anyway all 3 flights will be sold out . Advisable to pre register.
