What site do you prefer and which sats will you be playing to qualify for the 08 ME?

Thanks,
Cro

I think by far the best value is the PS Steps. Use FPPs and any good satellite player has a relatively easy and low variance path to Step 6, where there is substantial cash to be made even if you don't win the seat. I know the Caribbean adventure steps had a lot of multiple seat winners who were just playing for the huge overlay in cash.

My question would be more specific to Step 6 strategies.

One obvious one is dont sit down at a table with highly rated Sharkscope players.

Another is to try and identify who is playing ultra tight to just make it to 6th place and try and abuse them when it gets to the 6th place bubble.

But, do you play ultratight yourself to get to the bubble? Do you loosen your raising range but narrow your gap in anticipation of a tight table? With the big jump from 2d to 1st (different from the normal 1 table SnG) how do you adjust your ICM ranges?

I am going to cross post this in STT,

Have you tried the Step1 SnG's? I am a decent, but not great player, with a 15% ROI with over 1000 games. I tried several and did squat. They feel more like luckfests with little room to play. I have never done well at the one table turbo format. Turbo SnG's are not my thing so I'm looking at some of the rebuys and DS's.

Thanks,
Cro

Tried a $3 rebuy that gave seats to the $650 qualifiers on Sunday. About 200hundred runners, ended up with 3 seats available. The play was on the weak side, well weak eough for me to win a seat .

For now I am registered in this sundays qualifier. I plan to play, but am wondering if this weekend is any beter or worse than any other. Should I unregister and play it at a later date?

Thanks,
Cro

Can you unregister and get T650 in your account? To use on other tournaments?

I could and thought about doing that. But my goal was to play sats, build up W$'s and then play in the $650 qualifier and try to win a seat to the ME. Just happened to get it in one tourney.

I don't plan on playing in the ME, instead I am going to play in a $1500 NLHE event. I'd use the package to pay for the trip.

I would probably play a few smaller events instead of the ME too.

And good luck to you!

I'm still wondering wich site would be the easiest to get a ticket. FTP, PS, PP, Pokerroom, anyone else?

You'll get W$, that you can use to play other WSOP sats (and other event sats as well). Not as flexible as T$, but good enough for what it sounds like you want.

"Easiest" is relative. PokerStars has by far the most opportunities, but likely also the toughest fields.

I agree with the previous poster that said Stars Steps is the way to go. I'm a mediocre poker player but have managed to take my $7.50 and I currently have a Step 5 ticket.

The first 3 Steps are turbos - I tend not to get involved early, build the tight image, then make my moves when the blinds are high and people are trying to survive (for example, in one of the turbo steps, I played only 3 of the first 35 hands and in another turbo I didn't play any of the first 20 hands). The quality of play so far has been a lot worse than I expected.

Good luck to you.

I made it from $7.50 to step 6 ($2100) in no time, with a total investment of $15. I feel that any regular $16 grinder can turn a huge profit on these.

Can you cash out the steps tickets for $W? Or are they only good for playing in steps?

Can online sites automatically buy you in to the main event if you win your seat or is it gonna be like last year where they just put the money into your acct and you have to buy your own way in?

They are only good for Steps until you get to the 6th.

from my understanding they can not buy you in directly...but not sure if they are giving you cash or tourney dollars.
I won my seat last night on Full tilt and they haven't put anything in my account yet. I hope they dont give me tourney dollars that would be a rip off.

peace

click requests: registered in tournaments, and see if you are registered in the 12k main event winners.

Which sites offer smaller packages? (or is it _what_ sites offer small packages?)

What happens if you win 2 entries to the WSOP via Stars? I know in years past, they simply deposited the cash value into users' accounts upon request, but I thought I'd ask if that's still happening this year. Thanks!

Hi

Looking for some help/advice

My brother has worked up to WSOP Step6 obviously he is likely to be and be seen as scared money at this level where most of the table has bought in direct.

Looked at the players seating at step6 last night looked like a who’s who of online poker
:- Dario Mineri, zangbezan, dmmmikkel, busto_soon, Ch0ppy

Questions:

Should he wait till closer to the event before playing the Step6 – possibly many of the regs will already be in Vegas and not be playing every step 6

I would assume playing during the day (UK) would mean possibly missing some of the more dangerous US based players.

Some playing advice – at the step5 the table was so tight for the 1st 3levels with barely a flop seen, any advice on how to treat this like a normal table rather than the 2K buyin that is.

He is a decent player ($25K cashes and good ROI over the last 6months mainly in PLO8 MTT's and 20/180's) and hasn’t really luckboxed his way to the Step but when I spoke to him last night and we looked at the players his first comment was “God their going to eat me alive”

(Originally posted in HSMTT - lots of views no replies so obviously wrong place for it)

aard, stop thinking about this as a "omg - 2K buy-in!!" .....it is just another tourney-bring the A game....scouting tables and trying to pick softer fields always a good idea, why not try to max the edge as best you can?
