I had 25bb left at 800/1600 200 ante in a live tournament. 9h. UTG limped and it folded to me on the button with AJo, I've been playing with him all day and earlier he shoved preflop A8o when I had 3 bet KK and in a multi way pot. He has also shown a propensity to call light which is why I shoved. However the bb went into the tank and figured I would only do that with AK and called with 33 for 20bb, UTG folded and I lost a race.

My question is should I have 3 bet and seen a flop to avoid these scenarios?

1. Post questions like this in a strat forum (probably beginner's questions)
2. You couldn't 3bet in the hand you described, you could only call or raise (I am not sure, but it seems like from your post you think raising to 3x is a 3 bet. A 3 bet is anytime someone makes a 3rd increase in bet size in a single round.)
3. 25bb is a bit much to shove into a 2.5 bb pot. You are actually very lucky that you got action with a coin flip. Most calls in this situation have you dominated.
