There's a brand new event on the calendar, an event in the new partypoker LIVE series: the partypoker Million North America. The "main" tournament will be a $5,000 + $300 NL Hold'em Re-entry event from May 5th to 10th, 2017.

There's a huge $5,000,000 overall prize pool guarantee - and $1,000,000 is guaranteed for 1st place! There has never been a guaranteed prize pool anything like this in Canada.

There will be online and live components of all aspects of the event including Phase 1 tourneys (part satellite, part starting flight of the event) and Day 1 of the event.

Also, any consideration to putting a Phase 1 tourney into the schedule for your WPT championships that are forthcoming? I would have to imagine it would draw at least as well as the 1500 second chance you have scheduled for Monday after the main event starts.

Are the phase 1's just satellites or do they start day 1 with their end of phase 1 chipstack?

I'm actually not sure of the reasoning behind it - I'll see what I can find out.

Overall I think this is going to be a pretty great event, and not just because of the size of the guarantee. I think these crossover-format events that mix live and online poker are very exciting and is definitely one of the directions that tournament poker is going. It's really hard to build big fields in the game these days, and this is a great way to do that.

BTW there will be a whole Spring Classic built around this as well - so there will be lots of chances to play in other great tournaments at Playground in the Spring!

Hope the "Millions" event will be successful!
I know it's still far away but can we expect the Spring Classic to start late April and finish early May with the Millions event?

partypoker is really messing up with expiry times on these satellite tickets.. anyone else having the same issue? My issue is mainly with the $55 expiry time but in all cases - Why are satellite tickets expiring within a week when there are still months more of opportunity to use them?

I'll definitely pass that feedback along.

It's better compared to the 24-hour expiring tickets before related to Dusk Till Dawn events, but with the partypoker WPT Playground, WPT Fallsview and busy lives going on, one week does become too short. I have to try to use up all my expiring tickets before I can leave for Playground, as I try not to bring my laptop when I will be grinding already in live games.

So from what i understand.. if you play a phase 1 tourney to either an online or live day 1..u will carry your chip stack and have an either smaller or bigger stack than what you would start with on Day 1 if you were to buy in to the 5k event, which is dependant on how many players are in the phase tourney. and then from the start of day 1, it continues as a normal tourney, but with a lot of people with different starting stacks?

Will there be online day 1s as well for the $220 Grand Prix Canada event?

That's pretty much it. The chip average of any Phase 1 (live or online) will be $1M chips (or very close) which is the starting stack for Day 1. In Live Day 1s it works out exactly in that it plays down to 10% of the field - so the average will always be just about bang on. The online Phase 1s play for 19 levels, which will usually mean right around 10% will remain but it's not *quite* as exact.

The other thing to add is that you can win your way into Day 1 through multiple Phase 1s, which will put additional stacks at your disposal to use as bullets in the Day 1. There are 2 live and 2 online Day 1s and each allows an entry and a re-entry.

If you're more of a "simplify things, buy straight into Day 1" player that's OK too - there's plenty of value in this tournament with it's huge guarantee among other things.

lets say theres 15 entries in a Phase 1 with 1.5 mil in play. theres a decent chance that the phase finishes with one player remaining as well as 2 players remaining... so there will still be some stacks with 500k or 1.5 mil going into Day 1. is this true?

How long will the Phase 1 tourneys be running on party poker? The latest i see on the site is Feb 23.
