I plan on playing at the Venetian and ARIA and will probably hit downtown at least once. If you exclude the "mental" refresher trips and just look at how many Ubers will I be paying for ? At least 10 or 15 round trips somewhere during that time frame it really isn't much more to have the convenience and freedom of a vehicle,
I'm admittedly Old school and been going to Las Vegas since 1985 so I never know when I will just want to get up and go and don't have an issue with driving in Las Vegas so if I get a wild hair up my butt I can just go and not mess with Uber.
$775 seems like a pretty good deal. However, unless walking is an issue, you really don’t need a car to go to/from Ballys and the Venetian and Aria. Frankly, it’s significantly more convenient and even just as fast, or faster at times to walk. It’s a pretty lengthy walk just to get to the Ballys/Paris garage from the hotel. By the time you get out of that garage and circumnavigate one of the busiest areas of the strip, you haven’t saved any time. Plus you’ll pay for parking in most Vegas casinos (not the Venetian, to my knowledge). And, of course, you’ll pay a good amount for gas these days.
It’s a 15 minute walk between Ballys and the Venetian if you go by Linq Lane (outside the whole way). It’s about 5 minutes more if you go along Las Vegas Blvd in and out of casinos to avoid the heat.
Aria, is also a 20 minute walk from Ballys if you cross LVB down by The Miracle Mile shops. It’s only that long because Aria is set well off Las Vegas Blvd, like Bellagio.
Trips off the strip notwithstanding, I have stayed near Ballys for about 10 years in a row and have never gotten a rental car. I take cabs/Ubers to/from the airport and occasionally on the strip. Overall I would spend about $50-$75/wk in transportation.
On occasion I have taken a lengthy day trip covering a hundred miles+. In those cases, I rented a car for the day. There used to be an Enterprise rental car place at the Westin hotel (a 5 minute walk down Flamingo Blvd from Ballys). Don’t know if it’s still there, but it was significantly less expensive than renting from the airport, with its high fees.
Anyhow, walking, if you’re able, is great exercise, which is important when spending so much time on my butt at the poker tables.
