The only non-poker thing I have to do is go to the Slipknot Concert on Friday the 17th. That takes quite a few tournaments off the board for me.

I plan on starting early on the 15th with the WSOP $250 Seniors Weekly at 9am.

Then on the 16th, play the $1,100 Monster Stack at Venetian. I'm guessing there will be a larger field at the same time at Wynn for Day 1D of the $2.5k Mystery Bounty, so the field at the $1.1k, $200k GTD, at V should be a little softer and smaller, but we'll see.

Friday, June 17, no tournaments, switch hotels, get a good meal, see Slipknot at MGM.

Saturday, play $1k, $750k GTD, flight D or E at Orleans.

Sunday, continue Day 2 at Orleans, OR, WSOP Event #41, the $1k Super Turbo Bounty.

Monday, Continue Day 3 Final Table at Orleans, or no tournaments and just enjoy my last full day in Vegas.

So, I think that's the best I can do on a $3k tournament budget and not being able to play on Friday.

Any thoughts? Do any of you see better opportunities? Thank you.
If you have the flexibility to change the dates (BIG IF ) and you are an OLD FART (like me) I think you might be better suited to come sometime the week of 6/20 thru 6/27 or 6/30 for your 7 days, That way you could catch both of the WSOP Senior 6/22 or 6/23 and Super Senior 6/28 events and possibly the Venetian Sr on 6/24 the Aria Senior on 6/26 or late in that week the Venetian Super Sr 6/29

Really depends on your preference for field composition.

I wanted to be in Vegas the week you describe above, and those events have historically been scheduled for Father's day weekend, so I took a gamble and booked that week early to lock in low fares and rates, and then WSOP schedule gets released and they push those events to the right one week from the historical date. Kinda pissed me off, but I'm locked in now, and will make do.

I understand completely - I booked flights, hotel, rental car the day after the schedule came out to avoid the pricing jumps you sometimes see (primarily hotel) I've modified everything since my initial but nothing sky rocketed on me and I have a HUGE amount of flexibility at work in my retirement year. I'm doing a full 3 weeks which is my longest WSOP since I first went in 2006. Hell I'm going on 70 and there is only so many sand grains left in the Hour Glass. Gives me time to not press and just go walk the Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, even Red Rock is a nice diversion and not burn myself out on tournaments. Enjoy !

I locked in the same week expecting it to be Senior Week. Unfortunately, my family made plans around my Vegas week so it would be too much of a dic^ move to make them change their plans to suit me. I'll just play the Milly and whatever else looks good at the time.

Just curious RealMcCoy, if you are staying in hotel why bother with rental car when now there's Uber/Lyft convenience and relatively inexpensive.

Fair questions since I am even staying at Bally's

The AVIS standard rental car for 3 full weeks costs me $775 (includes all taxes and fees) so $35 a day. I will stock my room fridge a couple times, I will probably take a couple days away from Tourney's to stay fresh and run to Valley of Fire state park, or Mount Charleston, Lake Mead, or at the least Red Rock. I plan on playing at the Venetian and ARIA and will probably hit downtown at least once. If you exclude the "mental" refresher trips and just look at how many Ubers will I be paying for ? At least 10 or 15 round trips somewhere during that time frame it really isn't much more to have the convenience and freedom of a vehicle,

I'm admittedly Old school and been going to Las Vegas since 1985 so I never know when I will just want to get up and go and don't have an issue with driving in Las Vegas so if I get a wild hair up my butt I can just go and not mess with Uber.

Did you have a discount code for Avis? I am staying for 2 weeks and Alamo is costing me $1270. Avis was higher when I reserved.

I am President's club (thanks to a member here ) and via business I also have smaller discounts at National, etal. but that seems pretty steep to me. I just checked National and it was $1125 for the 3 weeks and Avis as a "nobody" was $1,300. I suggest you clear your browser history and do some online rental shopping. Rates do change and WEEKLY rates are vastly better than daily's with all company's (example an extra day for me at Avis costs $100 .... go figure). I also get some small perks for being a member of Founders Club.

Mostly if you get discount code from your work place , is the best discount if you work for a decent corporation.

$775 seems like a pretty good deal. However, unless walking is an issue, you really don’t need a car to go to/from Ballys and the Venetian and Aria. Frankly, it’s significantly more convenient and even just as fast, or faster at times to walk. It’s a pretty lengthy walk just to get to the Ballys/Paris garage from the hotel. By the time you get out of that garage and circumnavigate one of the busiest areas of the strip, you haven’t saved any time. Plus you’ll pay for parking in most Vegas casinos (not the Venetian, to my knowledge). And, of course, you’ll pay a good amount for gas these days.

It’s a 15 minute walk between Ballys and the Venetian if you go by Linq Lane (outside the whole way). It’s about 5 minutes more if you go along Las Vegas Blvd in and out of casinos to avoid the heat.

Aria, is also a 20 minute walk from Ballys if you cross LVB down by The Miracle Mile shops. It’s only that long because Aria is set well off Las Vegas Blvd, like Bellagio.

Trips off the strip notwithstanding, I have stayed near Ballys for about 10 years in a row and have never gotten a rental car. I take cabs/Ubers to/from the airport and occasionally on the strip. Overall I would spend about $50-$75/wk in transportation.

On occasion I have taken a lengthy day trip covering a hundred miles+. In those cases, I rented a car for the day. There used to be an Enterprise rental car place at the Westin hotel (a 5 minute walk down Flamingo Blvd from Ballys). Don’t know if it’s still there, but it was significantly less expensive than renting from the airport, with its high fees.

Anyhow, walking, if you’re able, is great exercise, which is important when spending so much time on my butt at the poker tables.

No kidding on those jumps. My buddy and I were looking to adjust our travel dates a bit and the one-way flights from Birmingham or Nashville to Vegas and back are topping out over $700. Yikes!

As always TYVM for your detailed and thoughtful comments. I'd rather walk the Fire Valley Sand trails pre noon of course . The rental probably costs me a net couple hundred and it definitely just sits for a couple days in a row but it's worth it for the feeling of freedom it gives me.

This is one of the best websites created by a poker player and 2+2 member “Cocolegros” for the benefits of poker community. We really appreciate his efforts. Very helpful resource for me . It helps me to decide which other tournaments I am going to play other then my WSOP wish list based on the “S”points and rating.

Use Filter option and will give you information you want !

Thx Mr. RealMcCoy to share with us .

MGM Grand coming off the top rope out of nowhere with some very creative stuff. Strong counterprogramming to the very vanilla Aria schedule.

Throwing this out there: Other than PLO, which poker variants do you recommend for people who enjoy big bet games and want to branch out from NLHE?

I've fallen into the NLHE specialist trap. I'd eventually like to diversify, but limit games have limited appeal for me due to the rigid bet sizings. What does that leave? PLO? NL deuce?

Lol a Dramaha tournament and Chicago (high stud where high spade in hole takes half the pot)

i was like you but realized limit poker offers alot more fun and creativity than i first thought. NL deuce is a good game but it actually plays more like a limit game than most people think. If you like the flexibilty in bet sizing im afraid nlhe is your game.

It leaves basically nothing that is spread regularly. Unless maybe you live in a location that spreads a big bet mix that would include stuff like PL 27TD, PL Badacey, PL Dramaha etc. But one would probably get their teeth kicked in learning those formats big bet.
