Will be low-rolling in Vegas 6/14-6/21 with a ~$2k tournament bank roll and my non-poker playing wife. She expects to spend about every other day without me. We do this most years, and its not a problem, as long as we work in a couple reserved pool days and dinners. I'd like to get some feedback on my proposed playing schedule.

6/13: Arrive Vegas 10PM

6/14: Primary: 9AM WSOP Weekly Senior's $250.
6/14: Alternate: MGM Grand $500 Horse

6/15: No Tourney Day

6/16: Primary: 11AM Aria Senior's $800
6/16: Alternate: WSOP Daily Deep Stack $250

6/17: No Tourney Day

6/18: Primary: 10AM WSOP Event #42 $800 NLHE 8-Handed
6/18: Alternate: Aria PLO/ PLO8 $600

6/19: No Tourney Day, or Day 2 of 2 WSOP Event #42

6/20: Primary: MGM Grand Senior's Event $500.
6/20: Alternate WSOP Weekly Seniors $250

6/21: Depart Vegas 2PM

The only self-criticisms I have is that I won't be playing the MGM $500 Multi-flight ($300k GTD), or the WSOP $1500 Monster Stack. Otherwise, I think its pretty clever., but I'd appreciate feedback

I'll be in town for the same dates. I'm reluctant to critique your schedule because picking the right events depends heavily on personal preference. I like deep events with slow structure, but that may not be everyone's preference. Then there's the budget issue. Wynn and Venetian run a lot of great multi-day events outside the summer in the $400-800 price bracket, but almost everything in the summer is marked up because there's more demand and less space. You may need to pay 2-3x the non-summer price to get the same quality of structure, which becomes a big problem on a $2k budget. Your choices are basically to play the Monster Stack and put all your eggs in one basket, or spread your money across a bunch of smaller, faster stuff. In that context, I think what you've chosen above will be a fun schedule, but most of the events will lack the premium feel of a slower multi-day event.

It’s not a bad schedule, especially if your priority is to maximise profit potential. The seniors events offer good opportunity in that regard. You might also consider the seniors $400 at the Orleans on the 17th if you want to further that theme.

But it all feels a little ‘dry’ for my taste. You appear to play Omaha and Hilo too, so take a look at the Golden Nugget schedule, which includes a Big-O évent on your dates and other budget-friendly mixed game offerings that might serve to spice up your itinerary somewhat…..

Agree about Wynn and Venetian raising most offerings to $1100+. Kind of annoying. I feel OK about not playing the Monster Stack because I still get to play a bracelet event. (#42) Trying also to give myself a better chance of cashing by taking advantage of Seniors Events going on. I might've switched things up a bit, if it wasn't my wife's vacation also. I know she'd be pissed if I spent three straight days playing the Monster and only got a $5k cash. The way my schedule looks now, I can poker all day, then degen with my wife all night, follow that up with a daybed poolside, some good sleep and good meals, then start the process all over and do it three more times before leaving.

You're leaving the day it kicks off so maybe it would have been impossible anyway, but the WSOP SeniorEvent is a great value.

It's on their Twitter feed. MGMGrand Poker room on Twitter, or something like that.

Also, the link below is pretty cool.

That was my original intent. We rolled the dice on picking a weekend and booked rooms before the schedule was released. Prior to c0V!d the Senior Event was always Father's Day weekend, so that is when we booked. This is the second year in a row that it has been the weekend after Father's Day. So maybe next year we'll get the weekend right.

To be honest, the structures aren't really going to change from last year. The chip counts, levels, and rake will very likely match those of 2022. Just look at the structure sheets from a year ago.

June 20, 2023:

9AM Horseshoe: $250 WSOP Weekly Seniors.
10AM MGM Grand: $400 Seniors.

The MGM Grand has slightly lower rake and $40k GTD, so is that the play? Or will the WSOP Weekly have a much larger field with all the oldies just showing up and getting in a warm-up event?

The Horseshoe one in a single day tournament. Basically like a daily deepstack with fewer and older players.

Would anyone have any clue how long event #21 would run at MGM, the $300 PL Big-O event? There were about 100 people last year. It starts at 6pm, I'm going to guess 8 hours until 2am but I have no idea.

What will have the tougher field on Sat 6/3, the WSOP mystery millions flight or the Wynn 1100 $1.5M GTD flight... Gotta be more fish in the mystery millions right?

Gotta be more fish in the mystery millions right?

Correct.
However, the play in the Mystery could be fairly aggressive by even the fish as they will want to run up a stack to take into day 2 for bounty hunting.

I think mystery millions will be tough to navigate. It will be very hard to fool someone or bluff someone as there will be many players ready to jump in the pot.

Do you recall if it started at 6pm? Was it limit or pot limit? Yeah that does help. Would probably end way too late for me having to be up early the next day
