EPT100 in Barcelona!

EPT ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR 100TH EPT IN BARCELONA

ONCHAN, ISLE OF MAN – May 28, 2014 – The PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) today announced a packed schedule for the 100th EPT, which will take place in Barcelona, the debut event of Season 11.

Joining forces with the national Estrellas Poker Tour once again, the festival will feature a total of 43 events between August 16 to 27, 2014. In common with all next season’s events, EPT Barcelona will feature several new tournament formats enabling as many players as possible the chance to compete. The 12-day festival will include brand new dedicated €200 and €1k Seniors Events (for ages 50+) and a reduced buy-in for the Women’s Event (from €300 to €200). There will also be the opportunity to qualify online for the new “Championship Events” being held at most stops. In Barcelona, there will be a €1k PLO Hi/Lo Championship event, a €1k Limit Omaha Hi/Lo Championship and a €1k No Limit Omaha Hi/Lo Championship – all 8 handed.

EPT Barcelona will continue the successful Season 10 formula of offering players a wide range of lower buy-in “fun” events including a €100 Deuces Wild tourney and €200 NL Turbo Deepstack “Win the Button” event and there will also be more satellites than ever before online.

With more than 9,000 entries overall, last season’s EPT Barcelona Poker Festival was a staggering success, the start of a season that broke numerous records and attracted more players than ever before. The Season 11 EPT Barcelona festival is expected to set new European prize pool and attendance records and will kick off with the €1k Estrellas Main Event (which last year attracted a record 1,798 entries), followed by the €50,000 Super High Roller and the €5,300 EPT Main Event. Up to 20 extra tables are being made available for numerous events after sell-out attendances last year.

Some great new stuff this year! Many of you have seen Neil Johnson write about the focus on 1K non-NLH Championships. For Barcelona, the focus is on Omaha 8 and we will have all three games, limit, pot limit and no limit. As a side note, London will be mix games and Prague will be Omaha high. We also are adding Senior's (50+) Events for the first time ever on the EPT.

The Super High Roller is slightly earlier (Mon - Wed) since we will be filming four heats of Shark Cage (qualifiers in June I think) in Barcelona on EPT ME day 1A/1B.

For Estrellas, to allow for the incredible field size we had last year, we removed a few of the smaller events that took place in the early days. This allows us to focus on building a massive field in both the Estrellas Main and the Estrellas Mini.

The Estrellas Main will have three day 1's covering Sat/Sun/Mon. The other big switch is that the Estrellas Mini (€300 + €30) which we were forced to cap to a small number last year because of space is being given FOUR day ones with single re-entry per day (4 days = 8 bullets). It will have Day 1a,b,c during Estrellas Main Event Day 1a,b,c and it will have Day 1d on Estrellas Day 2. Since Day 2 of the Mini will be at 8pm on Day 3 of the Estrellas Main, it means everyone will have a chance to play both events if they choose to. By the time Day 2 of the Mini starts, there should be 2 tables or less left in the Estrellas Main so the chances you could be stuck trying to multi-table at this point are slim So we can hopefully clear 2,000 players in both the Estrellas Main AND the Estrellas Mini!

We also have an agreement with the casino to run a series of Super Sat's each morning at 11:30 with a 150 person cap of different formats for both Main's and both High Roller's. This allows us to preserve our tables in the main rooms but still run a lot of Satellites for players to qualify for the big events.

The Grasel Sweets Superstack is like the Mozart Megastack in Vienna and the Easter Eggstrastack in Sanremo. We have Grasel Sweets as the official chocolate sponsor of EPT Season 11 (that is exactly what every poker tournament needs...free chocolate! ). It will be a fun event, with free sweets. We got 568 players for the €200 Mozart in Vienna, so this event should be fantastic!

Feel like there is a mistake because there are two seniors events listed, 3 and 7. A 200 and a 1k.

So looks right enough to me.

Was expecting a lot more for the 100th EPT, just looks like a normal schedule. Why so much more emphasis on the 300 euro than the EPT main? Surely a 10 million grt 5k with 4 starting days would be easily reached. If you are expecting 2000+ players for the 1k, why not make it a 2million grtd?

Staying at Arts = the pits, just rent an apt

So what happens if we register for the Sweets megastack? Do we just get a bag of chocolate?

Ase, could you go a bit more in depth about the arts being the pits? Was considering booking into it before you said that.

I meant it from a poker player's POV. I stayed twice at awesome hotels/apts nearby w roughly ~1500€/2 weeks and 100% safer.

If you don't know what I'm talking about look in NVG for the Arts Hotel scandal (the one rownin reffering to)

The rooms in the Arts are nice though and you have the casino and the beach at your footsteps, the service sucks sometimes though and its super expensive (from 2 years ago when I spent a couple days in there w other Romanians)

The scandal doesn't worry me too much. I just find it so much easier being as close to the casino as possible and that would be my biggest factor in staying there. Will look into an apartment now that you've mentioned it, thanks.

Any info on the lowest cash game stakes available?

If you disregard the laptop scandal, Arts is definitely one of the nicer hotels on the tour.

can i sell the hotel as it was possible for vienna?

The 18:05 server time/midnight Spain time satellites are getting cancelled on the weekdays because they are not reaching the 9 player minimum. Toby, can you look into getting these scheduled earlier in the day?

i was able to get the hotel portion of mine credited to my account. worked out great since I'll be staying with some friends in an apartment.

Can u say sth more about satellites to Omaha8 events?

Can you please extend the hotel opt out to the Estrellas Package exclusively for players who have won both packages (EPT+Estrellas) and want to / did opt out
on the EPT one? I think it is only fair, and what's more important this solution was used in Vienna, so it can be reasonably expected by players that the treatment will be the same this time.

For the time being I was told by the registration staff that it is not possible. Will be really grateful for taking this into consideration,
