Monster stack is a fantastic tournament. Probably going to plan my trip around that one in the future. Looking like 1.2-1.5 for first. Structure is fantastic and the level of play was average at best. Live poker is flourishing right now.

Prices in Vegas are just stupid. It’s not slowing anyone down so I get it, but I hate to feel ripped off.

The key is to reserve rooms early on. For me, it fell on a weird spot on the calendar, since I'm going next week. I didn't realize my workplace gave us a 3 day weekend for "Juneteenth" until a few days ago, and I could've played it without asking for any time off.

Hi - I’m in Horseshoe silver tomorrow. Can anyone confirm that’s in the event center? Has anyone played in there and if so how was temp? I found the horseshoe ballroom to be warmer than paris. TIA

Yes event center. That room can be really cold.

It’s not the room prices, it’s the $20 breakfast sandwich or the $6-$10 water

I bring or buy Walmart water. Even the "free" water is a buck a bottle in the casino.
Breakfast sandwiches I can live without for 3 days. Room, I cannot, and they were $240 per night Fri/Sat.

Go to the cvs right next door and grab a pack of water, or bring an empty one and refill at one of the several free water stations. For breakfast get a yogurt and granola at the cvs or if you want something more substantial food court at horseshoe will work. Personally I go to Ellis Island (short walk) and get the steak and eggs "special" with homefries and toast for $10.99.... Omelet is good also same price. They also have a $5 blackjack table (3/2 for bj)

The CVS is going to save you a lot of money if you are price sensitive. It seems that there is a lot of price gouging at the WSOP for food/snacks this year.

I am trying to set myself a budget for other non-poker items. How much I spend on WSOP clothing, my poker massage budget (This is probably going to be $500 - $1000 for the trip), etc. I have a minimum of 5 or 6 days of play (assuming I don't go deep in any events) and I find the massage breaks up the day and also loosens me up.

How easy or bad is the walk from Harrahs to WSOP?

Staying at Paris would be $550 more than Harrahs over 5 nights, is it worth it?

Or could stay at Flamingo for $200 more.

To the main ballroom...

10-12 minute walk from Harrah's.

7 minute walk from my room at Flamingo using the most efficient route (leaving out of the south Strip exit of the casino).

3 minutes from a room at Paris from room > elevator > casino > shops > ballroom.

I'm biased about how the walk is. I love walking up and down The Strip

I walked to Paris from The Mirage which is a bit further than Harrahs.

You can definitely scootch in and out of different properties along the route to help limit your exposure to heat, sun and annoying street vendors all trying to hustle you, but of course then you have to traverse the smokey interiors of casinos so it may be worth it to get a little heat and sun.

Still the walk isn't too terrible. If you have to Uber it was $11-14 plus tip from Paris to The Mirage (so likely a bit less for Harrahs I'm guessing) depending on the time of day. But it can be helpful if you've been playing a long session and don't want to wander the streets late night/early morning while you're tired.

The main thing is it eliminates the possibility of going to your room on breaks. If you don't like lines, if you want to dump in peace, etc.

If you run deep, you might even be able to get room service on dinner break.

Promptly after being in town for just two days I came down with the WSOPFluenza and was holed up in my room for three days sick and recovering, meaning I missed the PLO and Gladiator events I had planned for.

When I felt better I wound up checking out the 2-7 triple draw tourney at MGM, but ran a #3 into a #1 to get crippled midway through.

They also had a PLO8 tourney at MGM that blew expectations, 10K guarantee was absolutely smashed when they had 200 entries and first was over 11K. Unfortunately busted in 42nd and only top 25 paid, but was my deepest run.

MGM would sometimes get a PLO cash game running and it was weak/passive for the most part so a good game. The PLO and Big O at Paris for the WSOP was hit or miss, a decent number of competent players were in the mix too often on my times there.

Uber definitely seemed to be the better option over paying taxi prices. Also hit up the CVS inside/attached to Treasure Island to snag some non-perishables so I could make peanut butter sandwiches and have granola bars along with me so didn't need to fight long lines during event breaks to try and get food.

Prices are stupid all around unfortunately so gotta do what you can to save a buck.
Taxis have been anywhere from the same price to 1/2 price cheaper than Uber for me.

Just bought a seat for 6/21 Senior Event Day 1A on Bravo. As of a few days ago there was no way to buy a seat online (I think it was posted in this thread as well). I had kind of assumed they were sold out and was going to buy a seat for Day 1B but then when I went online there it was.

Good luck to anyone else who is playing in the event!

And about taxis it was cheaper by Taxi to my hotel than by Uber from the airport... Kind of a shocker. Its always been a lot cheaper by Uber & Lyft...

They almost never sell out of a tournament at the WSOP, other than the heads-up events. At worst they make you an alternate and you have to wait for a seat. That only happens in giant field events.

+1. While rideshare took Vegas by storm about 5 years ago, during the pandemic taxis became the often cheaper and more convenient (if picking up at a place with a cabstand) option.

Weird because when I asked on my facebook everyone was responding that Uber prices were generally better than the taxis except for possibly fixed prices from the airport to the hotels so I just stuck with it and never really comparison shopped, but everyone on here seems to be saying taxis were the better option.

I managed to compile the footage from my trip to Vegas as this was my first-ever time playing any WSOP events so got the vlog released this morning!

It's not terrible. You have to go through or around LINQ, Flamingo, and Cromwell, then up the stairs and across a bridge.

Easy walk if you are in shape, but even that much time in the Vegas sun will bake you just a little bit.

I stayed at Horseshoe last year, but am at Harrah's this year. I feel no major difference in quality of life or experience.

Personally, I would not pay a big premium for the privilege of being on-site.

I imagine it’s always changing over time and rideshare pricing fluctuates quite a bit within a day depending on circumstance. However, the last couple years I have found cabs cost the same or less than ride share a lot of the time. This was never the case when rideshare started in Vegas. It was usually 50-75% of what a cab would cost.

This link can help you calculate the taxi fare in Vegas.

https://www.feelingvegas.com/taxi-fare-in-las-vegas/.

The other benefit to taxis is they are almost always available right away if you’re at one of the major casinos. There could be lines but in my experience those go pretty quickly and are shorter than they were prior to rideshare.

Anyhow, if there’s a route a person may take a number of times, I would try to take a cab or do a calculation and see how much it costs. Then at least you have something to compare to when looking at rideshare pricing. Cab fares will fluctuate based on traffic (they charge for time), but you can get a sense of the typical price using the link above.

Confirmed Taxi's were cheaper close to strip in the last few visits in recent months. Only way rides share is cheaper was during the road construction (because of time), however if you are going off strip far enough ride share is cheaper.

One thing I have noticed however is that the customer service on average from the taxi drivers has been better, I think some ride share workers that are no longer making as much as they once were are not as helpful with luggage etc. They will open the trunk from inside and wait for you to put your stuff in the trunk and get in, rarely have I had that happen with cab drivers.

Its mentioned plenty times I'm sure over the threads every year, but the $8 daily on the Deuce is worth it unless you are truly anti-public transpo.

To give an example. Uber from Caesar’s to Mandalay Bay was $38. Taxi was $17 and change.

You really just gotta compare and it highly depends on location and time of day.

E.g. harrahs is zone 3 which is $27+fuel surcharge+credit card surcharge. (+tip but that would be on both). I've never paid nearly that much on uber or lyft.

Very easy to just open the app and see the final price on ridesharing and if its surge, then take a taxi.

Bravo system using app and TBICs has worked great in past, however, it should not be relied upon this year. More people using it, so small lines, but, the problem is that it is accepting registration and payment for an event and then directing you to the massive in person line. Some machines run out of paper, but, the ones I tried were still printing. Called to cancel and the first call got a rep who told me I could cancel online ( you cannot). Second and subsequent calls reached voicemail to send an email(!).
So now I am in an hour line for an event with 30 minute levels….
System worked fine the other day, but should not be relied upon. Print out in advance, etc. sort of kills the idea of using the system to avoid lines for reentry, or day of entry.
