I made it! It took ~28 hours to fly from my city in New Zealand to Las Vegas, and the badugi event started about 12 hours later.
Results:
I cashed the badugi for ~$3500
I cashed the 8-game for ~$5500
My total buy-ins were $3600, so it was a good series for me!
I also made ~$6000 playing cash games in Paris, mostly the 20/40 mix.
The best parts for me was playing with all kinds of my favourite poker players from the TV, and actually playing mixed-games live for the first time in my life. Running into Viktor Blom and Hellmuth. Playing with Bryce Yockey and Chino Rheem and Nick Schulman and Maria Ho and Dan Zack. Etc.
