You should remember that sketchy, I believe you were dealing at a few of those events.
OK so collect the dealer addon right at registration with a receipt for the entire amount, and have the player or staff member immediately place the addon in a specified container that is not accessible to the casino. What is so difficult about this?

Jimmy, the receipt at the wsopc did not include the $20 dealer addon. Is there a way to do this for the remaining locations..

If u still want to collect this in cash at the table, how about a stamp sort of like a rebuy stamp some casinos use.

no no no no stamps!!!!!!! that stuff rubs off. there's no excuse at ALL for jimmy to not collect the money at the cage and have it on the receipt.

I always love walking to a table and find out I'm getting hustled a little bit when they are going to charge me more money for an amount of chips I can't refuse. Just be up front with fees. Dealer toke add ons are meant for home games not casinos. 3% to tournament and staff is not upfront by the way. Explain what the dealers / floor get proportionately and explain what they get proportionately if you tip extra. Floor men won't do this because then they will actually have to treat players like human beings so they'll get tipped, instead of just relying on the fact that people will tip just so they don't have to be an ass to all the dealers who worked so hard. I can't say how many times I've considered not tipping just to spite the douche on the floor but end up doing so anyway because it's not the dealers' fault.

He's already said he needs to segregate the addon from the cage receipts, so I don't think this is a possibility.

People were asking for this thread, basically when there is a staff or dealer appreciation bonus collected, it is just an addition to the 3% taken from the buyin amount. so in a $300 event with a $10 staff or chip bonus as in Venetian or wsopc; the staff actually gets $19 plus any player tokes.

I hope this clears it up.

FWIW most venues recently changed this; now they just charge the chip bonus up front and it is included on the receipt as part of the buyin

This was the case in Chester. Kessler, what did the average rake end up being in that series for each tournament, 18-21% or so?

The $300s were $288+67 in assorted fees
The $500s were $480+85 in fees
The $125s were $97+28 in fees
The $50 rebuy super was $50+25; so $47+28 in fees, plus a $3 fee for each $50 rebuy addon

$1.50 i think.

3% dealer toke.

This tournament was not as juiced as it appears, because of the the 2 to 3 rebuys per player.

It averaged about like a $200 + $25 + dealer fees.

Jimmys right, I meant $3 for every $100 in rebuys addons. If you spent $200 on the super it would be $48.50 + 26.50 then $145.50 + 4.50 more.

so it would be 194 + 31. Sorry for the messup.

Allen did Steve Frezer give you a chainsaw lighter today? I gave it to him to give to you since I wasn't sure I would see and I knew he would. If he forgot ask him for it.

Lol n00b story: I actually have passed on one of these. Second live tourney, and I can't remember what the structure was, but it was a small local casino, and there was some small percentage disparity. Cashier looked at me like I was nuts. It's no longer listed as optional there.

I'm just curious if this is the kind of issue where the PPA can advocate some kind of uniformity. It is a Players Alliance...and not necessarily arm-in-arm on every issue with the poker industry....right??
Getting everything on the table in a clearer form would make calculatiions easier when it comes to tipping, tourney selection, etc.

I believe there are still many venues where the huge sign says one price but when u walk up to pay it is a different price. This really shouldnt happen.

What the players want is transparency and simplicity. I don't want to read a load of carefully worded blurb in the small print of the tourney literature. At a minimum it should be 100% clear up front (a) what is the full buyin and (b) how much of that ends up in the prize pool.

Having said that players have to accept that small buy-in tourneys with decent structures will not work at levels of rake that make them +EV for anybody who isn't called Phil Ivey. Therefore small buyin tourneys shouldn't be approached on any kind of economic basis. They might be fun for some people and for others they are a good learning experience but expect to lose money even if ur good.

To run a half-decent structure tournament in a pleasant environment etc probably requires a minimum rake of something like $100.

It has resurfaced here in biloxi. Now it is called a staff appreciation bonus. It's not listed on any of the signage or flyers, however if u decide to search for a structure sheet it is listed there.

These events are identical in blinds and starting stacks to what was just played in hammond, but when u sit Down at the table you must pay $10-20 more per event to get your full chipstack.

The tournament receipt indicates the buyin on the signage and flyers

The Beau Rivage's Million Dollar Heater schedule, however, does have a "Bonus Chips" column which lists the extra fee. Not all events have the extra fee.

Was it listed on the signage at the venue or in the flyer listing all the events?
