Press Release December 2020

Once again we are disappointed and sad to announce the postponement of The Irish Open 2021 in Dublin, Ireland due to the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic.

Next year's event was due to commence at the end of March 2021. Ireland is currently operating a ‘Five Level Covid Plan’. Even at Level 1 we do not believe we can host the event with the current restrictions in place and uncertainty that still exists. We are currently looking at alternative dates later in the 2021 calendar.

As we are sure you know, considerable effort is required to host an event the size of The Irish Open and work commences immediately after the last event finishes and we are working hard to try and deliver an event that players at The Irish Open are accustomed to.

The good news is The Irish Poker Open will once again run its festival online on partypoker. The 2020 Festival on partypoker had a prizepool of over 5.5 Million Euros. The Irish Open Online Series, including the much anticipated €1 MILLION Guaranteed Main Event, will begin on 29th March 2021. The Main Event will remain a multi-day tournament.
Once again we would like to thank partypoker for taking the initiative to help ensure Europe’s oldest running Poker Festival goes ahead during these very challenging times.

We hope that 2021 will result in the end of these times and hope to see you all at the live tables later in the year when we can be sure of the safety of all players and at a time we can ensure The Irish Open delivers on its uniqueness.

Full information on a comprehensive satellite and mini-feeder schedule will follow shortly. The full online event schedule will be released as soon as possible on www.irishpokeropen.com and www.partypoker.com
