How much help does a dealer owe a player? How much help does a dealer owe a player?

Playing in a tournament. Seat is a regular who played cash all night and jumped into the 10:00 AM tournament. He was in seat 1. every time it was his turn to act the dealer would nudge him, he would wake up, after getting his bearings he would he would proceed. Was taking about 45 seconds to a minute for him to get his bearings. Dealer never said a word to him (was told later he was a good tipper at the cash tables).

this went on for over an hour and then one hand he raised my blind and proceeded to fall asleep as I called. My small pair became trips on the flop and I bet small into him and waited for him to respond. the dealer nudged him with no success and then proceeded to grip him by his shoulder and shake him the holey hell out of him. He woke with a start and shouted all in.

I called and he flipped over ace high, then proceeded to hit runner runner flush to knock me out. The whole thing was so funny I could not get upset but I wondered at what point he should be warned about falling asleep or if they should just be mucking his cards each hand until he wakes up?

After the third time, he should have been removed from the table in my opinion.

Understand that I am not a dealer or tournament director although I have acted as such in a bar league.

Actually when he woke up I was a 96% favourite to win according to the card player calculator but as you say what are you going to do. Even a blind pig finds an acorn sometimes.

he flipped over an ace high flush draw on the flop and hit the flush on the river. There, fixed it for ya. He didn't call with A high and go runner runner. You embellished the story for sympathy reasons.

WTF are you talking about? he had ace 4 of diamonds and the flop came with one diamond. diamond on the turn diamonds on the river.

The result does not really matter all that much to the question anyway. he was 5% when he woke up he was 100% after the last two cards are dealt. it happens.
