The GN just announced the official dates for Grand Poker Series 2016, from May 31 to July 3. Full schedule will be released March 8!

Jack Eight - do you work with GN? I ask bc I have some criticism. In 2014 I flew to vegas a little early to play GN main and it was a disaster.
First of all they were not ready for the players coming to register, they had a waitlist and people waited around for hours and then they closed registration and couldn't play. Also there was NOT a new table draw for day2. Yes, they kept the same tables for day2, which to me is unheard of.
Did anyone play their main in '15? Were there improvements?

Hello, no I don't work with GN at all, I'm just a player! But I attended every Grand Poker Series since they created the festival and 2015 was a much better experience than 2013 or 2014. The structures were enhanced, some problems (like day 2's) fixed or almost fixed, etc...
I can't say it was perfect, still some issues, but overall a great experience to play there, especially if you're into small buy-ins mixed games.

I didn't go last year, but glad to hear things were improved from those 2 years that I did attend.

Looking forward to seeing them first hand this summer, and will be giving my money away during the last couple weeks of the series

I have played at the Golden Nugget summer series for several years. Last year was a huge disappointment. They had very few mixed games. For several years they had a mixed game almost every day. I played almost every day either an Omaha h/l, stud h/l, horse, or half Omaha h/l and stud 8. I played one time there last year and I was there for 16 days. I couldn't believe the change in schedule. I hope they put back the mixed games and Omaha h/l and stud h/l. Limit, Not pot limit. I am hoping maybe Binions will have more if they don't. You can play no limit anytime, anywhere, but I come to Vegas for 2 weeks plus every june just to play Omaha 8and stud 8.

+1. I really hope they go back to the 2014 and previous schedules. But I'm not holding my breath. Every tournament director has a huge hard on these days for a schedule filled with all NLH tournaments.

I generally only played the main events, and a couple random tournaments.

I was hoping the schedules would still be similar, in that they'd have plenty of the mixed games.

You're right, the schedule was much more focused on No Limit Hold'em last year (70% of the events). Hope it's gonna be balanced in 2016!
PS: I disagree with you on the Limit/Pot Limit for Omaha Hi-Lo. I like both variants, but the Pot Limit version is more difficult to find in casinos so kudos to GN for putting some PLO8 in the Schedule the previous years.

I play mostly mixed game so I too, would like to see more added back into the schedule. That said, I played at GN the last few years in a row. Last year there was a new management group for the series. They did a much better job then the previous group. I just booked my trip for this year with the idea of playing the HORSE event on June7th at the WSOP and hopefully an event or two at the GN. Would love to see a few mixed events leading up to the 7th.

Did a tweetaround for info re the other casinos earlier today. I have the following information:

Venetian DSE: Hoping to release schedule mid-March
Wynn: Summer Classic schedule to be released in April
ARIA: Summer plans in development
Golden Nugget: Dedicated thread suggests schedule 8 March
Binions: Early June to about 10 July, but no schedule yet
PH Phamous Poker: Targeting March release
Orleans: No series this year

I personally liked last year's schedule more than the previous years. Yes there were slightly fewer mixed games overall, but I like that they got rid of most of those $135 buy-ins from previous years (too small) and added more $240's/$350's/$560's.

I had pinged Binions on Facebook, but not gotten around to the others.

Per Twitter just now: schedule is not yet ready to be released ... Despite the fact they said 03/08 it would be ready.

They did announce room rates for the summer: $49 weekday/$79 weekend

What a HORRIBLE schedule for mixed/Hi-Low game players. In the past there was one event almost every day which was very appealing to me.
The focus has clearly shifted to NLH.

I hope this is just the draft and they are still working on the schedule.

I'm coming out from June 4-11. It looks like the HORSE event is two days AFTER the WSOP $1,500 HORSE event starts. Why not the day before (or two days before)?

No other mixed games that week. So disappointed.

Really? I thought the schedule looked great, with a nice mix of non-NLHE games. I love the sked.

I've honestly never played at the GN and have no skin in the game. But "horrible" (all caps)? Event 1: O/8. 3: HORSE. 5: O/E. 14: PLO. 16: HORSE. 19: PLO/8. 23: PLO. 25: O/8. 27: Big O. 29: 8-game. 33: O/8. 37: PLO. 39: Triple Stud. 41: Big O. 43: Mixed Omaha. 47: HORSE. That's 16 in five weeks. I just checked, and last year there were 16 in a schedule that was a few days longer.

Your trip apparently happens to be when they have the Poker Night in America events. Perhaps unfortunate timing, but it doesn't mean the schedule as a whole is bad for mixed games. They have to keep the lights on, and they probably booked the PNA thing before the WSOP schedule even came out.

I'm not complaining about the schedule, I just look for gap fillers between WSOP events, but... Why the other series don't look to employ this idea more generally is beyond me. Any series that offers me a $250-$500 mixed game tourney 2 days before the equiv WSOP event gets my vote!

Having said that, if the HORSE Champs are a 1-day event with a reasonable single-day structure, and I bust the Monster Stack, it looks like a great option before I head home.

Looks like plenty of comps for me to burn my money in.

I stand corrected. Perhaps horrible is not the right word and a bit harsh.
But I'm still disappointed. I have been coming to LV during the WSOP for a one week duration for a number of years. Last year I was able to play in two GN events before playing in the $1,500 HORSE event. The same was true the past few years. The GN really seemed to pick it up a bit under the new management. Enjoyed playing there and was looking forward to doing so again this year. Still will if I don't make it to day 3 of the WSOP HORSE event.

I'll be very happy if I can run as well this year as I did last year. Like most reading this, I'm really looking to the WSOP and all the other events going on during June/July
