Hello everyone, it's about that time! I've started the shell of GOLIATH 2020 and certainly looking to see what types of events you'd like to see more or less of, what variants, what you enjoyed at GOLIATH in 2019, and what you're hoping to see us do better in 2020. Goal is always to improve on the elements we can control.

Forum is pretty open, looking to start an active discussion and release Draft 1.0 as early as late January.

Thanks!
Chris

Thanks for asking.
Always make 1 or 2 events at PH during my WSOP trips. Would love to play a one day HORSE event if you can get the dealers.

Hi Chris
Thanks again for posting here!
1) early draft realease in January would be GREAT
2) liked the "... in a day" tournaments: usually cheap, with a good structure and prize pool for a 1 day commitment. I'd love to see more, perhaps everyday Mon/Fri? Perfect timing would be a 11am start with at least 3 hours of late reg.
3) what do you think about some cheap PLO tourneys in the afternoon? Low buy-in (150$/250$), 20mns levels… would be a great option as a "2nd chance turbo". It also could work with NLH bounties tourneys.
4) Goliath signature NLH events, with flights, are excellent and I hope they'll come back. If you can schedule 2 flights per day, 11am + 4pm are the best options imo.
5) would be super cool to include at least 2 mixed games tournaments per week. Could be HORSE, Dealers Choice, 8-game, Triple Stud, Hi-Lo Mix, Draw Mix, etc...

Have a great end of 2019 and see you next year!

Happy new year Chris.
We try to schedule non holdem events the day before or after the WSOP events...where the scheduling allows at least! Same concept for this year, hopefully.

Happy new year Chris.
Fair points and would love to take a shot at a bit higher price points for non NLH action.

Yes, it was. I had at least one (maybe more) in my drafts and had to remove unfortunately. It was one of those spots where I could have kept my event but it would have made for a poor showing at Ph as well as at the other houses offering it. Small player pool, certainly want it in the 2020 offerings!

More of the stud variants, from Stud and Stud-8 to razz and the triple-draw mix.

I would be remiss if I didn't make a request for at least one NLHE event that did not use the BBA, but I doubt that is going to occur...I miss tournament NLHE but won't play BBA events. A traditional ante Senior 6-max would be fun...they had that at Choctaw Durant a few years back and it drew well...

And please make sure that the dealers know how to deal the games for which they are at the table...this has gotten better over the past few years but a few still slip through the cracks that don't know what they are doing.

Thank you Chris for asking the players. I play the Goliath Events every year beside the WSOP Events

My wishes:

- NL Tournaments with buyin 300-600/800$
- “Main Event” or something similar in june not just at the end of the series
- max. 1 rebuy per tourn./flight (must not be for all tournaments)

I played quite a few events last year and I think this is probably the best run tournament series in Vegas, so really excited to play again this year.

The Short Deck NLHE tournament last year was a great idea in theory but horrible execution. The players sucked, the dealers didn't quite know what was going on, there were errors towards the end with chip counts, etc. That said, I really, really, really hope you offer this tournament again (and, honestly, I'd be cool with it being a higher buy-in if it happens to keep people out). It was the *only* NLHE tourney I even played last summer and I loved the format, just hated literally everyone I was playing with.

+1 to the other poster who said to offer Razz. Razz is the reason I'm personally out at the WSOP every summer. My problem was that the one held at PH was the day before the $1500 WSOP tourney. While I think it's great that you even held this, scheduling it the day before wasn't necessarily ideal. Needed some rest for the next day!

I'd love to see some additional mix game/HORSE/8-game tournies. I don't know what sort of turn out you get, but I imagine a lot of the people playing the dailies at Orleans would find their way over. I love PH, but I found myself at Orleans more often than not towards the end of the series/summer because that's where the mixed games were.

All that said, keep it up with the awesome dealers and great structure. Can't wait to be back for Goliath.

Slippery slope time...re-entry. I'm always willing to gamble pretty big on needing large fields to cover guarantees. This year the tentative plan is the same large guarantees with ~half the starting flights. V1.0 of my schedule only has one event that has starting flights across two days. Most of the two day, multi flight events will be over 1 day and have 2 - 4 starting flights.

Back to my inquiry, re-entry is a hot button issue lately. I want to continue to offer guarantees that need large fields to cover and am nervous to cap the number of entries per player and per flight. What's more appealing, a large guarantee with unlimited re-entry or a small to medium guarantee with a capped number of entries?

In 2015 I had a weekly tourney during GOLIATH that was called "one bullet" or something along those lines. $500 buy in / $25K GTD. My player counts were as follows - 62, 57, 64, 43, and 39. 2015 was the last year I offered a freeze out during GOLIATH.

Let's see where the conversation goes...

i like capped entries and im always frustrated with ph excessively late entry policy. Don't allow people to late register 6 hours after the start of a 1 day tournament. 3 hours is more than reasonable.

Personally, I'd rather limit the levels/time for buy-ins and re-entries than guarantee a prize pool. If you bust out after playing for 3 hours - especially in Vegas in June - there are plenty of other options if you still want to play.

Prize pool guarantee means nothing to me

Prize pool guarantee is everything to me. Don't listen to these posters, they are not representative of the majority.

For folks (like me) who tend to fly in the day before the WSOP event I'm going to play in, it would be great to have an option at PH for a tournament starting at 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon, or even an evening event starting at 5:00 or 6:00. In my case, the day before the Seniors. You generally have a "consolation" seniors that runs the same day as day #2 of the WSOP seniors at the Rio (I cashed in that one last year), which is also great, but even for that event, for the guys who bust out in the afternoon and who are going home in a few days, it would be nice to have an evening option for a $250 or $300 buy-in that runs on a semi-turbo structure so that it's winding up around the same time as the one-day event that started at 10:00 a.m. Just a thought. Thanks for being open to suggestions!

Hi Chris,

Thanks again for creating that thread and taking into consideration players point of view.

About the re-entry talk : Unlimited re-entry is all good for me but the last two year I didn't like the duration of the late reg, I dont think you should allow people to register with 6-8bb, it is quite ridiculous.
I think the late reg should be close when the starting stack is 20-25bb not less.

I gathering all the info again this year for my website so you work is very much appreciated !!
