The only mix they have in June now is a $470 HORSE warmup the day before the $1500 and also a random $1100 HORSE later in the month. I'd say this gives PH an opening to put in some of these $470 consolations at 11am the day after the $1500 dealers choice, mixed triple draw, 8game, 2-7nlsd, 2-7td, and more. The reason I say 11am for these events is often there's another $1500 WSOP mix event at 3pm.
Actually, it looks like most WSOP "mixed game" (non-NLHE) tournaments have at least 1 off day in between if <= $3000.

The only "back to back" exceptions with events <= $3000:
6/2, 3p: 1500 DC
6/3, 3p: 1500 NL 2-7 SD *not many in mixed game crowd would play NL 2-7 SD

6/8, 3p: 1500 8 game
6/9, 11a: 600 PLO
6/9, 3p: 1500 stud 8

6/12, 11a: 1000 PLO
6/13, 3p: 1500 2-7 TD *there is some overlap b/w PLO and 2-7 TD crowds.

6/18, 11a: 600 NLHE/PLO
6/18, 3p: 2500 Big Bet Mix

Chris,

Aria & GN have released their schedules, so that may be it until April.

There's two conflicts between PH & GN:

6/24 GN $360 Big O; PH $200 PLO8 - This is all the more reason to increase BI to ~$600 (and possibly move it as well)

6/26 GN $570 Mixed O8; PH $1100 Big O - You should strongly consider moving this event, as it will be a tough choice for the PLO8 crowd. If you decide to keep it here, maybe make it a Goliath stack?

There's a lot of room for PLO8 & Big O in the June 6-22 period (a lot of PLO 6/9-6/12 & 6/15-6/17... FLO8 on 6/14), the only caveat being that Venetian will likely hold a couple such events during that time as well.

On the 24th, given that the WSOP PLO8 is the next day, I would suggest that a $600 PLO8 with at least a $40k guarantee is going to attract more people who would otherwise consider the $360 GN Big O with its $10k guarantee. I would not recommend moving the event but otherwise agree with AINTD.

I am struggling with the conflict on the 26th. On the one hand, I think the PLO8 crowd would rather play this event than GN's Mixed O event, even though there is a WSOP Mixed O event the next day. On the other hand, selfishly, I would love to play both events and the only way that happens is if PH switches the event with another day.

That should work.

I tend to agree, but it seems rather uncertain. With a more moderate BI as a warm-up available downtown, it will be somewhat split IMO.
I would also like to play both events and think it would be wise to move it. The only reason not to move it is to avoid a potential conflict with a Venetian PLO8 event, but the probability of that is ~20-25%(?), compared to the certainty of a viable alternative at GN if it's left as is.

with the exception of 8 and 6 max, do you guys play 9 handed? and is it in the same spot as WSOPC was in NOV?

cheers

I think this is a good compromise.
For PH, I think $200 is even a high price point. I've been playing their events the last 4 years and the fields are not like the GN or even the Aria gets. I've found that around a third of the PH players just happen to be staying in the hotel and are casual players vs the GN where you'll even run into pro's in the daily $150.

Goal is always 9 handed but will go 10 handed in the event we are projected to hit max capacity

Cue the 11 handed joke that someone is sure to fire off

As in the highest or lowest rake?

Comparing a GOLIATH $600 buy in to another $600 buy in on the strip - GOLIATH was $520 + $80 (which is accurately spelled out on the flyer, no hidden fees on the bottom of a structure sheet or extra % withheld) and the other venue charged $87 in rake for a $600 buy in.

Comparing with that same venue for a $300 buy in, GOLIATH was $255+$45 whereas the other venue charged $53 in rake.

I believe our rake is very competitive for the starting chips / structures offered and also accurately spelled out on our main flyers. Other venues in town still advertise $xxx + $xx and then you have to scroll down to one of the final bullet points of the structure sheet to see that there's an additional x% withheld.

Venetian schedule out. Their 800 Mixed PLO and GN's 570 Mixed O8 on 6/26 make it a no brainer to move PH 1100 Big O event from same day. There is nice gap on 6/17 or 18 (days 2,3 WSOP 1500 PLO).

The just released Orleans 2019 Summer poker Series has some potential conflicts with the Goliath 2019 draft (sadly):
6/1, 6p - $200 NLHE Short Deck
6/7, 11a - $300 big bet mix (NLHE, PLO, PLO8, Big O, NL 2-7 SD)
6/8, 11a - $400 8 game mix
6/14, 2p - $300 Triple Draw Mix
6/16, 11a - $400 PLO

Perhaps consider swapping these tournaments:
6/1 (Dealer's Choice) and 6/2 (Short Deck)
6/7 (NL 2-7 SD) and 6/8 (8 Game Mix)
This could allow 2 days worth of "warm ups".

To avoid 6/14 conflict, maybe move up the 500 PLO to 6/14, 200 PLO to 6/15, and 200 triple draw to 6/16. (It also avoids the weekly Sunday 250 PLO deep stack at the Rio.)

Sorry to see conflicts to your potential schedule, but it might work out too. Some people might play SNGs the day before. Some may not bother going off strip.

Binion's could release their schedule any day, and Wynn looks to release next week.

Hopefully, you can try to find a good balance and get things to work. Kudos as usual for listening to player feedback, and hopefully it's not too late to make suggested changes.

Loved to see the Orleans schedule. They’re stepping up providing $400 mixed game events that Aria no longer is, and with sizable guarantees too. I’ll def be playing the Orleans events. Hope PH can match is some way.

Everyone should focus on what works best for the entire populous, not what you think would work well for the schedule YOU want. Some of these suggestions are so blatantly self serving.

Binion's schedule is released as of an hour ago.
https://twitter.com/JB_BinionsPoker/...30405068034048

Potential conflict with draft:
6/20 - 1100 PLO Day 1B (6/21 - Day 2)

Wynn's twitter just released it moments ago.
https://www.visitwynn.com/documents/...?sf210156584=1

Potential conflict with draft:
6/16 - 550 PLO

On the plus side, you have perfect info if your goal is to avoid conflict (unless some other LV casino runs a tournament series).

Starting to finalize things - it may be a bit more difficult to make wholesale changes to our non - NLH events as originally hoped. Lots of competition in that sector to say the least. Many great suggestions in this thread and I wish I could implement them all...unfortunately there are internal and external factors that will prevent me from doing so. Not saying no changes are being made, many positive changes are being made. Hope to release next week.

Thanks for listening to suggestions as usual. I've always been appreciative of tournament directors listening to suggestions. Personally, I want to try to help build the non-NLHE events to grow that segment and fill in gaps.

It's understandable if some events have little/no flexibility. I understand maximizing schedule based on other tournament series, meeting guarantees (especially in the multi-flight NLHE), securing dealers (especially non-NLHE or PLO dealers), getting table space, and other factors that I can't recall, can add restraints to what can be scheduled.

I'll go out of character and make a NLHE suggestion: It looks like there is a huge hole on 6/18 and 6/19 for "open" $150-1100 NLHE MTTs with 11a/noon starts (excluding ladies and senior events).
$240 Wynn on 6/18 @ 7:00PM, $600 NLHE Bounty Venetian on 6/18 @ 6:00PM, and WSOP.com online NLHE on 6/19 @ 3:30PM are only small-mid stakes open MTTs on 6/18 and 6/19. Hopefully, PH can fill that gap for the NLHE players.

I look forward to seeing the schedule and hopefully firing some bullets in the Goliath.

Why does everything have a guarantee for first? Does that appeal to people? It seems to me like it insures top heaviness and higher variance for recreational players like me.
