Re: GOLIATH 2019

The $1K PLO/8 is something I'm 50/50 on whether I play depending on other options around town (PLO/8 @ lower price point on adjacent days, or WSOP bracelet events compete for my attention when it goes over $1K. At $600, I'm 90%+ sure I'm playing it.

I personally won't be in town during the $200 PLO/8, but agree with other sentiment that $200 is too low. I probably would play it if travel plans allowed, but I'd be happier at $400.

I guess for PLO/8, I'm a 3 bears kind of guy where $400 - 600 is just right...

Re: GOLIATH 2019

Just to jump on the bandwagon, the mixed game warmups need to be a higher price point. I 100% would not bother going to PH to play a 200 the day before WSOP, but if it was 500+ you have my money.

agrred on making the plo/8 warm up $400-$600 range, $200 is just too low..

Re: GOLIATH 2019

I'll be hoping to miss the 2-7TD event. I understand that you don't think you'll have the seats to run the 2-7TD the day before the WSOP event. But when you get a poor turn-out holding the event on the WSOP day 2, please don't use 'waning popularity' as a reason to cut it the following year. Remember that the most passionate 2-7 players will still be at the Rio.

Re: GOLIATH 2019

Feedback has been great so far. Will look to raise some price points on non - NLH tourneys. I will keep some at the $200 level as I feel that is a good price point for someone to take a shot that hasn't every played something non - NLH.

As far as some scheduling requests go, it may be hard to alter some of the non - NLH events.

I guess I'll also state my (minority) opinion that I like the $200 price point. I just find anything higher outside of WSOP to be too tough for my liking.

I think this is a good compromise.

Itís a tough spot but what has made some of these non NLH events fantastic, and well supported in the last couple of years, is that they serve as warm ups for the WSOP event the next day. 27 TD the day after the $1.5k WSOP event misses the point. Please, if at all possible, pull this event forward two days so it can still serve as the warm up. Thanks.

Re: GOLIATH 2019

Hello @tdchrisg you have scheduled six different "50k in a day" between June 1st and 16th, the first 4 in full ring and the last 2 in 6 handed. Can you switch the one on June 7 with the one on June 9 to have a better balance ? I come for the Big 50 (an I stay only one week) and I would like to play a 6 handed event not too expensive ?

june 1st Full Ring-> Full Ring
june 2nd Full Ring-> Full Ring
june 7th Full Ring-> 6 handed
june 8th Full Ring-> Full Ring
june 9th 6 handed-> Full Ring
june 16th 6 handed->6 handed

Most of the people who played the $1500 WSOP will have been eliminated on Day 1, and will have travel plans to be there on the day after the $1500 event, so there's no reason the PH can't be the "consolation" instead of the "warmup" for people who are passionate about 2-7.

I do agree that I would prefer to see more $350-400 offerings than $200, and I think Chris having some of each is a great compromise for all audiences. I do also see the value of $100-200 tournies in mixed games so that people can try them. Maybe the mixed games that are the day before or the day after WSOP events can be the $300-600 range, since more of the players won't be first-timers, but fans of those games, and the "stand-alones" can be the $100-200 range to try to lure in first-timers.

For example, I love HORSE and O8 and wouldn't be excited about a $150 of those necessarily, but could imagine playing a $150 2-7, which is a game I've never played before (and wouldn't play a $300-600 of).

Would you expect more people to play this event as a consolation the day after the WSOP 27 TD rather than play this event as a warm up / satellite for the WSOP event? You might be right but personally, I like my starter before my main course. I have enjoyed supporting Chris and the Goliath series mixed games in the last couple of years but it would be much harder for me to do so with the 27 TD year, as scheduled.

I dunno, I can only speak for myself. I would be hesitant to impact my main course with a starter.

Also, if I only have a set window of time off, I would be much more likely to play the smaller buyin event scheduled for Day 2 of the WSOP event if I bust the WSOP Day 1, since I already had to plan to be in Vegas on that day. I would be less likely to adjust my travel schedule for a "warm-up" event the day before.

Re: GOLIATH 2019

Hi Chris,
Thanks for adding a small buy HU tournament, im sure you will get to the cap very easely.
Any chance to put back the Event #51 from last year, the 2-day 6max 100k garanty event with a buy-in of $400.

I really liked the 50k in the day tournament, very nice struture for a single day tournament.

No more Milly event with the 1Millions garanty ? I don't think you had any overlay last year.

Thank you so much for getting in touch with the players, its very much appreciated

Re: GOLIATH 2019

the low buyin plo may work better nearer the wsop lower buyin plo events. wsop has 600 on thte 10th and 1000 on the 12th. all of goliath plo events are a week later. Maybe move one to the 8th, 9th, 11th or 13th?

or worried about other non-wsop properties doing plo events these days and don't want to compete directly?

It's currently on same day as weekly $250 PLO at Rio, so would make sense to either move it or make it a $500-800 Mixed PLO or something.

Re: GOLIATH 2019

Thanks for taking feedback as in past years.

Although waiting for Aria would be ideal (since they're most likely to conflict on non-PLO/PLO8/NLHE), I think they have some good insight for entries for different tournaments.

I guess the question is: Are you trying to focus more on Golden Nugget crowd with $200 buyin events, or the $400-800 events from Venetian, Aria, and Wynn?
I think many may draw a dotted line at a $1k buyin event.

The newer WSOP structures are a bit deeper. There may be fewer bustouts by day 2 compared to past years.

For the smaller buyin "warmups", people might be more likely to fire SNGs for similar price points.
Reference points:
6 handed limit tournaments (like Dealer's Choice, 2-7 TD) SNGs are generally $290/6
8 handed limit tournaments (like HORSE) SNGs are generally $215/8.
Source: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/a6yov6rr4...89eWnr0pa?dl=0

I'd prefer a larger DC buyin on 6/2, as I'd be more likely to fire a SNG.

Preliminary kudos:
6/15 and 6/20 PLO
6/26 Big O
6/29 PLO8
I hope the NL 2-7 SD tournament goes well! I wish it could be on a different day, but I think it could do well to introduce people to the game.

Re: GOLIATH 2019

Chris,

Any chance you can throw in an O8 event somewhere around the WSOP $1500 O8 which is on Thursday, May 30th?

Maybe on Wednesday, May 29th or June 1st or 2nd? May want to wait until the Nugget, Binions and Venetian put out their schedules to make a final decision if you decide to add one.

Thanks for listening.

+1 For higher price points on mixed games
$300-500 sounds more fun than the $165+35

Re: GOLIATH 2019

Chris, also note the Aria Poker Classic schedule just came out and they've gotten rid of most $470 mix events, namely the mixed triple draw and 2-7nlsd (now they're $240s in July well away from the corresponding $1500s). The only mix they have in June now is a $470 HORSE warmup the day before the $1500 and also a random $1100 HORSE later in the month. I'd say this gives PH an opening to put in some of these $470 consolations at 11am the day after the $1500 dealers choice, mixed triple draw, 8game, 2-7nlsd, 2-7td, and more. The reason I say 11am for these events is often there's another $1500 WSOP mix event at 3pm.

Feedback is appreciated - note that I won't be scheduling an event at GOLIATH if it has commonalities with a WSOP event on the same day...basically what you referenced above.
