Is being corrected to 20k

No one should be surprised or shocked. And its not last minute yet. The series hasn't started.

Among the things you consistently rail about, this one actually has a chance to be accepted by the majority of poker players. You're right. Estimated prize pools are virtually meaningless and purposefully misleading, particularly in a series that has nothing else but guarantees.

While I don't really care if any governing body ever "outlaws" them, I feel like players should strongly discourage TDs from promoting them. Seeing as its your style, why don't you start a stand-alone thread title something along the lines of "Why I'm opposed to the misleading prize pool shenanigans at PH". That would indicate your authentic opposition to what PH is doing.

Cliffs for event 1A:

-lighting is terrible
-100/500 chips look identical (i heard they will use different chips for all other flights)
-78 entries (8 advance)
-A few were discussing the "guarantee" and most tourists were like "wah...what??"
-people were not happy with this.
-Quantum team on site is very confident the prize pool will be "well over 150k" (we will see..)

this will be our least used chip set...Quantum will have a different chip set for each day. The set used today is primarily for satellites or daily turbo tourneys.

Thanks.
I registered today and they are considering changing the structure but wouldn't commit to it.

With that being said I'm entry 1 for the HU PLO

If we all make it clear it's what we want they'll do it I hope. It really is a shame if they don't do it.

It looks like the concerns about the Quantum structure are bearing out in the entries. According to PH's Twitter, there were 170 entries in the Thursday flights (the only flights it made mathematical sense to play) with 17 advancing. Those flights were $100+30 with 10% advancing and $300 to each advancing player. So those 17 players each contribute an average $700 to the prizepool.

The Friday flights, which were $200+40 with 12% advancing, had fields of only 17 and 26, or 43 total, with 5 advancing. That's $8600 from the buyins, but with 5 players advancing, you take out $1500 for the $300 bonuses (leaving $7100 assuming there was no payout to a 6th player). Which means the 5 players from Friday each contribute an average of $1420 to the Day 2 prizepool. Each one effectively paid more than twice as much as the Thursday players. I'm ignoring the fact that at least one of the Friday advancing players had already advanced on Thursday, advancing his best stack and getting a $1500 bonus (more than the Day 2 direct buyin).

We'll see how today's flights go. Today is $305+45 with 15% advancing. These are the flights that make the least sense to play, but every entry does subsidize the shortfall from the earlier flights. By my rough math, PH will need at least 185 or so entries between the two flights today to reach a point where the average prizepool contribution from Flights A through F will at least equal the $1350 Day 2 direct buy-in. If they don't get to that, buying in directly on Day 2 would effectively just be paying the shortfall from the A+B flights, and because of the best-stack-forward the Day 2 buyins would be coming in for less than average stack. It would be a -EV play (ignoring edge over the field, of course). And on the flipside, all this means playing Flights A&B on Thursday was a great bargain.

I feel bad for Chris, but we all brought this to his attention. It will be interesting to see how many players ignore these concerns and buy into Flights E&F today anyway.

Don't worry though, they'll definitely get enough from the next two days to add 131k to the prizepool to get it to 150k for sure.

For the June 16 - 19 Quantum event the decision has been made to make everything proportionate with the starting flights and number of players advancing. 200 + 35 = 10k chips w 10% advancing, 300 + 40 =15K chips w 15% advancing, and 400 + 50 = 20k chips w 20% advancing.

The two plus two community was completely right on this one and I apologize for not doing more to correct it beforehand. As always thanks for the feedback.

As an example, here is Matt Savage's structure of a HU $570 tournament at LAPC a couple of months ago

http://www.commercecasino.com/wp-con...ads/LAPC24.pdf

We got 12,500 chips, blinds are

50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1k
600/1.2k

So after 9 levels we get to average stack 10bb.

Yours is 100/200, 200/400, 300/600 etc. Basically at level 2 you already have just an all in stack more or less.

I don't wanna sound like chainsaw but really you should consider changing the structure (or add more chips, like make it 15k if that's easier for you.) Same thing applies for the PLO HU tournament. Please consider some sort of change (ideally blind change - take Savage's structure for example.)
Community has spoken so the following changes will be made...

HU1 PLO will now be 15K chips w our posted structure and each round is best 2 of 3.

HU2 NLH will now be 15K chips w our posted structure and the semi - final and final round will be best 2 of 3.

I suggested this fix from the onset. Unless the math is the same for all buyins. the quantum concept will benefit one buyin level over others.

Good on you for fixing it, wish it hadn't taken the low turnout of the first one to do it, but glad you got it right in the end.

Bringing back the guarantee on the second one, with a proportionate structure, and I bet you'd reach the guarantee pretty easily.

Apologies. I've quickly scanned this thread looking to see if PH has a Phamous room rate for people playing in the series, but didn't see anything. Is there a rate for series players, nightly/weekends? And if so, what are requirements to obtain. Thanks in advance 2p2er's!
