Looks like they've switched things around a bit. Here's the schedule posted on their website: https://www.goldennugget.com/globala...edule-2018.pdf

Have they released the structure sheets for the 2018 Golden Nugget Grand Series events yet?

They're just working out exactly how they want to implement the button/bb ante

Looks like they moved the $365 Big O originally scheduled for Monday, June 25 to the previous day, which now puts it directly against Aria's $470 PLO8. That seems like an odd move.

Anyone play the Cheap and Deep Event last year? Besides being $40 cheaper and no guarantee listed, how does this differentiate itself from the $150/ $20k GTD daily? Do they shorten levels and double the starting stack? How big a field did it draw last year?

Very last structure sheet just says 'Nightly 7PM'.

1. When does that start/end?

2. How is that structure sheet different from the 3rd structure sheet--the one for the nightly tournaments 5/29, 5/30, 7/1, 7/2, & 7/3?

3. Any logic to the numbering? E.g. why no Event #14, #35, #73-#75?

4. How does one get invited to the Bar League tournament?

Other than that, let the BB ante discussion consume this thread as well (event #69).

Event #8 $150 with $40 going to juice. 27% to the house/dealers. Damn.

Staying there, but not playing any of their comps.

Will play a couple of the Binions $365 comps, and might give away $1k in the PLO if by some chance I've won at cash

FWIW I am not aware of any requirement to get the tourney rate. Learned there was a special rate after I had already made a reservation. Called, gave the code and they switched me over. Saved about $15 night.

This is not a tournament that has an “invite” but rather these players “qualify” from playing local bar leagues around the country. I don’t remember the name of the league, just got subjected to having it play out during GN Main 2016, the dealers could not stop talking about how horrible the players were. I think Boski may have commentated last year.

Plog- major changes to the Main structure including no green chips and incorporating the big blind ante, was one of the best values of the summer. Still looks to be a great value but wondering how you feel about the structure year over year.

Not sure about the poker rate but I signed up for their 24k rewards program and never played anywhere in the casino, must have needed it to register last year and not prior. I have a summer email offer May-Aug with two free nights Sunday through Thursday (just pay resort fee) and $79 Fri and Sat which I am sure anyone can get and probably beats the poker rate.

SMPoker--

Here's what I have for the Golden Nugget NLH main event back to 2015:

Year - Rake - Spoints
2015 - 10.7% - 88
2016 - 12.3% - 112
2017 - 12.3% - 102
2018 - 12.3% - 94

I would say it's worse, but not significantly. When you compare it to other similarly priced ($500- $999) 2018 NLH tournaments in Vegas (http://www.rainbowspuppiessunshine.c...c/analysis.php) it's a good value for both rake and structure.

Thank you plog! I find your analysis the most useful when deciding what to play.

I noticed for the Golden Nugget Senior event on 6/14 that there was a $10 "optional" 5000 chip add on (to the 10,000 starting stack) for "The Seniors Charities, a 501c3 organization". I did a Google search in the same name and somehow could not come up with anything. The Senior Event (and I just noticed the 6/18 Super Senior event) were the only events I could find where the participants got the opportunity to contribute. What is going on here? Please tell me they are not attempting to further fleece the Seniors in what already are events with basically unbeatable rakes.

The Seniors Charity is legit (in the sense that it's a registered charity):

Apparently they misspelled charities when they applied to the IRS for their EIN. LOL charties.

I must be misunderstanding. For the $200 Unlimited re-entry on June 21st the structure sheet mentions if you make day 2 with multiple stacks you'll get $1500 for the smaller stack(s) and they'll be pulled from play. Does that mean if you limp in with a tiny stack you get $1500 for it?!

Anyone planning to play the Main Event?
Better take a second look at the structure sheet! I last played this event in 2016 and it had a great structure. Now it is terrible with no play as you get deeper into the event. This is not a debate about the BB ante, but the whole structure has been shortened.

In 2016 Level 18 was 2500/5000 with 500 ante. Now 5000/10000 with 10k BB ante. Just example, this way throughout.

Same starting stack as 2016 (25k).

Too bad, it was the one event they had with OK rake, and it is a nice room to play in; but they really screwed it up.
