PartyPoker Live Million (560€ buy-in) event in Nova Gorica (Slovenia).
Day 1a; starting stack 60k; Level 5 (200/400/400)

Hero (tight image, 66k stack) opens to 1.200 from UTG+2 with AsAd. MP1 and MP2 both call. Villain (no information; looked tight aggressive; 75k stack) 3-bets to 6.000. Action folded to Hero. Hero 4-bets to 16.000. MP1 and MP2 fold. Villain thinks for half a minute and calls.

Flop: (pot = 35.400) Flop comes 4cKh7d. Hero decides to check. Villain bets 9.000 and Hero calls.
Turn: (pot = 53.400) Turn = 9s. Hero checks, Villain bets 30.000. Hero goes into tank, decides to push the remaining 41.000 into the pot. Villain snap calls and shows KK.
Rver: 5d. Hero is eliminated.

I decided to check the flop for protection against KK, getting value from AK and letting some potential bluffs in. Same reasoning for the turn check. I was thinking of folding on the turn, but decided to get it in because I thought Villain would play AK the same way (and a bluff, however small the chance of him having a bluff; maybe QQ or JJ).

What do you think of Hero's line of play? Could I lay down aces there, without having any real reads on the player? Thank you for your reply.

WP.

Never folding with this SPR but it definitely feels gross on the turn. Feeling gross doesn't make it a fold, though. I'm not sure V could be thin value betting QQ or JJ with his bet sizing on the turn, so you're pretty much looking at AK/KK or him turning a smaller pair or AQ into a bluff since you could easily be repping TT-QQ. I actually think he made a very poor bet sizing with KK on a super super dry board since he could have bet a lot less on the turn and still played for stacks on the river with ease. He risked scaring away a lot of hands he was way ahead of. That bet sizing makes me less worried about KK so I'm definitely not folding (I'd have been expecting to see AK/99 or a smaller pair when he called my shove).

Yeah, once 1/4 of stack is in pre, can't really fold here, villain can have AK or the other AA. No real reason to jam turn though.

No reason to jam turn but it was probably irrelevant anyway. V's poor bet sizing on the turn pretty much guaranteed that.

Yeah, no I agree. It's going to be better to call turn, then jam river vs call-happy villain and check-call vs bluff-happy one, but we don't know which we have anyway, so shrug.

never folding here. You can't put in 1/4 of your stack and then fold. There are too many other hands that he can possibly have.

Your reasoning to check on the flop doesn’t make sense to me. There is no protection against KK there since the villain will eventually get most of not all of their chips in the middle whether you bet first or not. Don’t really think you could have done anything differently post flop. Hover, I don’t like your bet-sizing pre flop. If you’re going to 4-bet pre and basically turn your hand face up, given your image, you need to bet bigger to make set-miners think twice. In this particular situation it’s unlikely the villain would have folded, but still, you gave any pair a pretty good price to set mine. You could have also considered just flatting the 3-bet. I understand the inclination to try and thin the field, and I suppose it depends on your read of the two MP flatters, but a flat there could have kept the pot significantly smaller and may have led to either an easier fold or less damage.
