EPT Season 11 - Schedule Announcement Thread

Hi all,

We've announced (most of) the schedule for EPT Season 11!

--------------------
EUROPEAN POKER TOUR ANNOUNCES DATES FOR EPT SEASON 11

The EPT announced some dates today for the forthcoming Season 11 – kicking off with Europe’s largest-ever poker festival in Barcelona in August to celebrate the 100th EPT.

Five European destinations have been confirmed at this stage and all will run in conjunction with PokerStars’ national and regional tours in Europe. The EPT Barcelona Poker Festival will join the Estrellas Poker Tour for a festival running August 16-27. The EPT London Poker Festival will again include the UKIPT and take place from October 8-18. The EPT Prague Poker Festival – which attracted a record-breaking 1,007-strong field for the Main Event this season – will again team up with the Eureka Poker Tour and run from December 7-17 while in Deauville, the EPT and France Poker Series (FPS) will join forces for a 11-day festival from January 28 to February 7, 2015. The Season 11 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final will incorporate the FPS and take place April 29 – May 8, 2015. Further stops will be confirmed at a later date.

EPT Barcelona August 16 - 27, 2014; EPT Main Event August 21-27
EPT London October 8-18, 2014; EPT Main Event October 12-18
EPT Prague December 7-17, 2014; EPT Main Event December 11-17
EPT Deauville January 28 – February 7, 2015, EPT Main Event February 1-7
EPT Grand Final April 29 - May 8, 2015 EPT Main Event May 2-5

Season 10’s festivals around Europe have already pulled in more than 45,000 entries and the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final is set to add at least 4,000 or more. The EPT Barcelona festival, which attracted more than 9,000 entries this season, is expected to set new European prize pool and attendance records when it returns to Casino Barcelona in August.

Enhancements to tournament schedules include dedicated €200 Seniors Events at most stops, lower buy-ins for the Women’s Events plus chances to qualify online for more events including new non-No Limit Hold’em “Championship Events” at most stops featuring variants such as HORSE, Stud and Omaha. There will also be more satellites than ever before on the various PokerStars platforms giving as many players as possible the chance to complete.

Further information on the EPT is available online at http://psta.rs/1jzwCXX

EPT London (October 12-18) will have a reduced buy-in to £4,000 + £250 (approximately €5,100) to bring it in line with Main Event buy-ins at the other EPT tour stops.

---------------------

Cliffs -

EPT Barcelona August 16 - 27, 2014; EPT Main Event August 21-27
EPT London October 8-18, 2014; EPT Main Event October 12-18
EPT Prague December 7-17, 2014; EPT Main Event December 11-17
EPT Deauville January 28 – February 7, 2015, EPT Main Event February 1-7

Re: EPT Season 11 - Schedule Announcement Thread

Hi all,

Quick explanation about the non-NLH Championships. Anyone who has followed my posts over time here knows that I (and the EPT) are dedicated to making sure we have some quality non-NLH on the EPT. Each stop on the EPT has different logistics based on what games are legal and what aren't, so we are trying to layer in the non-NLH appropriately to each location. The base schedule is as below and feel free to comment if you think that I'm nuts or that we got it right.

We are currently setting them for 30K stacks and 30 minute levels. There was some structure discussion in the Sanremo thread as we haven't confirmed the Limit structures yet for EPT11.

EPT Barcelona -

1K PLO8
1K LO8
1K NLO8

EPT London -

1K HORSE
1K 8 Game
1K ???

EPT Prague -

1K PLO
1K NLO
1K LO

EPT Deauville -

1K Pot Limit Holdem
1K Limit Holdem
1K - ???

-------------

This does leave the Stud games unaccounted for at this point, but there are also unannounced stops

Deauville is tough since Deauville only has 5 legal games to play...NLH, PLH, LH, PLO, LO. Those are the only games, so we have to work within that regulatory framework.

Re: EPT Season 11 - Schedule Announcement Thread

Hi all,

Regarding the Senior's Events and the Women's Events, we are setting both events at €200 and 10K stacks, 30 minute levels.

We also will have Junior's Events at some point this season We just aren't sure yet if we want to make them 21 and under or 24/25ish and under.

Cheers,

I assume EPT Berlin is still an option and you are working hard to make it possible.

Some of those numbers about entrants is staggering, well done for the 1st decade. I'm a big fan of tying in the regional events with the EPT's and I'm an even bigger fan of adding online sats to various Side events. Keep up the fine work.

Reasoning for holding EPT London on top of WSOP APAC?

Would some form of ante up be allowed in deauville? ie technically nlhe with very large antes
If not I think it would be a decent idea for another stop anyway.

Plhe is pretty much a dead game and really almost no-one would prefer it to nl but it will still get players since it's similar enough. there are a few interesting differences with short stacks so don't mind it too much for one tourney if it's turboish. Deep stacked plhe will not be much fun and will last forever

30k/30 mins for big bet games sounds like starting silly deep and then becoming turbo in the endgame, it would be much better to level avg bbs out a bit imo. if you do it at least keep registration open a long time so you don't have to sit through a lot of inconsequential early levels if you don't want to.

Imo overall promoting a couple of game types per stop is a much better approach than randomly throwing a crazy pot limit double board game in the schedule every now and then

Do the festival dates include the dates for the local tours?

Re: EPT Season 11 - Schedule Announcement Thread

Hi all,

Pose - 4 - Silence is all I can offer at this point, sorry

Sect - 5 - Thanks! We are really proud of the success and appreciate all of the support the players have shown us over the seasons!

Kev - 6 - The conflict with WSOP was unavoidable. Even though WSOP announced their dates first, we were already booked into the venue at that time with no ability to move. While there was a small possibility that we could have moved into September, we will not conflict an EPT with WCOOP.

David - 7 - ONE double board game in 10 seasons and you won't let me forget it I do agree with you though and that is why we want to focus things tighter and better for EPT11. Big Ante NLH could definitely work and I have added it to my list for EPT11 discussions. We also haven't sorted the structures for EPT11, so I am definitely interested in everyone's feedback on the structures for the non-NLH. In the SR thread they were talking about 50 big bets. In Sanremo itself, we ended up opening the Draw on level 5 and playing the first 4 levels for an hour each before moving into 30 minute levels.

Joroy - 8 - We loosely announced the dates for Barcelona in October when we announced the full schedule for the next season of Estrellas. We officially announced the dates for EPT Barcelona during the PCA. Neither us nor the Hard Rock want these events to conflict and there are discussions taking place, but they might end up having to. We cannot change our dates and in fact these dates have been locked for 2014 for a couple of years now. Due to the popularity of the venue in Barcelona as a conference space, we book years in advance for that EPT stop.

Instan - 10 - Yes they do, for example, Estrellas starts on the 16th.

-----------------

Conflicts- Conflicts within the calendar are not ideal and believe me, no operator wants to conflict. Why would any operator intentionally limit their own player pool? The big groups are aware of each other's dates at least 90% of the time I would guess. Most of the time the issue comes down to the availability of the venues. We had discussions with WPT about our dates for Sanremo and Monaco so they would be aware when our events were taking place as they scheduled the move of the WPT Championship to Borgata. We also moved Sanremo by a couple of days after we found out the dates of the 10M GTD WPT Hard Rock Hollywood for April to try and allow for players to play both events. No one wants major conflicts, but sometimes they are unavoidable.

----------------

Neil

Re: EPT Season 11 - Schedule Announcement Thread

Have only made it briefly to two stops this year (would have been three had Berlin not been moved) but still really liking the direction that the festivals are going in and love the idea of the 1k events of different disciplines at each stop. It seems EPT has stabilised on a regular circuit of venues that works for the tour, but I really like to go to new places, so I would love EPT/Stars to keep making festivals and events (either national tours or one offs) in new countries/cities as that is a big incentive for me to visit and play poker somewhere new!

Question for Neil - Can you tell us when the day ones of Estrellas Barcelona are. Are they Saturday/Sunday or Sunday/Monday or maybe even three day ones? Thanks!

Re: EPT Season 11 - Schedule Announcement Thread

I really like Bergeroo's idea of having 1 off events in new locations. Probably partnering up with Full Tilt might be a good plan to give them some exposure.

Buy ins should be about 1k with varying side event buy ins.

Re: EPT Season 11 - Schedule Announcement Thread

Hi all,

Berg - 12 - In reference to new locations, I completely agree and love travelling to the new places! There are a few things in the works, but nothing I can publicly discuss. We definitely aren't locked into just the existing stops for each different tour though.

Estrellas Barcelona - This will have three day 1's covering Sat/Sun/Mon. The Super High Roller is also slightly earlier (Mon - Wed) since we will be filming four heats of Shark Cage (qualifiers in June I think?) in Barcelona on EPT ME day 1A/1B. The other big switch is that the Estrellas Mini (€300 + €30) which we were forced to cap to a small number last year because of space is being given FOUR day ones with single re-entry per day (4 days = 8 bullets). It will have Day 1a,b,c during Estrellas Main Event Day 1a,b,c and it will have Day 1d on Estrellas Day 2. Since Day 2 of the Mini will be at 8pm on Day 3 of the Estrellas Main, it means everyone will have a chance to play both events if they choose to. By the time Day 2 of the Mini starts, there should be 2 tables or less left in the Estrellas Main so the chances you could be stuck trying to multi-table at this point are slim

Sect - 13 - They're currently completing the Live Events plan for FT. It is looking pretty good and I hope everyone ends up happy with it. You wouldn't see their events in any regulated markets though as FT doesn't have licenses in .FR, .ES, .EE, etc...

Joroy - 14 - No worries, I didn't take it as a complaint As I said, we moved Sanremo so players could try and play both events a couple of weeks ago. If I was a player I would want to play both as well. I haven't been to Hard Rock but I hear good things and Barcelona is...well...Barcelona!

Cheers,

Neil

Thank you for listening when I mentioned about doing 1k non-hold em championships last year. Is there any glimpse of hope of having both an EPT Berlin and Vienna this season? And also just another +1 on the idea of having an EPT Zurich (from the San Remo thread).

Definitely making it out to Prague this year. Hopefully Vienna too as all I heard was amazing things about it. Hopefully I'll have as much fun as most others have told me they've had.

Re: EPT Season 11 - Schedule Announcement Thread

I want to suggest making more stops at locations with more reasonable prices. Barcelona and Prague both have low costs and are extremely popular, the more expensive places get fewer participants. The reason is quite simple, if I expect to have like 10% ROI playing €10k worth of events then having €2k costs makes the trip pointless from earning potential point of view. I'm very likely not going to London, PCA and Monaco for this reason next season though I did go this one. I'm sure there are more players thinking this way.

Also I'd want to suggest as one of the locations Tallinn, Estonia. There were two EPTs in there already, the costs are low, we're having the stupid 5% tax from prize pools removed starting february 1st 2014 and English skills are pretty good among Estonians, it's much easier to manage than in bigger countries in the south. Also there have been no stops to the east of Czeck Republic, players from this region would like to play once a year closer to home, it's close to Scandinavia and Russia where no EPTs are held. + Tallinn is awesome, nice old town and good nightlife. The economy in the region is also way stronger than when the last stops were here, so more local players. Same goes for Riga, Latvia, I would like to see one of these stops next season or the one after it.

Hello Neil,

thanks for all the infos. I really like the 1k championship events variety, hope it will be successful.

About the Estrellas in Barcelona : does it mean the Estrellas Main starts 16, 17 or 18 August to end August 21 (4 days) ? and the Mini starts 16, 17, 18 or 19 to end August 21 too (3 days) ?
Can we hope a complete Barcelona schedule before mid-June ?

A good part of this came down to the scheduling as it was squished between 2 stops with Monte Carlo being after which split the satellite fields. But overall the theme is this stop should be on the chopping block.

that was a factor but I know lots of people who skipped because of how ****ty it is and lots of first-timers (like jack and myself) will never be going back, that's for sure

Is San Remo so bad? I'm not at all an ept regular but I thought Deauville and San Remo were the softest ept's...
