hey Matt, can u make it a standard policy in the wpt and all your events for that matter to hi card for seats when moving tables. Borgata and now foxwoods both just have a floorperson walk up and pass out seat cards. This really tilts me.

Thanks Allen, I was unaware of their high card procedure but the WPT does not control such thing either.

Procedures are up to our casino partners, I am happy to make suggestions but it is entirely up to them.

Foxwoods paying 27 with only 189 in the field sucks. Is there any way for the WPT to impose some standards on the casino partners? You don't have to dictate exact payout structures.

In the Borgata WPT w 1313 runners, Tab only paid final 100 players which is like 7.6% of the field. That is obviously way too low and led to a much larger than normal min cash ($8386). Matt-the payout structure you use at Commerce is perfect IMO. LAPC paid 63/681 players..mincash was approx 2 buyins ($22k) and Greg Brooks still took a healthy 25% of the prize pool for 1st)...I agree that there needs to be some standardization of payout structures on the WPT...

We discussed it at the last casino summit though it was met with some resistance as you might expect.

I will bring it up again for season 11

Definitely trying to get something done, the structure (both play down and final table) was 1st. Payouts, registration procedure, and rules are all things I would like to see standardized a bit more.

Someone from wpt staff should oversee late stages of these events.

Often the bubble to the money, or making the final 6 occurs late at night with less than adequate floor staff available.

Any idea when we'll see dates for Parx?

also, not sure if you had discussions w/ Jeff Toth and the rest of the Fwoods crew but its painfully obvious to all that they need to reduce the buyin for their October WPT. Make it a 3500 like the rest of the Northeast WPTs (i.e. Borgata, Parx) and leave it a 10k for the stops where you know the demand is there (LAPC, Bellagio, Hardrock Seminole, Bay 101, etc)

Hollywood Lawrenceburg got a little screwed (not by WPT) last year when PS ran a NAPT event same week. I hope Hollywood does not lose their event because of just that low turnout that one time! Thanks MS

The turnout sucked the year before without the conflict. It's just an awful place to hold a WPT. No clue why it was added to the schedule.

I certainly respect your opinion on this stuff Mr. Terry, But maybe a reduced entry here would get more regional folks in to increase the turnout. IDK maybe you got it right in the first place

The last time the Borgata was a $10K it drew 516 and was the third largest $10K in the US that year. Its buyin wasn't reduced due to lack of demand, it was to increase the casino's revenue by increasing the number of players (which decreased the prize pool). I'm fairly sure the problem with the Foxwoods event isn't the buyin, it's the venue.

The NYC market is obviously a huge one. The Borgata event is super successful, while Foxwoods has dropped to the point of being a failure at this point. I think the answer is to drop Foxwoods and have two events at the Borgata. And I'd love to see one of them be a $10K.

I think the WPT should do the same thing in LA. The LAPC at the Commerce draws an enormous crowd every year, the Bike's turnouts are mediocre at best. They're a few miles away from each other. Dump the Bike, have two events at the Commerce each year.

In two years as a WPT event it's drawn 143 and 97 players. It's just not close enough to a major metropolitan area or poker center to attract crowds.

I think the clue is that it's held at the World Poker Tour Poker Room at Hollywood Indiana.

Yes I know. All events added to the schedule and/or branded as WPT regionals are added due to the host casino's willingness to write a large check. But making that the sole criterion for scheduling without any analysis of whether the event will be appealing to players and draw an adequate crowd, which seems to be what the WPT is doing, doesn't strike me as a viable long-term strategy.

Borgata having 2 WPTs with a 3500 and a 10k would be so awesome.
