World Record Attempt
Delaware Park Iron Man Poker Challenge. August 20, 2011 with a buy in of $550. 100K guaranteed. 60 minute levels, starting stack of 50,000
DP has decided to go for a world record and they have contacted the "Guinness Book of World Records" and Guinness has set up a category for a world record longest continuous poker tournament. Therefore, the breaks are out. No breaks... zero. Of course, anyone can go out to their car and take a nap, and miss a few hands/orbits. Sleep on the bar, table...whatever. What I know is sketchy. But, the advertised tournament has changed to comform to world record qualifications.
The tournament may need to go 36 hours to make the book..... I'm not sure of that point. But, if there are as many as 350 players. With a capped registration, the payout will be $175,000 (or more with alternates) and there will be 17.5 million chips in play @ 50,000 each to start. Regardless, it's a 100K guarantee
The blind structure will change from the one posted on their web site and to slow the tournament down, three levels will be added. The original levels are available on pdf @

Keep in mind that this structure has changed. Levels are added and breaks are out. I will post the new flyer as soon as it's available
Red Bull will be a sponsor though I'm not sure what that means yet.
Press will be contacted and the tournament may be film recorded for news in case stations wish to pick it up for their nightly broadcasts.
Registration will be limited to the first 350 players. They may accept alternates, but registration will be closed after level 2.
Here's a write up of the Ironman that ran at the Commerce in 2009. It lasted 19.5 hours, but players started with only 10,000 in chips @ 60 minute levels and No (big zero) breaks. Meals served at the tables. I can't find anything about another event like this. Any help will be appreciated.

The Commerce was a $1600 buy in 2009. The event at Delaware Park has a $550 price tag. Was there ever a $550 event with this kind of Ironman structure played anywhere in the world at 60 min blinds and 50,000 to start? Epic seems a good description of what this will be. I wonder what the longest running MTT live tournament is.
