But I guarantee you if he gets the non NHL events and players go somewhere else you won't see many more.
Too many times (not just Durant), the good events (ie. non-NLH) get stuck in the middle of a week, which simply isn't conducive for many who would otherwise travel. They don't ALL need to be on the weekends, but they could mix them in on weekends and they would increase the draw on those events.

On very rare occasions, I can carve out a few days during a given week on short notice, but it is FAR easier to make plans around a weekend event (or a Friday event). Outside of something like the WSOP Seniors event (which I qualified for the day cards went in the air), I am not going to go out of my way to travel for a hold'em event. When I can find a HORSE or 8-game mix, however, I do my damndest to TRY and get there, but is often difficult because they choose a Tuesday or Wednesday morning, which kills the majority of the week for me and makes it impossible. Some of us HATE schedules where the only difference is whether the NLHE is full-ring vs 6-max or where the entry fee went up or down or where it is a turbo. Not worth driving or flying to those...its why I skipped New Orleans entirely this year.

If the arguement is: "we get good turnout, just leave it as the same series every year," then might as well be winstar...

The turnout that was cited was from last year's WPT.

A big part of the problem is there just isn't enough players like you. It is hard for any casino to put a non NLH on a weekend when they are looking at maybe 150 players vs putting a NLH on that day that will bring 500+ players. The casino puts tourneys on to make money so which would you put on the schedule? In discussing with Jimmy I would suggest talking to him at the WPT and he will probably accommodate your wishes for the WSOPC in Oct. He just couldn't do it after losing money on the April PNIA event.

Tex,

Did you get a chance to ask Jimmy about replacing Choctaw's ancient chip set?

I just noticed Choctaw has two WSOP circuit stops in the next 7 months in addition to this WPT stop. I must have missed this, but I don't remember them having 2 WSOP stops in the past. A nice little run of DFW poker tournaments on the horizon.

The second WSOP stop is new this year.

I did ask Jimmy about new chips and he said he will bring it up to the casino. This is the first year Choctaw will have two stops. I told Jimmy he needs to get either a third Wsopc or a second WPT. But where he listens to all player recommendations sometimes I think he forgets mine.

Bigtex, does Choctaw typically have any single table satellites/sit n goes running during their WPTs and WSOPCs beyond just what is on the schedule at 9:00 in the morning each day? If so, what buy in/frequency do they run? Thank you!

Also, do you think there is a chance that Choctaw adopts the Harrah's Cherokee idea of having a guarantee over every single WSOPC event, not just the re-entry and main?

Unfortunately single table sattys just don't seem to be popular at Choctaw and they quit even trying to run them a couple of years ago. I for one liked SNG tables. I see Choctaw adding more guarantees for the next WSOPC schedule.

I also really enjoyed and miss the SNGs. They used to go all the time when they had a dedicated area during the WSOPC stops several years ago.

My guess is Jimmy will release the PNIA/WSOPC schedule during the WPT event.

Anyone have a guess on how many runners and how long the $550 mega satellites will last on the day of main event? I hate to cold buy into the main and I can't play any of the prelim sattys so the 2PM mega on 8/5 looks to be the only way I can get in cheaply other than a one off STS the day of main.

Tried booking a room for this weekend, the hotel front desk and poker room were both confused about rates and how to book. Told me I could book a room but my room rate would not be guaranteed.

Were you trying to book with the WPT code? If so, the confusion may be that the series doesn't start until the 20th - and, so I wouldn't expect the code to be valid for a date before the 19th. Just an idea??

If you were just telling them the poker rate then they were thinking of the normal poker rate that you get for playing like 6hrs of cash in the poker room. So they book you at a normal rate and get confirmation from the poker room that you can be adjusted to the poker rate.

Do you just need the code to get the discounted rate or do you have to provide proof of play too?

That's a good question.

I asked both the hotel front desk and whoever it was I spoke to in the poker room, neither knew the answer.

I made a post about it.
I got a call and several others as well saying they are overbooked. They gave me options of a discounted rate in Durant. They will shuttle people back and forth.
This is not an option for me. I travel with my family and the wife and kids are in and out of the room going to the pool.
My reservations for all 3 weekends were made in May as soon as the schedule was out. Something is jacked up.

Room problems have been resolved by Bob Barnes and Jimmy Sommerfeld this morning. Anyone that had their room moved or canceled please call the hotel Friday 7/14 or Saturday 7/15 to get your original room back at Wpt discount.

Sunday July 30 noon, Sunday August 6th noon, or any Friday or sat 7pm would be a great time to put a 500 or 1k PLO tournament. The reason last year did not make great # is because it was held on a weekday noon. I am guessing casino does not want to take away players from the cash game during the weekends as you easily get 6-10 tables of PLO congress games.
