Re: Chicago Poker Classic 2012 - Horseshoe Hammond (Chicago) Feb. 23 - March 5

Allen, dfbuzzbeater, All,

I just spoke w Charlie Cirese, the TD and he confirmed that they will be adding 250/500 and 2500/5000 for the Main.

He mentioned that they've never had these levels in the past (!) owing to time constraints, but since this year they are making the Main a 4-day event they will be able to accommodate it.

He also mentioned that they will get the word out in Twitter, FB etc, but wasnt sure if it will get updated in the site. However, he assured me that he is adding the levels for sure.

With the
a. structure issues out of the way *and*
b. the $60K added, which will effectively make it rake-free (at 300 players; 200 cash back per player which pretty much covers the $125 fee and 3% rake) *and*
c. conflicts with other major events (like bay101, wynn) which will keep lot of of the top pros away,

I think the ME is looking very attractive!

Great job on the main... Are they going to fix the prelims. They used to have the great new Orleans structures, now they buzz thru over 90% of the field in a day.

I guess your comment is easier to say than to explain.
The one thing I didn't like about the penalty is I didn't hear that the policy would be in force before the tournament started. I was there at the start and I didn't hear it mentioned but maybe I wasn't listening.

Re: Chicago Poker Classic 2012 - Horseshoe Hammond (Chicago) Feb. 23 - March 5

I got sat out on the nightly for a round. Becuase my cards got exposed. I was using a finger flick for most of the tourney. I have to muck with my left hand because I am right handed.
I am missing parts of three fingers on my right hand. I can only use my pinky and thumb on right hand to manipulate the cards.the finger flick was helping me not slow the action.one time I flicked the cards caught air and got exposed. This particular deal soon as he sat in guy heads up shows his cards to the guy thinking of calling. Dealer has floor call over done round penalty. Next hand he mucks seat 5's cards for him floor call over. Too bad guard your cards. Next hand my finger flick cost me the tourney. I was BB went I got back in I had one BB left. I sit out. Same dealer calls floor next two hands-five times in row! How does this help play? I talked to floor a lot about it, they say it's Wsop rule! They have to enforce . I look up rule it says it is at the TD discretion warning, or miss a hand, or one round. If it is exposed by a forceful muck. They are just too extreme with this. I could have got a warming or missed one hand.not full round was the tourney for me. I am short on fingers!

1. Not on purpose? An accident? What difference does it make? It's avoidable whether it's "on purpose" or not. It may be an accident but regardless it's also an error, an error that has an impact on the hand, sometimes significantly.
2. It worked. After the penalty everyone joked about it but everyone was also more careful folding. You didn't see anyone launching their cards into intergalactic flight like you usually do.
3. If your average player steams about it I say tough. Deal with it. A one round penalty is not the end of the world.
4. I also wouldn't mind a penalty being assessed for playing out of turn. If you're going to have rules than enforce them, otherwise they are meaningless. Why do you think MLB had a steroid problem? Because there was no penalty for steroid use until recently. Now it's a 50 game suspension and now they are used less, much less.
This rule (getting penalty of 1 rd for exposing ur cards during play)has been effective from wsop 2011 in Harah's casinos...... it was being enforced in my table in circuit event (Oct 2011).

I don't think so. I just heard some ramble, but it was with ~86 people left. I think I might've knocked someone out with AK... but that was with ~100 people left. Was too tired - live pokers too hard. But gl if you play other events.

Anyone itt still left in no.2?

I loved the fact that they were enforcing the rule so strictly. The recreational player should learn proper ways to fold. Throwing their cards around like a ****ing jackass can affect everyones decisions around them. I believe that they will start harsh just to show everyone they are serious and work from there to make it fair to all parties involved. As a player who travels from stop to stop in the midwest I was joking with the dealers anytime they exposed a card while dealing. Basically all you have to do is not muck your hand like a total ******. This isnt a house game have some respect for the people around you.

Second, I cant believe all the crying about taking a level or 2 out and no crying about every entry being raked. By calling it a "re-entry" the house makes another $40 off a buyin instead of it being a rebuy and them not making anything. I like the idea of re-entries but not the unlimited part. Take your one shot 1A and if you fail come back 1B.

Nightly is a crapshoot and if youre a nit you have no chance of winning. I took 3rd in the one Friday night. Paid $3000 with first being $7400 and a Main Event seat.

For anyone wondering who I am I was the ***hole trying to start a riot during 1B wearing a black red wangz hoodie.
How many were there in nightly $130 game won when u won this $ 3000.
Congrats... u got 2 play/win more!!!!!!

for Event #1 I got in line at 11:40 and worked out fine. There were a lot of entrants as well. This is like the latest you can show up imo.

Ya, event #5 will most likely be around 500-600 entrants. Showing up near the start shouldn't be as much of an issue as events 1 & 2.

if you want to feel better about your life, stand by the penny slots for a bit

if you can stand the smoke

then, again, Hammond has one of the very best diamond lounges in Caesars' Ent. If I lived closer, I'd be fat, too.

As annoying as the exposed card rule is here at times, i definitely notice more people be careful and way less cards exposed here than at other stops.

If everyone just says fold to the dealer and makes the dealer muck their cards. The rule will stop. We got it stopped for new Orleans 10k main last yr.

already making the dealers muck my cards. I just lift the card protector and say fold.
I do not want to lose another tournament to another penalty. I think the horseshoe is just being hard ass about things. I think they want players to be eliminated as quickly as possible. That is really what it's about. Have the players sit out a round and get blinded out. If they go on tilt all the better for the house.
