TDs enforcing these penalties think they are doing the poker community a service by teaching people to muck correctly.

What these disproportionate, overly harsh penalties are really doing is driving people away from tournament poker. If you were a newb playing your first tourney, got one of these penalties on the bubble and blinded out, would you be itching to play another tourney any time soon? Doubt it...

These guys are generally great at running tournaments, no idea why they have chosen to alienate so many people with these penalties. (My understanding is Steve is running these tournaments...or maybe it is Charlie Ciresi)

Ya I dont really have issue with the restart, the penalties however are a little harsh.

Guy next to me said he mucked his cards, they hit the dealers hand and exposed and still hit penalized a whole round, lol.

Damn I got knocked out on the 1000/2000 level blinds. First big tourney I played like this it kind of sucks playing 10 hours and not making anything. It was definitely fun though Besides the penalty one round rule, I thought dealers were great. See you guys Monday for event 5!!!

I move my cards into the muck like a steamboat to avoid these penalties, happened 2x at my table and once it was because the cards hit a foreign object on the felt and flipped over. They need to eliminate these penalties for accidents, you can't tell when someone is being reckless or intentionally doing it.

Yeah after I realized they cut off late registration because they weren't going to have space all is good about that. I just thought it was odd. Huge waiting lists for most cash games now too.

I do understand that accidental exposure do happen... and should be considered.

But I think it is a good idea of penalty for 1 rd if you expose your cards.

It happened in my case where the player next 2 me exposed the card while hinting (to call) so that his friend can go all in instead of him.

I did complain as I lost... called with 10's with low stack.

By the way, in this case that player got 2 rds of suspension and I got some comps from TD.. But I was out of tourney.

Also I know many people talk trash to get extra information in critical situation.

Daniel is the leader in this category. He made fortune with this approach

As of WSOP 2011, this practice is also banned.. No wonder Daniel complained loudly in TV about this new rule Also Daniel made little money in WSOP 2011.

You will be severely penalized if there is a complaint against you and U do as stated above.

I believe that many expose cards deliberately... to signal friends...

Rules are rules... and it does protect from unfair advantage created deliberately by violating rules... exposing cards and talking trash to get extra information.

Agree, but clear accidents should be a warning at most.

well if they started doing that i would probably only put my cards like 3 inches in front of me and say fold and let the dealer get them

yep

the enforcement of this rule in Hammond is a ****ing joke

I got a 1 rd penalty yesterday when I tossed in my Q3 rag UTG+2 and it flipped on hitting the ante pile.

These guys are ruining poker for the average recreational player. Just add this to the ridic rake, the re-entries, and so forth that kill the rec player.

I laughed about my penalty, but you should see how some of these avg guys are responding.

On top of that, the TDs have encouraged angle-shooting. There was a player near the end of the day 1 bubble yesterday who said he saw the guy to the right's card flash. He wasn't in the hand, but he used it as an opportunity to get rid of the pushing stack to his right... horrible.

Whatever, these clowns always forget they are in customer service. They feel like they're doing us the favor all the time.

this is straight up collusion and covered by other rules

cards flipping on preflop mucks on accident should not be penalty. Hell, the guys at my 4th table yesterday told me the one at their table was clearly the dealer's fault... good gosh

another thing these guys totally **** up is closing the tournament registration desk at 9 PM. I've busted out after 9 PM in both 1a and 1b. I couldn't register for the next day. WTF?!

I hate to tell these geniuses, but most of the people that bust that late are going to play again tomorrow if they can. I almost didn't show up for 1b due to this. It was only when I got a phone call from someone on premises and told the line wasn't bad that I showed after 12:30.

I think that this rule is enforced this way because there is no room for interpretation by a dealer as to weather the card was exsposed intentionally or accidentally. It is quite simple to muck as Pwnsall explained softly push your cards several inches infront of
You and you have no risk of exsposing a card while mucking. I have had players aggressively much there cards towards me plenty of times because they are card dead, I know they did not exspose these cards intentionally. However that person does have the ability to control how they choose to handel there cards. It was announced over the speakers that this rule would be enforced there is no need for a warning or interpretation by dealers, once that's part of the picture then you start dealing with favoritism and things of that sort.

That's absurd, Any dealer that's
Not a midget would be fine. Maybe they will have to just imply height requirements for dealers... Or you could be reasponsible for your own actions and muck you cards reasonably. Of course if the exposed card is the dealers fault it should not be a penalty. You mucking your cards into the dealers hand isn't the dealers fault IMO.

With over 800 runners today, and about 250 coming back for event 1, cutting off late reg early was a result of tryiing to maintain open tables for the restart of 1. Saw that several of the stage tables were being used very briefly, then those folks were moved elsewhere, so none of the stage tables were in use. Prior to my untimely demise, I was playing near the area where the alternates were gathered, and heard the TD say no more alternates, and ship a couple of tables of alternates to the bar area. GL to those still in.

After the penalty, I ended up shoving my cards all the way in on folds

I was always good at the sit-and-reach test

Allen, I'm almost positive they paid 10% of physical players who signed up, not 10% of all entries.
