Hi, does anybody have save information about, if Casinos still able to help foreign players with winnings over 5k to order an ITIN, so they can payout 100% of the winnings?

Read something, that this year the Casino were no more allowed to do this.

My guess is most places will be able to help, but the Golden Nugget will not help in the slightest - I've heard a bunch of bad stuff - so be careful with those guys!

Hi folks,

on the 1% probabilty I'll need this in June: I just read you'd need your Birth Certificate to get an ITIN? Is that right?

When I got mine they only required my passport.

Im sure they still will help with the ITIN for foreigners. The payout staff/cashiers are very good for the WSOP. I forget her name but the lady with blonde hair helped me with mine a couple of years ago, I think she is in charge.

I talked to a tax professional in the USA about this yesterday.
He said casinos can no longer issue ITINs. Only the IRS. (Internal Revenue Service of the USA)
So if a foreign player without an ITIN (even from the UK with no taxes on gambling winnings) has a payout over $5,000, then 30% will be withheld. Player will then need to apply for an ITIN, mail it in, wait months, then file a USA tax return, then wait months more to get the 30% refunded.

Perhaps, an alternative is to apply for an ITIN now, then if you win over $5k this summer in the USA, ask the casino to hold the money until you get your ITIN. Once you get it in several months, you might be able to email/mail the casino with the number and they might be able to mail you a check for the full amount of your winnings.

Here is link to ITIN form....

Ok, so if i understand this correctly.

For any winnings of a (WSOP and daily?) tournament at Rio, i would get assistance and an ITIN and full money.
If i win fe 10k at the WPT500 in Aria oder at the GN Main Event, i would have to leave 30% of the winnings and had to claim it after i get my ITIN (Claim would take 6 month)
Not good

Therefore just another question: I just filled out a W7 form for the ITIN (i also need it because of selling photos on Fotolia). For that i need certified copies of Passport and then i can send it in. This i still have to do. But I also will be in Las Vegas in 4 weeks.
So you think it is better/faster to send the W7 in one/two week per mail, or directly visit an IRS Local office in Vegas when i am there?

Happy to say that, at this time, we will be able to issue the ITIN's at Wynn. It was touch and go for a bit, but it came through just in time.

Hope everyone in this thread needs one come June!

Hm, so it looks like i have to go to every Poker Room i eventually want to play a tournament and ask how they handle this, and then decide on that information which event i will play.
